AALScott 1
Tomorrow Im planning to do a RRLS flt form YSSY to KLAX and need help with the airbourne RRLS procedure wth PFPX. If some one could help me out, It would be greatly apperciated. Also would a good redispatch a/p be a hawaiian a/p or say KSFO?

alpha117 51
Wow, not easy to understand!!! So, i'm still not sure when the re-dispatch FP is generated; is it at the dispatch/planning stage or during the flight? Clive
gary.mcginnis 18
Hello: This is actually my suggestion. Instead of using the re-dispatch procedures, I would actually use a reduced enroute reserve (10% to 5%). The real west coast to Australia flights usually do not use re-dispatch (especially west bound flights) since it either doesn't save as much as the true potential (east bound flights) or creates an "illegal" re-dispatch (west bound). I am not saying they don't do it on east bound flights occasionally, but the dispatcher will usually explore either B043, B343, and/or a B043-B343 combo for US air-carriers with the certification (e.g. United and Delta) first. If you use re-dispatch and an airport in Hawaii, you still have over 5 hours of flight time to still carry the 10% reserves. Now, if you still are planning to do a re-dispatch flight after reading the above, my suggestion would be PHNL with PHKO as the initial alternate or PHKO with PHNL as the initial alternate. Hope that helps, Gary
alpha117 51
OK, I must be really thick on this one. Just watched Gary's Video and read his posts over on the topcat forum and still non the wiser! So I have a flight from EGLL > KMCO what are the step by step stage for a re-dispatch? Are they: 1. Generate a OFP as normal EGLL > KMCO...do you release this FP? how do you know what the re-dispatch airport/WP is? Now this is were I'm lost. What do I have to do now to generate the re-dispatch flight plan in PFPX Clive
gary.mcginnis 18
Hi: OK here is the deal for your example.Dispatcher He/She generates a flight plan with three different fuel values. - One fuel value is for EGLL-KIAD (KIAD is just used for this example) - One for KIAD-KMCO - One for the total block fuel required based on the two previous fuel plans to meet the legal reserves Contained in the flight plan is what is known as a re-dispatch fix. This is the point at which the flight needs to have the legal reserves to continue to KMCO. From the re-dispatch fix is either a route to continue to KMCO or one to fly to KIAD. Pilots At least two hours from the re-dispatch fix, the crew gets in touch with the dispatcher and gets updated information to decide if they can continue from the re-dispatch fix to KMCO or divert to KIAD. The information contains the following: - Updated required fuel at the re-dispatch fix - Updated KMCO and alternate weather (if required) When the pilots cross that fix, they need to the have the required fuel or they have to divert to the initial destination of KIAD. To make things even more screwy, the flight plan is filed EGLL-KMCO but with an intermediate destination of KIAD and a re-dispatch fix and is shown in item 18 of the ICAO FPL as RIF/. EGLL--KIAD (via RE-DISPATCH FIX) RE-DISPATCH FIX--KMCO EGLL--KMCO BURN/TIME 80.0 / 09:30 11.5 / 01:45 91.5 / 11:15 10 % 10.5 / 00:57 3.5 / 00:11 3.5 / 00:11 FAR RSV 9.0 / 00:30 9.0 / 00:30 9.0 / 00:30 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REQUIRED: 99.5 / 10:57 24.0 / 02:26 RAMP FUEL: 104.0 / 11:56 The above is a very basic explanation but as you can see re-dispatch is simply a reduction to the enroute fuel (10%) requirements. alpha117 51
Just so I got this 1. generate FP EGLL > KIAD (press Compute) 2. Generate FP KIAD > KMCO (press Compute) Finally generate EGLL > KMCO using total block fuel from 1+2 (press compute and finally release) Re-dispatch fix is what in this example Sorry for being dumb on this! gary.mcginnis 18
Hi: No. PFPX automatically does all three computations if you put in the required data. The re-dispatch planning is found under the "advanced" tab. No need to actually do three separate computations.
