Aerosoft VDGS Shift+V no longer works after EDDF install.

Hello everyone. My Shift+V no longer responds input. I press this combination, and it doesn't work. I tried everything: I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the three modules in Aerosoft one many times, I checked my exe, it looks good, I even did the log and its clear, I even ran everything as administrator and still nothing, I am at my wits end and I need help. I don't know what's going on, it worked last month. I doesn't matter what I do, Shift+V won't bring up the UI and I am unable to use VDGS.

Please help,

Hi,

Could you try changing the keybinding to see if this resolves the issue at all? You can do this by going into the aerosoft-vdgs-driver folder which is located within your community folder and then running the shortcut named "aerosoft-vdgs-driver -options". You can then rebind the key - You will need to restart the sim after changing the key.

Thank you for getting back to me. I have tried it before. But, I haven’t restarted the sim after I tried another key combination aka “binding”. I am currently at work. I can do this as soon as I get back to my PC and report back. Thanks again. I will post my results today after 5pm EST.

I will also post my VDGS log and my exe to further help you diagnose this. Thanks again.

I am experiencing the same problem.
After I bought the new EDDF scenery and updated VDGS, it is no longer working.
I have tried to change the keybinding, but unfortunately that didn´t help.

Hi. I tried to rebind the key, but it doesn't work. When I try to pull up the UI it does nothing. Here is the log and the exe.

I know. I tried everything and it still doesn't work. The UI won't even pop up.

Hello - Yes, I can confirm we are looking into this. It looks like the program is not getting past its initial start as all those with this issue seem to have empty log files, so it's something the developer will need to investigate. We'll update here and via tickets (if you have created one), as soon as we have an update on this.

Hi,

for all of us customers who have airports with Aerosoft's VDGS but not bought new Frankfurt Mega Airport can you give us the opportunity to download the latest version before 1.9.0.0? VDGS Driver version was 1.8.0.1.

With that we could have VDGS working! Tried that with a friend yesterday who has yet not updated.

Regards

Hans

Which developer do you mean? Aerosoft or NoolAero? I created a ticket and never got a response. Will you post the update here or in Aerosoft One? Thanks.

Updated to version 1.9.0.1 of Aerosoft's VDGS Driver and still have no VDGS on all my VDGS supported airports like EDDB, EDDM v2. The log is empty and the driver not loaded when executing MSFS2020.

Any help appreciated.

Regards

Hans

Hi guys,

I am investigating the issue you all are seeing.

First, I found an issue with the latest vdgs airport definition file for Frankfurt, which would prevent the airport from being selectable from the vdgs driver menu in the first place. This file will be fixed via AO. But then the vdgs driver should still continue to work with your other airports, so there must be something else at play.

In order to investigate this, please make sure to open up aerosoft-vdgs-driver-log.ini setting "Verbose=1" and saving, which should give you full logging output the next time you run the sim and try to bring up the vdgs driver user interface being parked at a gate with vdgs. Then you can attach your log file again in here which should hopefully contain some content.

Also, please check out the windows event viewer to see whether the vdgs driver might have crashed.

Hi Hans,

thanks: please try download and install the latest C++ x64 runtime library from this site. The file to download is called "vc_redist.x64.exe".

Thanks for looking into this, but unfortunately none of the airports that use the Aerosoft VDGS work. The UI doesn't even respond to Shift+V or any other command. I even turned off my Windows defender and nothing. So, it's all Aerosoft airports, not just EDDF.

Never mind, I installed the Windows Redistributable files you posted above and it fixed the issue for the other Aerosoft Airports. EDDF is the only one left that doesn’t respond to Shift+V.

I have also installed the Windows Redistributable file and nothing happens when using shift+V. It has to be started manually and dosen´t show any gates at Frankfurt.

Ok...so we are at least a step closer: can you please provide me with the log file, after having set "Verbose=1" as described above, and having opened up the vdgs ui being parked at the gate in Frankfurt?

Hi Peter,

we have to be distinctive with the different problems users are experiencing. So just to be clear: judging from your only other post above it seem the vdgs-driver was always working in some capacity, at least after starting it up manually. If it does not auto-start, this points to a problem with your "exe.xml" file, but is a different problem, than the one this thread is about.

If you can start the vdgs-driver manually, after being parked at a gate in Frankfurt, bring up the vdgs-driver user interface and this just showing up empty, then please follow the same instructions I gave in this post above yours:

Hi @BenBaron
Let me start from the beginning just to avoid any confusions (I hope).

When Frankfurt was released I bought it a few days later and during the install I noticed that there was an update for Aerosoft VDGS which I also installed.
After the update VDGS stopped working, also with ENGM and EBBR.
It didn´t come up when using shift+V or when I started the .exe file from the library.

I also tried setting Verbosen=1 which didn´t help.
But when I flew to EDDF there was a DGS active, not sure if it was Aerosoft or Nool.

Yesterday you posted that HansW should try updating the Windows Redistributable file which I decided to try as well.
Aerosoft VDGS still didn´t open with Shift+V unless I had manually started the .exe file.

I have also checked the exe.xml file and there is an entry for Aerosoft VDGS.

Thanks for the clarification Peter:

but that means that now you can at least run it and it works again with ENGM and EBBR like it did before, right? Just that with EDDF it does not show you any entries, correct? If yes, please provide me with a new log file as detailed in my previous post.

Hi Ben,

I can run Aerosoft VDGS at ENGM, EBBR and EDDF again. The problem with EDDF was it was the wrong config file that was used (GSX by default).

I still however have to manually start the .exe file to be able to use the VDGS.

Hi Peter:

glad it is at least working for you manually starting the vdgs driver, again. If you want to you can attach/pm your exe xml file for me to also take a look regarding the auto start issue.
