Help is needed with converting Flighaware coordinates into PFPX format.

There is a FP from flightaware, KSFO - LTBA, that I'd like to convert into PFPX format, but I don't know what to do with coordinates. Simple tutorial would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi  Dimon,

Flightaware uses a strange format there which isn't used in aviation.

A waypoint like 6200N 05000W is called 6250N in PFPX and in the ICAO routing format which is used for FlightPlans and also in the FMS of your airplane.

If you paste the Flightaware route in to the route editor and build it should result in:

Attached is a brief explanation of unnamed oceanic waypoints. I don't remember where I got it from. When you copy/paste FlightAware routes that have 5600N 09000W  you need to convert it to 4 digits and a letter such as 56N90. The following is an explanation on how to do the conversion so PFPX will build a route. If you use the long format from FlightAware PFPX will ignore those coordinates and build a route direct from the preceding named waypoint to the next name waypoint. The attached file needs to be opened with Word.

You only have to remove the spaces in the coordinates. For example, this Flightaware route from KATL to FAOR:

Bingo! Thanks heidem for that tip... I just finished a KLAX-YSSY DAL trip where they used 15 lat/lon waypoints. Your tip will be remembered.
