All support and discussion about our DC8 project

  1. Started by theophile,

A while ago some people mentioned some problems with the hydraulic system.I recently reinstalled the dc8 latest version and I still seem to have that same problem.I get around it by assigning a key to eliminate the hydraulic system failures and so, I can fly the bird without to much problems. Is this problem worked on though?

hi michael and everybody, 2 days now (don't laugh...) i try to move the guard over the radio rack blower to make sure the switch is set to norm but i didn't manage it. i use the cargo version. i have seen a video in youtube that somebody manages to open and close the guard. how can we do it? as long as i pass the mouse cursor over the guard, it becomes hand but nothing happens with right or left klik. neither if i drug it up down left or right. any ideas? thanks

I uninstalled and then reinstalled v2.0 then upgraded to v2.1. No vibrating scenery at the gate this time. But several serious issues during the takeoff and climb. 1. Handflew the aircraft to 8000 agl and then activated AutoPilot maintaining correct climb EPR (per charts based on altitude/RAT) and pitched using VS to maintain 250KIAS. Shaking (or vibrating) panel began immediately. But outside view showed stable climb. Then the aircraft began pitching down and I tried to raise the VSI using the AP but it had no effect. Finally was able to regain stable flight by aggressively applying UP-Trim using the NUM 1 key. It gradually responded and I had to imm…

Hi, On my first flight (FAOR-EGCC) in this lovely aircraft. Fuel management and INS keeps you engaged. Love the turbine sounds. At full gross she's got a long takeoff (FAOR elevation is over 5000 ft). Could anyone tell me what the service ceiling on the old girl is? I'm at FL360, stepped up twice from FL300. Simbrief gives me a step up to FL380 in a few hundred miles. Couldn't find any sensible data on line. Cheers.

I've made hotfixes available for versions 2.0 and 2.1 for P3D only. As far as I know, FSX is OK and these files are only for P3D. Files can be found at the end of the Most recent update breaks trim handle and indicator thread.

Hello everyone, yesterday I got the DC-8 and I wonder about the payload manager and the CG. I'll attach a screenshot, it tells more than a thousand words.. The CG is far to the back, it actually is higher than the stabilizer setting table allows it. All I have done was to install the aircraft and load it up. However I have to stick with version 2.0 as with the latest update 2.1 I can't move the stab trim. (I have written about it in the other thread). For what it's worth the P3D payload manager shows the CG well in the middle, even slightly forward. Looking at the payload stations it Station 3, 7, 12 and 16 in use. I can put all the weight of 1300…

  12. I was lucky enough to have some time in the DC-8 and well and DC-9 and other early turbojets - Being that very set airspeeds are needed for efficient climb to higher flight levels I would love to see an implemented IAS hold mode with a speed bug... It was the only way we climbed - VS hold requires a lot of baby-sitting. Well done on this product!

I've looked high and low for documentation for the p3d v4 version of this lovely bird. I can't find anything. IN my doucuments/aerosoft folder is just the updater. I'm looking for a list of custom key commands - specifically the turn knob on the AP panel. Since the 2.1 version is not showing the trim knob and indicator working - I've gone back. I'd like to be able to assign left and right to key commands. Can someone tell me what they are? Thanks! Colin Ware Denver

After taking off at 1500 ft (rad alt) I start to retract the flaps and reduce the EPR to the value of climb trhust compared to the RAT. With takeoff weights less than 230000 lbs, I always set the plus an EPR value of 1.55 (RAT 35). Although this represents one of the lowest thrusts, to maintain 250 kts with 0 flap, I get climb rates of at least 4000 ft / s. Is it correct to have such high climb rates? For low take-off weights, are there procedures for de-rate the climb trhust?

Hi, ever since the latest update, I am having problems with the configuration of the fuel system. Despite all mains in fill and the center tank lever in the Center Wing Tank "On" position, no flows are to be seen from the center tank into the other tanks. Instead the system is using the fuel from the engine 2 and 3 Alt Tanks. The Pic enclosed is after a cruise at 36,000 ft of 9nearly 2 hours and I am afraid the engines will shut down soon. What do I do wrong? Prepare 4.5 Help will be appreciated Peter

Hello! being that type of person who usually is away from the Computer during cruise flight, going grocery shopping, cleaning the house or is just doing something else, checking the sim every now and then, I was wondering if it’s possible to add a “Auto Fuel Management Mode”? Don’t get me wrong, I really like the DC-8 and all the work which is required to get her flying and keeping her in the air. But that Auto mode would make life so much easier for me and probably a few other people too. Thank you & happy landings

I may have accidentally deleted a file from my Updater Tool and now, even after reinstalling the aircraft the Updater Tool doesn't seem to work or recognize any of my Aerosoft add-ons. Is there a way to download this Tool separately in order to reinstall it?

Hi, Would it be very time consuming to issue a pop-up window for the auto-pilot and maybe the INS as well? I find it quite hard to manage the vertical speed wheel while observing the indicated airspeed and altitude. kind regards Harry

Somehow, if the aircraft is on autopilot and climbing, turning the aircraft sends the aircraft in a shallow dive. Only pulling back on the elevator will prevent the aircraft from crashing into the ground. tc
