I've noticed some issues with the interactions between the main, alternate and auxiliary tanks. Firstly, the center wing tank doesn't seem to feed into the mains properly; you have to open the alt 2 and 3 fill valves (and only alts 2 and 3; neither alts nor mains 1 and 4 will take center fuel as far as I can tell) and then follow the procedure to pump fuel from them into mains 2 and 3. Secondly, I talked with Richboy and we both had an issue with the outboard alts where it'd feed all four engines from them, regardless of the tank selector position. Essentially, it's as if the crossflows are open all the time. That said, when I happened to me I tried to cycle the tank sele…

I seem to recall promising this a while back, so here are a few tips to get to help understand it and get it working. When the aircraft loads, the engines are on, everything is powered and the INS is on and aligned. You just need to load a standard flight plan using the sim interface. After a few seconds it will go into the INS. There are a number of ways to confirm it's loaded, but an easy on is to turn one of the CDU knobs to DIS/TIME to see if the distance to the first waypoint is shown correctly. It might be best to start this way at first to gain confidence with the basic INS functions before starting from cold and dark and doing DME updates. During …

One very minor issue for a next update:when you put the DC8 in a cold and dark state(using the button on the fuel and payload loader),the nav light remains in the ON position.

Hi guys I love classics so the dc-8 is a natural fit for my tastes. Before i get this, i have a few questions: * Is there any chance that we may get a windowless, cargo version? because what i really want to do is cargo ops * How deep are those systems? What are the compromises? the systems that dont work or are simplistic versions? * Can i save and resume a flight later? i live in a country where we have power cuts so this is a must for me. * Is the INS fully functional? * Can i get the manual before purchasing? Thanks!

Hello, I cannot find it in the manual... a chapter about the relationship between the AUX channel of the autopilot and the dual INS installation. If I want to drive the AP from left-hand side INS only, or from right-hand side INS only, how is that possible ? We could imagine having autosequencing on left INS til the last waypoint, then switch the AP coupling to the right INS... Best regards,

Hi all: I am following the tutorial but not loading the "tutorial flight" but selecting the aircraft from the menu. I believe I am following the Tutorial but I am not able to fire engines. Of course, I had enabled EXT PWR and EXT AIR. Anyone with this issue? Thank you.

For those of you having trouble starting the engines. I have rewritten the code for starting and would like people having problems to try it out before it gets added to the next update. You need to download the logic.xml file from the link below and replace the one in your DC-8_50/panel/DC81 folder. I suggest you back up the old file as a precaution. Then try it out and let me know if you now have problem free starts. If for some reason you haven't sastisfied the conditions to start (such as not arming the ignition), and it goes wrong, be sure to turn off the starter and the fuel cutoff back to off before trying again. https://drive.google.co…

So as we need to refuel the aircraft via weight manager sift+3 pop up, I configured GSX to not show the default fuel sim dialog, but it says to use the refueling system of my aircraft. I add the fuel but GSX doesn´t detect it. So anybody knows to tell GSX I have refueled my plane without using the default sim fuel dialog? Cheers

Hi, I now understand how to add waypoints of SIDs manually when uploading an FSX default flight plan. But I had problems adding waypoints of STARs manually. I´m going to talk with the example of TERTO6V arrival to GCLA. When I was arriving at TERTO waypoint, my penultimate waypoint (if we count the airport as the waypoint) loaded on the CDU flight plan computer lets say it was the waypoint 39 of a total of 40 waypoints. so in the left display of the flight computer, I was watching 39 40. So the leg in CDU was from 9 to 1, TERTO to GCLA, from 39 to 40 in the global sequence. first, I tried to add in the left display more waypoints for example 44 to see …

Hi, there is an issue with VOR capture and navigation (Or my unknowledge, so please, in this case, forgive me). For example. Today I decided to fly TERTO 1F STAR to GCLA with conventional IFR the chart says that from TERTO you need to intercept R041 of LANZAROTE VOR (115.2) So near to TERTO (on INS aux nav) y prepare the radios and set the VOR HF NAV1 course to 041, after set autopilot to VOR LOC mode, the plane capture the radial but starts to turn to the opposite direction as you can see in picture 1. So I decide to set VOR HF NAV1 to the opposite course, 221 and the plane starts to go the correct direction as you can see in picture 2. Is it correct? or is there an …

Hi, So I had my first "unable to start engine" issue on this addon so far, this is on v1.0.2. It started fine the first leg, starting off via Cold & Dark. However on the second leg / turnaround, I was unable to start Engine #4 following the normal start procedure. N2 Rose, but could not get fuel to catch, so N1 and Exhaust Temp just stayed stagnant and fuel flow did not increase beyond what it reaches during initial startup. Engines #1 to #3 started fine without issues. Eventually the way I got it to work was turning the Fuel Shutoff Switch to On before opening the Start Valve on No.4. Luckil…

The following entries in aircraft.cfg create some issues with 3rd party addons for me. 1) the [general] section contains two conflicting lines, atc_model=DC8 and atc_model=DC-8 2) The payload stations look like station_load.0=0, 46.5, 0, 2.3 compared to the following entries for the CRJ: station_load.0=419,-21.3,0,-1 station_name.0="Pilots" This mean, the weight of all stations is zero and they don't have a name. Are you planning to change this in the future? If not, I suppose it is safe to edit these entries by myself? Thanks, Peter

Would it be possible to display the transponder code when the mouse hovers over the left transponder dial? Since the first digit is covered, I always have to change views in order to set the transponder. If the code would be displayed, that wouldn't be needed anymore. Thanks, Peter

Loving this aeroplane, but I cannot get the autopilot to follow the INS. Load INS with the flight plan loader. Startup the aircraft, INS to NAV, take off, engage the autopilot and select AUX, aircraft begins a slow turn to port. AUTO/MAN switch on INS stuck in AUTO and only moves up and down. Suggestions please- I think I followed the manual, but I may have missed something.

Forgive me if this has already been brought up, but I didn't see this problem in any of the threads. I was trying the tutorial and having an issue dialing in the COM frequency. It appears that turning the small knob for the decimal portion of the digits, when passing 9 on the 5th digit, it changes the 3rd digit and not the 4th digit. So in essence, its impossible right now to change the 4th digits value.

I just installed the update and I can confirm that the DC-8 can now be started without having to load up the tutorial flight first.I can be started with any aircraft set as default aircraft to start the simulator. Regretfully, for me the issue with the Nav sounds (VOR ,ADF and ILS) remains.I cannot shut them off, once tuned.

Some of you may be familiar with the movie "Catch Me If You Can" -- from about 15 years ago. It features several aircraft in some scenes, and I am trying to see if I'm right on these. This first scene is what almost has to be a DC-8 -- from about the 1:00 mark on... is that correct? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ow8mG8qutkw And then there is this scene, supposedly at the 60's era KMIA. At the 2:29 mark, you can see an aircraft taking off, and I *think* it is a 707 -- but can someone confirm? It's not a DC-8, correct? Too much sweep on the wings? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0Tzfi5iLwc

Today I was doing the NDB 36 of GCLA, at Tesel I was on 117.7 TFN with R270 to R269 with a correct radial lecture on HSI. I started to prepare the approach and tuned 389 BX NDB (GCLA) and then tuned TFS VOR on NAV 2 116.4 to get the reference, as ARACO (IAF OF NDB 36 GCLA) is at D44 TFS and D24 of BV. the HSI of NAV 2 was showing NAV OFF ( No radial lecture) but it had a lecture(DME) of the distance from the present position to VOR (the first weird thing I did not understand). So I continue to R269 TFN from Tesel to ARACO 33 miles more (with no TFS reference), because is the distance of Araco from Tesel. Arriving at Araco I tuned 112.4 BV DME on NAV 1 and start tu…

It looks like a number of people are having trouble with the INS not following the flight plan when the autopilot is put into AUX mode. In most cases I think is happening after going to cold and dark and then starting up the aircraft. When you do this, you must enter the ramp position into each INS and align them. If you don't enter the ramp position, even though it already shows that position, alignment will not work and the INS won't function properly. Tomorrow or Monday I'll try to post a quick start INS guide.

I know this was supposed to be fixed with v1.02 but I still couldn't start my #2 engine (starting a new flight fixed it). The N2 RPM went up to about 20%, just like it was supposed to. After moving the fuel-control lever, however, the RPM did not increase any further. Starting the other three engines the same way was not a problem. When I began my next flight, everything was working as expected again.

Very Impressive overall. Lots to do and lots to learn. This is an aircraft with a lot of character and unique piloting. I want to thank Aerosoft for publishing this and I want to say that it is great value for money at a time when for the similar money one can alternatively buy just a set of liveries.
