Talk to the management? Here's your chance...
Hey John, and everyone else! In forums, the perception of the writer is often different to varying degrees than the perception of the reader. A writer posts based on what's rolling around inside their head - things that the readers may not be aware of, so readers see it without the benefit of the thought process the writer had before and while posting. The three posts? Sure, keeping mind my paragraph 1 (above), you posted two links in a post that because the third post. Since your post contained the two links about the same over arching subject (the Survey), it because the third time you brought up the survey. Sure, at the end I picked up on the fact that you were downvoted, but the way you presented it the downvote was a lesser issue over the survey (one post about the downvote and three about the survey, even if you didn't intend it that way). Now, let me say this, I haven't downvoted a user in well over a year (might have been two or three years) because I believe it sets a bad precedent and it's bad PR for a staff member to downvote a customer or potential customers post. Besides, I viewed the voting system as something the COMMUNITY should use, not the staff. But these were my own personal views, and I tried to lead the way quietly by abstaining from using the downvote function. With the above in mind, IF I did downvote posts, I would have downvoted your post about the survey, likely for the same reason that you were downvoted by others. The survey data was like a soggy bowl of cereal, and the results were really next to meaningless. How do I know this? Because among many other professional certifications in the real, I am a certified quality control engineer and there are few professionals who understand statistics better than quality control engineers. Garbage in, garbage out. But if I downvoted posts here, the reason would have gone even deeper because those posts came across as you providing proof for something you wanted, but without an regard for the quality of the data and try as I might, my background makes me want to rail against such things. But I didn't downvote because of my policy not to downvote customer posts. Not only do people misuse the downvote function, but those who are downvoted are often perplexed as to why someone downvoted their post (as Mathijs said all throughout this discussion). This occurs for many reasons, chief among them that people here come from many varied backgrounds, cultures, languages, etc. 99.9% of our user base here are terrific, wonderful people and I've had the opportunity to speak (voice) with many of them, some of whom I'm happy have become friends of mine. And that's where I think I'd like to leave this... that all of us should be here to make friends. Shoot, flight sim is such a very small and unique community, so we have everything to become friends with one another, and I'm hopeful that our Connected Flight Deck Community which will open later this year, will become the soil necessary for many friendships to bloom. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Best wishes!

Talk to the management? Here's your chance...
John, I'm afraid I have to respond to you just as Mathijs and Tom did in the threads you cited. So I won't type it all again for you my friend, mine is the same as theres. I don't know why you think one of the top three developers and also the largest distributor in the flight sim world isn't aware of these surveys (on top of that, developers talk together ALL the time) or the severe problems with the data (that's comes from a certified Quality Control Engineer, though I won't teach a survey or statistics course here so I won't expand on that, you either believe me or don't believe me). But my friend, you really went overboard posting about this three different times, and that makes it appear that you found a survey, no matter how flawed, that support something you want. Well, we've seen the data, and we've formally responded to you about this twice. I'm going to leave this post, but let's not go off on a tangent either. But you can rest easy knowing that we've seen the data. Best wishes my friend!

Right here! CAVEAT 1: While the scenery in question worked well for me under P3DV4.3, I haven't tested it with P3DV4.4. Generally speaking it is not a good idea to add FSX scenery to P3Dv4 as it can cause problems including lower frame rates, but sometimes you can find third party created files that will update FSX scenery to P3Dv4 on websites such as inibuilds. Still, we know what some FSX scenery does work under P3D but to find which work is trial and error. This does not change our standard advice not to use FSX scenery in P3Dv4 unless it's been updated as described above. CAVEAT 2: We do not support FSX scenery usage in P3Dv4, therefore if you purchase FSX scenery and use it under P3Dv4 we will not provide a refund or support. Please take this seriously. CAVEAT 3: Do not ever, EVER run an FSX Scenery installer and point it to the Main P3D folder as people used to do with FSX, ESPECIALLY if your intent is to install FSX scenery to run under P3Dv4! Instead, install the sceney to a dummy folder you created (which may require FSX.EXE to be located in the dummy folder) and then use the XML method to add the scenery to P3Dv4. This method is described in great detail in the Lockh3eed Martin and Lorby's forums. Lorby's Addon Organizer for P3Dv4 is a wonder and easy to use tool to help you add scenery to P3Dv4. Okay, here are the steps: 1. Download Lorby's Addon Organizer (freeware), and read the documentation for adding scenery. Don't worry about Grouping Scenery or anything else for the moment, just adding scenery. 2. Create a new folder (anywhere you wish except not on the Desktop, and I wouldn't use the Documents folder either (I recommend placing scenery on a different hard drive if you are able to). Name the folder anything you wish, I created several such folders, naming them for the type of scenery, examples: FSX Scenery, P3Dv3 Scenery, P3Dv4 Scenery. Some scenery looks for the FSX.exe or Prepared.exe file before it installs, but then again others don't do this. To solve this issue copy and paste or create a new file named FSX.EXE into your FSX dummy scenery folder. The same goes for the Prepar3d.exe if you're working with P3D scenery. 3. Run the Scenery Installer, and point it to the special folder you created in Step 2 (above). If the scenery won't install there because it's looking for the Prepared.exe, you can copy that file from your main P3D folder and place it in the Special Folder you created in Step 2. Then re-run the scenery installer. IMPORTANT NOTE: If the scenery asks you if it should automatically add the scenery to the scenery.cfg file (it may say something like "automatically add to Prepared scenery library") answer NO. You don't ever want non-P3DV4 scenery to add itself to the scenery.cfg file... not EVER. 4. Start Lorby's Addon Organizer and add the scenery. You'll also be able to give the scenery a custom name, I always start the name with the airport ICAO code so I can locate scenery quickly, but you don't have to do this. Use Lorby's Addon Organizer to create a new Addon XML file and then edit the file to add any addition entries for Word/Scenery folders, Sound folders, Effects folders, etc. For information on how to use Lorby's Addon Organizer please see the Addon Organizer Documentation and the Lorby's forum on AVSIM. Best wishes!

Thanks for the input. Does the scenery below not cover what you're looking for? I know you said the entire island, but I'm not sure that is something that most people would be interested in purchasing, they care more about the airport itself and besides, the more custom, high end graphics that have to be loaded will affect frame rates. https://www.aerosoft.com/en/flight-simulation/prepar3d/sceneries/2173/canary-islands-professional-la-palma

The decision to charge a second, full price for PMDG aircraft between FSX and P3D was made by PMDG, not Aerosoft. Even though you made the error, this is FAR MORE than Aerosoft not having the ability to verify that you're not using the product in both FSX and P3D - people do (I'm one of them). You see, Aerosoft has to pay for each Serial Number they get from the original developer, and since serial numbers can't be re-used what you're really asking for is Aerosoft to pay for the price of this aircraft (serial number) because you selected the wrong product and then purchased it. I'm not blaming you for the mistake, we all make them. Maybe you haven't really thought this matter though from all sides, and you don't realize that what you're really asking for is for someone else to pay for your mistake. Brother, if you are aware of this and that is what you're trying to do, then that is WAYYYYYY UNCOOL of you. Terribly so. I really hope that's not the case. Best wishes.

Sometimes we don't see the quality of the people we work with even when it is right in front of us day in and day out, but sooner or later something happens to remind us of their quality and a sincere apology is at the top of these things. Mathijs is one of those few people who constantly earns our respect both as a person and leader in the flight simulation world.

Respectfully, what you need to understand is that while the products in question have the Aerosoft name, Aerosoft was not the developer, it was the distributor. I know that probably adds to the confusion for you. Since Aerosoft was not the developer, Aerosoft had to purchase serial numbers from the developer for those products as Mathijs said. As such, you are asking for Aerosoft to buy a product for you, and the margins are so small on these products that just can't happen - especially because if we did that for you, we'd have to do that for everyone who ever had a similar problem. I'm very sorry that the company you placed your money with went out of business. Maybe it's my age, I dunno, but I never do business with smaller distributors for that very reason even if it means getting a price break, out of concern they will not be around later. If I do make such a decision, I know that I'm assuming a certain degree of risk. I don't expect you to be happy with the situation the other distributor left you in, but the answer we've provided is nothing but open and honest, and that is how the matter must lay. My very best wishes to you.

I flown them both, and the Dash is IMO tremendously better. I was a senior Beta Tester on the Pro version for almost 6 years, and the pro version has many additionally options including the HUD and Shared Cockpit. The Dash 8 is likely one of the two best aircraft ever developed for desktop flight simulation - and I don't say that lightly. Best wishes.

Probably not. However if you like the ATR, then you've LOVE the Majestic Dash 8 Q400. It's a far more accomplished turbo prop than the ATR. Best wishes.

Sorry again that you're having issues, I can certainly understand you frustration. The Aerosoft Store software was recently changed to a new system, and apparently there have been some issues with some orders. Though I know that doesn't make you feel any better. I can only offer you my most sincere apology, and let you know that I've sent Mathijs a message to let him know and reference this thread. I can't tell you that the issue will be resolved this weekend, but there is a chance. If you can, please provide your Ticket Number in this thread so Mathijs will see it when he gets my message. It's the best I know how to do for you at this time. I know that patience is difficult post purchase, but I'm confident that the matter will be resolved. Thank you so very much for letting us know about the problem. My very best wishes to you.
