Start of Before Take-Off Checklist

Sealster

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been wondering for a while now if it is possible to turn off the automatic Before TO Checklist and just leave it on manual when approaching the rwy. I looked through the forum, but I couldn't find any related topic on the subject matter.

Thanks in advance.

Sealster,

You should be able to turn the copilot off by clicking the R1 LSK while under the CHECKLIST settings in the right MCDU. That will allow you to go through the checklist manually while the copilot will still call out each item to be checked.

If on the other hand, you mean to completely turn of the checklist function you can do so (L1 LSK while in CHECKLIST), but you'll have to wait a predetermined amount of time.

Best of luck,

- Caleb

How do we stop the unhygienic and highly annoying coughing from the mystery person in the cockpit?

  1. Turn the "coughing file" into a silent one (there's freeware around that can accomplish that).
  2. Stop hijacking other people's threads! :P

Ok, let me try this again. Is there a way through modifying a .cfg or .dll or whatever file to turn off the distance to runway measurement, so that the Before TO checklist event is triggered only by me pressing the "1" key and not automatically when it reaches a certain distance?

In the current development revision you can start the TO CL at any time using Key 1 or going to the right MCDU CHECKLIST A page and start it using LSK 5 R. I do not know when this has been implemented but maybe the functionlaity on the right MCDU CHECKLIST A page is already available in release 1.16. Please try. If not yet available then you have to wait until the next A320/321 release.

Hanse,

It would appear that Sealster is asking for a way to disable the automatic nature of the Before Takeoff checklist.

In version 1.16, you are given a countdown timer (in distance to the line up and wait point of the runway you've selected for takeoff in the MCDU). When you get within a certain distance of the point the Before Takeoff Checklist is automatically triggered if you have not already done so manually.

Sealster is looking for a way disable the automatic event trigger and have the Before Takeoff checklist run manually at his command.

I hope I have clarified this for you Sealster.

Best,

- Caleb

Appendix 1:

The following YouTube video shows this countdown on the Info Bar at the top of the screen. (5:38 into the video)

I'm confused why this is marked solved. As far as I can tell, Sealster's question has not been solved, I was just able to articulate the question more accurately.

I think I clearly stated what is possible e.g. how this CL manually can be started:

In the current development revision you can start the TO CL at any time using Key 1 or going to the right MCDU CHECKLIST A page and start it using LSK 5 R. I do not know when this has been implemented but maybe the functionlaity on the right MCDU CHECKLIST A page is already available in release 1.16. Please try. So I think I answered his question- until now he did not answer and therefore this thread has been solved from my point. But what we are not going to do is to remove the automatic start of the TO CL at all..... We can discuss at which point it automatically starts.

Hanse

Hanse,

Thank you for your clarification. 1.16 w/ HF 19 does indeed allow the user to manually start, but not prevent the decent checklist from starting.

Thanks,

- Caleb

Looks like I caused too much confusion. In that case I'll try to explain my question with examples. Let's say I'm on vatsim; I'm given instructions to taxi to and hold short of Rwy 27. Ok I reach the holding point of rwy 27, then I have to wait for an a/c to land. As soon as I reach the vicinity of the holding point the Copilot starts the Before TO checklist automatically, thus turning on all the lights, transponder and etc. while I have no TO clearance and there is an a/c on final. So can I without turning off the copilot disable the automatic start of the Before TO checklist upon reaching the holding point? I hope that clarifies it a bit.

I know exactly what you want and the simple answer is no, you cannot turn off the automatic start of the Before Take-Off Checklist.

As you mentioned, you could turn off the checklist functionality all together or you could turn off the CoPilot function so that the items will not happen. I believe turning off the CoPilot is the best way to go as you won't loose your place with the checklist.

Because I don't fly online, this is a perspective that I've not yet come across. Does activating the AXE's transponder to XPNDR or TA/RA show up on VATSIM as an active transponder and if so, I could definitively see this as a detriment to flying online.

It doesn't sound like Hanse is amenable to adding the feature you describe (though it may also not be technically possible in either case).

Best,

- Caleb

PS: An alternative that would work (and cost additional money) would be the FS2Crew for the AXE. This product would allow you to control when the checklist/flow starts.

PPS: I don't know if the MultiCrew Experience would work for this, though if the functionality is similar to the FS2Crew product, it could work as well.

  • Deputy Sheriffs

Hi,

with the next release the start procedure for the TO CL will be changed as follows:

Start Before Takeoff CL: There are 3 ways to start the CL:

  • To start the checklist (a completely programmed MCDU is required) you have to fully stop the plane after passing the runway holding point. The distance from your current position to the runway holding point is displayed in the Infobar.
  • You can start the CL manually using the MCDU 2 CHECKLIST menu option every time
  • Just use “1” on the keyboard

Hanse
