NEW RELEASE: Aerosoft Antarctica Vol. 1 – British Rothera and Beyond 🐧
Now available for MSFS 2024!
Rothera is one of the most remarkable places in Antarctica. Perched on a rocky promontory beneath towering glaciers and mountains, surrounded by sea on three sides, with the peaks of the Antarctic Peninsula lining the eastern horizon.
The runway is squeezed tightly between the station's hangars and the sea at both ends, complete with a road crossing and working traffic lights. Think of it as a colder, far more remote Gibraltar. 🥶
On top of the main station, the package also includes two remote British outposts farther south: Fossil Bluff and Sky Blu. Together they form an authentic playground for polar operations, perfect for aircraft like the Twin Otter. ✈️
✨ Features:
🏔️ Highly detailed, up-to-date rendition of Rothera Research Station
🏗️ Recent additions such as the Discovery Building and the new runway lighting system
❄️ New terrain techniques developed specifically for this add-on: 3D detail for groomed skiways, rocks and snow
🦭 Extensive animations including wildlife, vehicles, boats and personnel
🔊 Custom sounds for animals and vehicles
🧊 Detailed glacier cliffs dramatically dropping into the sea around Rothera
🌊 Hundreds of thousands of animated icebergs around the base – which can make for some interesting approaches!
📡 Remote automatic weather and monitoring stations marked as POIs for challenging field trips and rough landings
🛬 Sky Blu and Fossil Bluff with custom models, enhanced terrain imagery and improved elevation data
🚨 Emergency glacier landing strip above Rothera for realistic operational scenarios
🗺️ Carefully crafted local terrain that blends naturally into the default landscape
📖 Comprehensive manual with dozens of pages of insider knowledge on flying in Antarctica, including flight plans and simplified maps
