Twin Otter Extended

Support for the Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended

  1. Turning on the autopilot altitude setting does not seem to work as intended, and in fact causes the plane to crash. The NAV functionality seems to work fine though. What is going on?

  3. Hi there. I am interested to find out how the real world Bendix KIng KR 87 ADF unit (Twin Otter Extended), identifies a frequency with a 0.5 Khz shifted resolution. I notice that the KR 87 ADF unit in the Aerosoft unit does not have the ability to tune in the 0.5Khz but accurately tunes in to and identifies NDB's with a 0.5Khz frequency resolution. (Example NDB: - Sky Vector reports EGHI 's NDB (EAS) as having a frequency of 391.5 Khz, but Airport Nav Finder indicates the same NDB to have a frequency resolution of 391 Khz and both P3D & FSX use the 0.5Khz frequency resolution it being a CAA European standard requirement) Can …

Hello, although I smoothly managed my first landing in VNLK, setting the usual flaps 4 and speed around 70 knots as for short runways, I guess that in less dense air flaps setting and speed should be managed differently how do the TwinOtter pilots manage landing at altitude in real life? any web reference, please? thanks

I am running P3Dv4.5.13.32097 on Windows 10. Twin Otter start up situation is set to cold and dark. I load a default aircraft and then call up the Twin Otter from the aircraft menu. When the Twin Otter loads from the aircraft menu the simulator is paused. However, as soon as the aircraft is loaded the fire pull handles light and bells go off. I have not yet even started the aircraft. I unpause the sim and the fire warnings stop. But as soon as I turn on the battery to begin the start process the fire lights and bell go off again. I can then silence the bell, start the aircraft as normal, and fly away with the fire pull handles still showing red. …

What do the engine igniters do? (L1, both, L2; R1, both, R2) Are they simulated? They are not referenced at all in the checklists so I'm not sure how/when they are used?

I have the Twin Otter loaded spanning three screens in p3d v4. When I press Shift+2 the checklist pop-up displays but is distorted. I have tried to edit the window data in the Panel.cfg and have been able alter the position of the window and it window_size but cannot extend the depth of the display to get a reasonable size ratio. I have done this before to other aircraft when using widescreen settings but cannot get the desired effect on this occasion. I know I can have the pop-up load in a distorted way and stretch the vertical aspect and I can save it as a loadable scenario but I would prefer to be able to simply use the Shift+2 option from a re-con…

Someone posted I believe that in P3d they installed it. I noticed it was exactly the same size as the stock 530. HOWEVER I found this DOES NOT work in FSX. After some trial and error I got the screen to fit perfect into the stock 530. There is NOT a new VC plate therefore the buttons and controls do not work. I just replace Window03=, or whichever Window the stock is to the RXP530. Sometimes you might add a Radar or etc.. to the windows which I say whatever window the stock 530 is in. Also I have upgraded recently from the original rxp430 and 530 to the V2 which is able to do much more into upgrading panels. So that being this IS V2. Always back up the entire panel B…

With the coming year and a few new sims on the horizon, I really hope that Aerosoft is seriously considering bring this plane into them with a few new improvements. Namely PBR, dynamic lighting and GTN750. This plane is a beaut in VR, has many great features and with the ability to land almost anywhere and haul a good amount of cargo and pax, it has so many reasons to own and fly it. I understand there are limitation in Tprops but hopefully MSFS2020 might offer a few improvements in this area.

I use this aircraft on fsx all the time. I recently upgraded to p3dv4. Start it up, full throttle, parking brake off. The engine revs up and sounds like it's going to take off but the aircraft doesn't move an inch.

Hello everyone I dediced to become an artist ! This would be my first livery ever. I'm in teh process of fine tuning some elements. No pretention to be the exact reproduction of the real aircraft, but to give a good look and feel. What do you think ? Feel free to comment and make suggestions. Greg

New Twin Otter Extender owner here. Just curious if anyone knows of a US Air Force Academy UV-18 repaint available? I've only been able to find a few references in the forums, but no completed paints it seems. https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/6183646 Thanks.

  20. When I fly the Twotter, i always have to cancel the fligts, because of miraculous crashes. In this case not FSX which is crashing, just the craft itself. Today I was flying from Edinburg (EGPH) to Oban (EGEO), fl080, everything was getting smooth, until a couple of minutes I got an 'Overstressed' crash. I switched off the ' stress causes damage' box in the realism menu to avoid this kind of crashes. I reloaded the flight (using FSUIPC autosave) in the state a couple of minutes before this event. Everything seemed to go well, but all of a sudden, CRASH!.... I used the autopilot to climb (IAS mode) and switched to ALT mode when reac…
