Hi again, after playing more hours on Fernbus Coach Simulator for Xbox Series X, I’d like to report additional bugs and update some of the issues I mentioned previously.
1. Controls on Xbox
The controls are not terrible, but some choices are very confusing.
Pressing the left D‑Pad opens the mirror adjustment menu and completely blocks the bus controls, which can easily cause accidents.
The game says to press B to go back, but nothing happens. The real button to exit is Y, or you must go through the seat adjustment screen, which is very strange.
Pressing the other D‑Pad directions (right, up, down) during driving does nothing.
Suggestions:
allow full customization of controls;
move mirror and seat adjustment to the pause menu;
add a dedicated button for the parking brake;
add dedicated buttons for cruise control ON/OFF and parking brake, possibly remapping the D‑Pad;
keep RB/LB for indicators (they work well).
Other issues:
there is no control to turn off or change the radio station (I had to set the volume to zero);
the horn doesn’t work correctly: outside the vehicle it resets the bus, while during driving it does nothing.
2. Traffic and AI
Vehicle AI often stops for no reason. I had to set traffic density to 10, otherwise cities become impossible to navigate.
Personal opinion: traffic lights last too long.
3. Technical issues
(1) Cruise control On some buses it doesn’t work or doesn’t appear, even if the button is present on the steering wheel. In other cases it works only while holding the button, and sometimes the command appears in the bus controls, other times in the passenger comfort controls.
(2) Map During driving and route planning, the map moves by itself, as if the stick had drift — but my controller is perfect.
(3) Loading saves Loading a save places the bus exactly where it was, but:
the engine is off,
all services are off.
If you save in the middle of the road, you reload into a dangerous situation.
Suggestion: show a message advising players to pull over and turn off the engine before saving.
Note: passengers are reset, changing skin and position.
(4) Bus selection – critical issue During bus selection, the Xbox Series X fans go to maximum and the console shuts down due to high temperature. This never happens during gameplay, nor with heavier games.
To avoid it, I must select the bus very quickly.
Also, bus selection is complicated because there are many vehicles, including DLCs I don’t own.
Suggestion: add filters.
(5) Passenger counting after a stop After a stop, if I sit in the driver’s seat, I can’t count passengers anymore. If I sit down by mistake mid‑count, I cannot resume.
(6) Visibility during early‑morning departures Leaving Nice at 6 AM with rain, it was so dark that I couldn’t open luggage compartments or see passengers to check tickets, despite the street lights.
Critical additional issue: Sometimes, when arriving at the first stop after leaving the depot, I cannot check passengers’ tickets. Pressing on them does nothing. After many attempts, I found the workaround: reload the route from the phone app. Passengers respawn, and then I can check tickets — but the final evaluation shows zero passengers transported.
This is a serious problem that ruins the gameplay.
4. Tutorial and manual
The tutorial is very limited. The game is simple, but some functions are not explained.
Examples:
tachograph (I didn’t notice it at first);
how often you must take a break;
when to turn on passenger lights;
command overview;
how to perform a proper stop.
Questions:
sometimes I hear a phone ringing: do I need to do something?
what does the “Express” option do when creating a route?
what is the “registration time” in route creation?
on the map, icons with a camera and “Gita Turistica” (misspelled as “Gita Tursitica”): what are they for?
Many things are left to the player, who must figure them out by trial and error.
5. Events and incidents
I set incidents to 100, but in a 1300 km trip (Nice → Linz) I encountered very few:
a burning car,
a roadside fire,
a police checkpoint,
a construction site.
6. Graphic bug in Nice
Arriving at Nice Departures, some street lamps fall down by themselves long before reaching them.
Conclusion
Despite these issues, Fernbus is still giving me a lot of fun. I hope these reports help with future patches and improvements to the console version.
Thanks for your work.
