    8. Aerosoft Updater and Livery Installer

The Aerosoft Updater and Livery Installer have now been replaced by Aerosoft One. This updater is only for legacy products that do not yet support Aerosoft One and still require this tool.

    9. Flightplan Visualizer

Flightplan Visualizer is a tool that helps you find suitable flights. Select the aircraft type, airline, and airport and you see exactly what routes real airlines fly.  No longer do you have to spend a lot of time deciding where to fly next, just follow the real aircraft!

    • @srcooke, thanks for that Steve. So it’s subsidised by Navigraph.   I saw it in use yesterday on a friend’s computer running MSFS20. It looks very slick and suitable for real world routes.   But my flight from Tokyo to Heathrow last week via Alaska was hand created in PFPX as the GCR took me over Russian airspace now out of bounds. How would SimBrief planned it?   And as for my fictitious Concorde routes such as Boston to Orlando I believe only PFPX will allow the user to create those manually. Once the plan is created I stop using PFPX as the fuel planning etc. is performed by the FSL coding in the sim.
    • Simbrief was aquired by Navigraph in April 2021 where Derek the developer still plays a pivotal role. Simbrief remains free to use with a fixed AIRAC that is periodically updated, a Navigraph subscription is required should you require active AIRAC.   Without doubt it is an excellent product especially for retrieving routes whether those published by users or now the enhanced realworld coverage. If however you are looking to plan your own routes then PFPX is still far easier to use whereby you can create your own direct links for automatic routing, create and avoid restricted areas and automatically use your defined sub-routes.   Whilst me may have lost the online data hopefully the activation server remains active (or an alternative means made available), which was the case when I tested following flightsimsoft.com going offline.
    • @Mathijs Kok, who owns SimBrief? A single person or company? Given it’s free that raises questions about how the servers are financed.
    • Well, I would say that when you buy a product that has a server aspect and needs online activation, you'd better be sure you believe the company selling it will continue to support the product as long as you want to use it.  PFPX was closed a loooong time ago, and any server aspect is at the mercy of the people who made the product. Depending on a legacy product has serious risks.   While I loved PFPX, SimBrief, and Navigraph are just the industry standard and are as good as PFPX ever was. I am sure there is some feature SimBrief does not have, but there are a ton of features in SimBrief that PFPX never had. The fact that it is web-based and it's impossible to 'lose' is just one of those things. After all, what advantage has a locally installed application when it needs server data? Might as well live in the clouds.   Mathijs Kok PMDG
    • Do some of you guys still use the VA system in PFPX? Where you can connect to a VA, upload a schedule, manage the fleet etc. It doesn't work for me, no idea why. I can connect to it, view everything that was uploaded, but when I try to modify anything, it says that connection to the server has been lost. I've tried contacting PFPX support via the zendesk ticket system, but they didn't (couldn't?) help, they said the servers are up and running.
Lg Karl-Heinz
