Lately I had the problem, that the catapult launches do not work well. I kneel the cat, activate via Shift-I the catapult, set full Flaps & Slats and fire up the throttles to its max. thust. I wait a few seconds until the afterburner is heated up and activate the catapult launch Shift+I. When I pass the edge of the carrier I pull the stick, but the F-14 nearly drops right from the edge into the water. I have the feeling, that the cat does not gain enough speed to climb or to maintain it's level not speaking about climbing. I am aware of the fact, that, the more the payload the more the bird descends a bit when launching but my Tomcat simply seems …

  3. Hello, I've got a problem which occured out of a sudden. When I load a carrier mission (P3D V3 + Aerosofts predesigned carrier operations) the Kitty Hawk doesn't spawn anymore. My F-14 seems to fly over the sea. I can spawn the kitty hawk at this point by using Tac Pack but if done so, I cannot launch from deck. I cannot accelerate enough to climb. Afterburner is on though. This problem never was there before. I tried to remember what changes to P3D I recently made, but the only thing is that I installed Orbx NA Southern California Package. Anyone's got an idea how to bring back the Kitty Howk to its missions?

  4. Hi, I practised a lot to land on a carrier. Manually it works better after hours of practicing but the ACLS gives me troubles. Perhaps someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. At 15 nM I slow down via Airbrake and reduced throttle ACL/PCD on Below 200 knots I lower the flaps and turn speedbrake off in order not to become slower than 130 kts Gear down, hook down, Usually I manually trim the cat until it does not climb or descend. Hard, but it works somehow. I am missing an index, to see what my trimming is doing. Some kind digital wheel that moves upwards or downwards depending on my trimming. "Shift+7" …

  5. Hi, another problem I just discovered I cannot solve on my own. I bought the 80's Miramar Scenery. Looks great, works fine with P3D V3. I also downloaded the related charts of Miramar KNKX. The TACAN of KNKX is said to be 33X. When I enter this Tacan no ILS needles or DME will show up. Whatever Steer CMD Channel I switch to, no signal or anything shown on HUD or HSI. Ain't 33X the right Tacan? ILS neddle should show when right, ain't it? Or did I get something wrong? When I load this scenario the tacan is set to 84X by default. But I don't get any DME range info or ILS needles. When I open the NAV Panel (Shift + 6) and enter the IL…

Hi, I was just wondering how to repaint the F-14X models. I downloaded the paintkit, but I would like to know how exactly to save the new files. Which file format do I need and how to implement the whole plane / new livery into the game? I noticed, that the files of the default F-14s are .dds format. The templates in the paintkit folder are standard psp format. Is there a manual or tutorial on the net how to do this? Thank you! I use PS CS6 btw.

What is the standard procedure for this? Do you extend the airbrakes? It seems that if I add too much power I cannot control the yaw moment, if I don't, my AoA goes out of control. How do you guys do it?

It's been a long time coming but I'm finally at a point where the front, left and right vertical panel is functional enough to use. I started out with an Akers Barnes simpit. More information on these cockpits can be found here. http://www.62ndfightingfalcons.com/62-abc-cockpit.html I was satisfied with this until one day a friend at work, who is also in to flight simulation, started talking about building a radio stack using an arduino. His projects can be found here...http://thegeekforge.com/ With his teaching and code, I was able to put together a radio stack. I based it off of UHF style radios found in military aircraft since that is mainly what I fly when I …

Sometimes if I catch a wire, the Tomcat comes to a stop at the very edge of the deck, so close that there is not enough space for me to turn the nosewheel hard to taxi to the cat. I fall right into the water. Does anyone else have this problem? Also, sometimes when I land and catch a wire, I put the throttles forward as you do in real life but then it seems like the Tomcat breaks free of the wire as if the hook was weak. I know I trapped because I am in a good part of the deck AND the LSO is saying OK 3. Does anyone else have this problem? v6, boNes

Yesterday someone cited a passage from the manual to me, page number and all, and I looked at mine and did not have that passage at all. He suggested that my manual was out of date (which also may explain alot of the questions I had even though I read it). Where can I get updated manuals? Apparently mine are from December 2014. I tried downloading the ones that are in the pinned post, but for some reason Acrobat X won't read them. Any ideas? v6, boNes

Hello, I try to make my way through the checklist of the F-14 Tomcat and got stuck while checking. (on deck of the Kitty Hawk) Checklist Prestart Taxi: Hook -Down/Up : I moved the lever in the cockpit for the command hook down. The hook did so and came down but somehow it got stuck. I couldn't move the lever to "hook up" position. Anyone can tell me how move it to the right position again to get the marker in the checklist? The lever moves slightly up then simply jumps back to the hook down position when clicked. It seems to be stuck or blocked. Nose Wheel Steering On : Perhaps I missed it in the manual but I cannot find a switch…

  13. On page 4 of the Carrier Ops manual, it says: "...when approaching in an aircraft different than the Aerosoft F-14, you will need to manually insert a line in your aircraft.cfg, so you have the gauge that controls the FLOLS. Again, you will not need to interact with the gauge in any way, it's enough to have it installed. The gauge itself will be placed in your FSX/Gauges directory when the Kitty Hawk is installed, and you don't need to move it." So, if I'm using the VRS Super Bug with TacPack and want to land on the Kitty Hawk, am I to understand that I don't need to do anything and that the FLOLS and ILS cues/glideslope will be correct? Or is t…

When I used the VRS Super Bug with TacPack landing on the Aerosoft CV-63 I was getting working FLOLS and meatball lights. I updated the Super Bug recently and now the meatball and FLOLS lights for the Kitty Hawk are gone. Why is that? I tried asking in the VRS forums and they think that maybe if I had Super Bug installed first then installed F-14X with Kitty Hawk afterwards that maybe the Aerosoft installation added gauges to all the aircraft in my inventory so that the Kitty Hawk FLOLS would work with other aircraft. But since I uninstalled the Super Bug and reinstalled a new Super Bug version, maybe the gauges got lost? Does anyone know if this is correct? How can…

Hello, after i worked my way throught the checklist I tried to land on a carrier. I order to do so I load "Hawaii VFR Approach". The first time I try is all works well. But in case I Crash, I let the Mission restart and I noticed, that after restart both engines are off. I also have to turn Steer CMD to AWL/PCL on each time. SAS are turned off too. Is this always the case? When in the air, how can I crank and start up the engines? When approaching the carrier I also noticed something I cannot explain why. My airspeed is 135 kts, Wingsweep Auto, Flaps down, Hook down, Gear down, all SAS channels turned on, AP ACL not engaged yet. I trim the pla…

In the manual it says that (Avionics, page 23-24) it says that both the TACAN and ILS are tuned by a frequency specific to each carrier. As I understand it, this frequency is both a TACAN and and ILS simultaneously, depending on how you set your STEER CMD. But I have 2 questions: 1) If you tune say 58X for the Kitty Hawk, you should see TACAN steering cues when you press the TACAN button, and ILS steering cues when you press the AWL/PCD button. However, I don't see these cues in either mode. Why is that? 2) When you spawn a carrier, it specifies a TACAN frequency and an ILS frequency (for Kitty Hawk it is 58X (or 112.1) for TACAN and 111.95 for ILS)…

Lately, wheeras it was working before, I've been noticing that if I fire the cannon, it fires off maybe 25 rounds, and then quits. Everytime I oull the trigger again, all I hear is the cannon spool up, then wind down, and never fire anything. I look at the counter and I have well over 500 rounds left. Have I jammed the gun or something? v6, boNes

Hi All, I created a comprehensive, yet detailed pdf checklist for the F-14A based on the manual from the moment of entering the plane to releasing the brakes. You can download it here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByrJF4aoj0rTOThiY0hKdGZkWkE There is a really good looking functional checklist in the below file starting from page 402. If anyone is able to extract the checklist pages from the pdf and could share it, it would be really great: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByrJF4aoj0rTNGtFZ19QLUFBY2s

Hello, I just noticed, that while walking throught the checklist I receive a warning in the upper left screen that my fuel level is critical. One of my engines was running idle as the warning showed up. Checking the fuel monitor it shows 1480 units of fuel right. (Left it was even more due to the fact that left engine wasn't cranked up at this time). In the "payload" section I chose "Full". Why does the warning "fuel level critially" appear? Anything I miss while starting? Thanks for your help!

Well I turned the wind off completely went out 18 miles ...was able to get command control...watched the a/c approach the carrier, 120 knots approach speed on auto throttle, ball was right on and the plane landed in the water passed the carrier...go figure...will try again tomorrow....I know a bolter is possible with ACLS but a complete miss with no wind?????? This was the F14 Oahu flight. Loaded the San Diego F14 flight, captured the ACLS perfectly. DLC engaged, Speed brake out, full flaps, gear down, 120 knots ...watched the approach in two views...ball centered by ACLS, F14 flew right over the deck into water. This is twice in a row...I h…

Hello All, Our apologies, but there was a mix-up with the v2.02 installer and only about half of the new features made it into the build. There is now a new (definitive) v2.02 install in the Aerosoft shop. One particular item of note a more authentic set of base textures and night lightning improvements by Patrick (KDFW). Best, John

Hi, I have 2 questions regarding the startup procedure. Before engine start, the manual says the starter switch should be cycled: left, off, right, off. Why is this needed? I read somewhere it's meant to bleed all remaining hydraulic pressure, should there be any, before testing the HI/LO emergency flight hydraulics. Is this true? Also, after starting the right engine but before starting the left one, you're supposed to crank the left one, hydraulic transfer pump to normal, build about 2500 psi combined pressure, then starter off, hydr. shutoff. Why is this needed? Also, the pressure that builds up like this bleeds off rather quickly if I don't sta…
