STEP-BY-STEP: How to manually insert liveries

Recommended Posts

I was having the same issue with black textures for the interior. When I downloaded the livery from Aerosoft, the texture.cfg (in the zip file) displayed as indicated in number 1 below. However, I noticed that when I used the Livery Manager to install the livery, the texture.cfg was somehow rewritten as displayed in number 2 below. I was able to fix the issue. I installed the livery using the Livery Manager. I then opened the texture, once installed, and changed the texture.cfg to the proper format shown in number 1 below. The interior now displays properly. Hopes this helps others.

Number 1

fallback.1=..\..\Aerosoft A318-A319 Professional Base\Tex_FB_VC
fallback.2=..\..\Aerosoft A318-A319 Professional Base\Tex_FB_A31X

Number 2

fallback.1=..\..\Aerosoft A318-A319 Professional Base\Texture_Fallback_VC
fallback.2=..\..\Aerosoft A318-A319 Professional Base\Texture_FallBack_A319

HI sir,

I have download liveries for the new 320/21 airbus but CFM engine livries do not works for the 320 .. as Pegasus airlines and Turkish airlines a320.. is there also a topic for this fixs above there is only a explaination for 318/19

It's working actually for A320/321 too. Only texture.cfg have to copy (for A320) from another A320 texture folder to your livery folder.

And it looks like this... (texture.cfg) for A320 CFM

Here the long folder name can make problem. Prepar3D V4 got for some reason a maximum limit on characters for a complete path. It can be you exceeded that length. You can try to shorten back the livery folder name too BA_OOSSR. Not forget to adapt also

the line:            texture    = BA_OOSSR

Hey Stefan,
Do you know what is the actual limit?

I noticed (long time ago in FSX and later in P3D v3) that these sims doesn't like "spaces" in the "texture" line, especially when there is more than one.
However, if you change them to dots, the problem disappear. Tested it with ~25-26 characters.

So just as a tip if someone wonder and would like to test it, you could try this:

I too have issues installing liveries for the A320/321. The livery manager for that matter doesn't work at all. Neither does inserting the liveries manually. For example:

title                    = Airbus A321 Lufthansa D-AIRW Star Alliance
sim                    = A321
model                    =
panel                    =
sound                    =
texture                    = DAIRW
kb_checklists                = AirbusA321_check
kb_reference                = AirbusA321_ref
atc_id                    = D-AIRW
atc_airline                = Lufthansa
atc_flight_number            =
ui_manufacturer                = Airbus
ui_type                    = A321-131 IAE
ui_variation                = Lufthansa D-AIRW star Alliance
ui_typerole                = Commercial Airliner
ui_createdby                = Aerosoft
atc_parking_types            = GATE
description                = Aerosoft Airbus - A321 IAE / Lufthansa D-AIRW Star Alliance\nwww.aerosoft.com\nRepaint by Max Wohlerdt (maxwohlerdt.com/liveries)

fallback.1=..\..\Aerosoft A320-A321 Professional Base\Tex_FB_VC
fallback.2=..\..\Aerosoft A320-A321 Professional Base\Tex_FB_A321

CockpitPanel has also been changed. Some help would be nice! It worked on the before version, there shouldn't be much of a change other than a few folder names...

I've exactly 67 different liveries (european airlines) from various artist installed (dating back to 2013), all models and engine variants are covered and i don't have any problems at all. Installing manually is the method to go.

My example config:

title                                = British Airways Airbus A321 G-EUXG
sim                                = A321
model                            = EXTIAE
panel                             =
sound                            =
texture                          = British Airways G-EUXG
kb_checklists                = AirbusA321_check
kb_reference                 = AirbusA321_ref
atc_id                            = G-EUXG
atc_airline                      = SPEEDBIRD
atc_flight_number          =
ui_manufacturer             = Airbus
ui_type                           = A321-231 IAE
ui_variation                     = British Airways
ui_typerole                      = Commercial Airliner
ui_createdby                   = Aerosoft
atc_parking_types           = GATE
atc_parking_codes           = BAW
description                         = Airbus A320-231 with 2 x IAE V2533-A5 / British Airways PLC / Aerosoft  A320/A321 professional / www.aerosoft.com

Always delete all old mainpanel_whatever.dds and  texture.cfg, replace them with the new ones.

Hello all

Trying to get the liveries to work but no luck.  The instructions I went with are as follows; "To install this aircraft manually, please copy the following text into your 'aircraft.cfg',  inside the folder 'SimObjects\Airplanes\Aerosoft A319 CFM Professional'. Replace the X in [FLTSIM.X] by the next following number (like [FLTSIM.8])."

I have done all of this but do not know what you mean by "put the snippet after the last FLTSIM-object".   I have downloaded and installed three liveries, but only one works, the airbus 320.
