Matt_Smith 1116
Great shots Ian, seems that like myself you are liked by the weather gods
ManuelL 71
Nice shots Ian. Good luck for the 2nd leg. For me it took some getting used to - don't fly the DC-3 so often.
Ian Pearse 12
Thanks Manuel. I haven't flown the DC3 either, should be an interesting flight!
Ian Pearse 12
OK, leg 2 done now. Again, the weather gods were smiling onme, apart from a brief bit of turbulence about 50 miles out from Venice. Took me a while to get the heading hold and pitch hold set up properly, but fine from then on. The sounds on the default DC3 are not good at all - hope the JF one is better! Screenies below: On the ground in Nice - using the military surplus DC3 - or should that be C-47? Climbing out - nice view of the bay: Still climbing - passing the hills east of Nice: Almost feet dry again, passing Genova: Destination in sight, descending and turning to line up: Down at last. Off to the bar for a well-earned..... soft drink.... 3 legs to go: And here's the log:
maddz 737 55
I find it alot easyier to navigate in the defualt as the NDB needle is in view and piont to where you need to go..on JF's, thats not the case, unoyyingly. And yes the JF's sound are nice, nice pics too btw
Matt_Smith 1116
Very nice shots Ian, looks like you got to grips with the DC3 pretty easily. Ive found the easiest way to navigate with the DC3 is dead reconing. Mind you for that you really need a chart. I just print out a copy of the map from Plang and navigate in exactly the same way you would when flying on the PPL course. The JF DC3 sounds even better with the Sonic Solutions DC3 sound pack
Ian Pearse 12
OK, leg three now done. That approach down the valley into Sion is awesome! Superb scenery. My trusty Seneca did a good job, and now I'm off to find a good Gasthaus for the night. Here I am at San Nicolo running the checklists and stowing the Italian goodies... Lake Maggiore: In the valley, Sion in sight: Short finals for rwy 25: Down at last, time to stretch: Lastly, the all-important log: Hopefully, I can get the remaining legs done tomorrow evening. Ian Pearse 12
OK, leg 4 done now - great fun valley flying the Lear Jet into Innsbruck... a bit scary when a few puffs of cloud came by! Pics below: On the ground at Sion ready to go.: Climbing out through the clouds... very murky off the end of the runway: Finally, runway in sight, and lining up for a very nice landing: And.... relax!: And now, the logbook - 4 down, 1 to go. Time to get the Spit out.

Ian Pearse 12
And finally... leg 5. Fun flying the Spit, with a victory roll over the field before landing! What a hooligan! Glad to leave Innsbruck and the rain. The poor guy who flew the Spit out from Andras for me had to go back by bus and train - I promised him a beer or three in return! Here we are en-route, in glorious sunshine: Andras Field in sight, and down we go: And the Victory Roll over the field heh heh And we're down for a well-earned rest: The log.... 5 down.... didn't think I'd make it, but got lucky with the chores I had a lot of fun doing that little lot. The actual challenge will hopefully be even more so.
