F-14 Tomcat

So I'm playing around with LANTIRN and I can't find anything in the manual that specifically mentions how to work certain features. For instance, how do you change from WHOT to BHOT? Is there an AUTO mode or is everything always CCIP? Etc. I locked the cursor in ATTK mode on a target and I dropped a GBU-10 when the CCIP pipper was on it, but even though the laser was on and firing, it failed to track. In fact, I didn't even see an explosion nearby or smoke. Can someone point me in the direction of A/G and LANTIRN ops? Thanks. v6, boNes

Hi, I remember a long time ago I had foudn the keystroke that allowed you to move a cursor on the TID to designate targets with the joystick. It was a circular shaped cursor. I searched the forums and manual but can't find where I had found it before. I got as far as CTRL-F to get the stick to control the radar antenna elevation and tilting the antenna left to right, but that was it. It didn't move a cursor on the TID screen. Anyone know the keystroke? v6, boNes

So, recently, I trapped, put on the parking brake, then proceeded to change my stores via Shift-2. After I selected stores, when I went back to my Tomcat and looked at it externally, it had different stores. For instance, I loaded a LANTIRN and that's all and when I went to the Tomcat is had slung underneath it a JDAM and a few missiles. I brought up the stores menu again and loaded a fuel tank and I literally saw a Sidewinder get loaded on the glove pylon. I clicked off the fuel tank and the Sidewinder disappeared. What is going on? v6, boNes

I have an issue with FSUIPC. When I get the tomcat functions programmed, every time I use those functions the game freeze for fraction of a second. Any solutions ?

I am considering Installing P3Dv4.1.3 on my F:/ drive. Obviously my registry will reflect that. Will my F-14 Extended Installer allow me to install to P3Dv4 in that location? Regards, William

I've seen my issue posted before. I'm having issues with the throttles. I'm using a Microsoft controller. When I throttle up, it only goes to mil, it will not go into burner. When I try to throttle back, they are stuck at mil and I have to end up using the mouse to throttle back. This is the only aircraft on FSX GE that I am having this issue with. I'd hate to see that I wasted money on this because as a former Tomcat mech, I love this plane. Thanks!

I've just bought the F-14 Extended from Simshack, installed it, fired it up, followed the checklists, but there appears to be an issue with the afterburner fx. Does anyone have any ideas? Edit : I should probably mention that this is in P3Dv4. Mostly stock, just a few other aircraft and scenery addons.

Hello everyone, I would like to use LANTIRN to designat a target. I tried to understand the LANTIRN checklist published on the forum, but I've some problems: I didn't succed to control TCS. The SLAVE button can't be used. Same with FOV button. When I try to use the RIO stick, nothing happend because FOV is locked on WIDE position and SLAVE is locked on RDR position. So what's the solution ? I didn't understand anything about the concept of MFD PFD G1000,...What is it ? How to use it ?

I've been noticing that when I fly into heavy clouds, the HUD fades away and just becomes a blank HUD glass and then I have to look at my cockpit gauges and instruments to get speed/altitude, etc. Does anyone else have this happen? v6, boNes

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here. I get the tomcat lined up, I "extend the water rudder" to kneel the plane. But, it kneels only for a second before bouncing back up to the taxi position. I can't get it to stay kneeled. On a hunch, I hit the takeoff assist key, it lined me up on the cat but the plane's nose just started bouncing back and forth between kneel and taxi. I followed the instructions in the documentation. Flaps are down, wings extended, inlet ramps on auto, engines set to zone V. What am I missing?

How in the world do ext/ret the speedbrake? What's the key for it?

Hello all. Just got the Tomcat for P3dv4. I realise the aircraft was never intended to drop bombs and as a fleet defence fighter sim its superb! The Carrier is superb! The Air to Air aspect appears to be functional. However, I am reading the manual and having great trouble figuring out how to use the targeting pod with laser guided bombs. Never mind the JDAM? So how do you get the RIO's stick to move the targeting cursor on the DDI? The targeting pod appears fixed to the gun cross. Has the sim run out of animations, or was this function omitted from the model? The manual ,makes reference to slewin…

Hello! Ok, so I select the F-14 and it starts in the "ready to taxi" state.When I click on "cold and dark", the displays go dark, but I can still hear the engines.I can't get the F-14 in the "cold and dark" state.The check in the box stays there, nothing happens.I reinstalled it, the problem is still there.What's wrong with it?

Hello Aerosoft Team, i have F-14 Extended and FSX and when i select F-14 i get that message "Visual Model could not be displayed F14A Tomcat VF-2 1991" and the same with other models i don't know what to do and i am pretty sure that i selected "Flight Simulator X" when i was installing it. and i did a re-install many times. Hi, I’ve already asked in the tac pack section but I’ll repost here. Using FSX there are no tracer or smoke effects when firing the gun. It is firing as I can see it hitting the ground. Is this normal? david

Since I have installed P3D V4 i have this issue that the weapons configurator in the checklist displays all weapons at once. Earlier, installing SimConnect used to solve it. is there any way of solving this in V4? Some help would be greatly appreciated...

Hello, So I finally upgraded to P3Dv4 and am now trying to install the V3 Tomcat... However, when I installed my copy of P3Dv4 I installed it to a hard drive other than my C / System drive... In my case it was my A: drive I chose to install to...However, the Aerosoft installer keeps trying to point to install in the C drive... Thus creating the following error: Is there way to redirect the installer paths to my A drive / P3D installation there? Perhaps changing a registry entry? So far Superbug / Tacpack / FSUIPC5 all found the A drive path automatically and just fine... This is the only installer giving me any issues... Thanks

Everytime I land on the Ford with the Aerosoft Tomcat, I can never seem to trap a wire. I have literally landed just before the 1 wire and driven the Tomcat to the wires and still not trap. Just wondering if anyone else has ever used this carrier and had a problem with it. Maybe it's fine with other aircraft, but I only tried it with the Abacus F/A-18 and that's the only aircraft i can get to trap on the Ford. Weird. v6, boNes

Due to the problem with the version for P3Dv3 (see thread below) I tried installing the version for FSX, after downloading it on Simmarket's website when opening the file (AS_F-14 X FSX-FSXSTEAM.zip available for download) is still the old 2.02 version and not with the current 3.00 (See attach pic)

The VC light map is quite well done but I added some light splash on the panels where illuminated by the gooseneck lights (at 2:10). This adds sense of space when it's pitch dark with the dials lit. Hello Cagle, can you post the download Hotfix for the F-14X Extended ... I having problems with launching off the cats seems the Nose strut won't kneel all the way down? Thanks.

Now that I seem to have solved the other issue, I've run into another problem. The cat officer doesn't seem to see the big plumes of fire shooting out the back of my jet. I bring the TF-30s up to afterburner, to get ready for launch, but I still get a warning to turn on the burners. Even if I use the Afterburner/Concorde Reheat key command, it still tells me they're not on. The B of course seems to be fine as long as they're over 90%

Hi, happy to fly again the Tomcat in P3D v4. Unfortunately I found the very same issue of the former version. After lots of test flights, in the end on my pc (and on another simmer's one - friend of mine -, with a much powerful high-end machine) this aircraft is flyable and manageable only at the default "Fair weather" setting or less. If I only switch to "Cold fronts", the dances begin; not only, it goes for some moment out of control, making the landings a pain in the neck.. Hi, Please, would it be possible to have a combination of key to open the F-14 Ai Menu? Example: Ctrl+F10 or better, have the possibility to choose my own combination (I don't know if it's possible...). This system already exists for GSX (Ctrl+F12) or Active Sky (Ctrl+F11) Thank you and Regards,
