Deputy Sheriffs mopperle 4162 Posted October 1, 2015 Deputy Sheriffs Share Posted October 1, 2015 Are you sure your Win7 is up to date with at least SP1 installed?Alternatively download the libraries from Microsoft directly and install them: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=48145
yianmour 0
i also want to mention that i ve used PFPX since last April without any problems.... now i ve performed a format and installig everything from the beggining ... maybe i sould use a previus version?? well , no it is not.... i will update now
Deputy Sheriffs Tom A320 4915 Posted October 1, 2015 Deputy Sheriffs Share Posted October 1, 2015 Please download and install the Microsoft libraries from the link Otto gave in his answer. The PFPX installer unfortunately includes a wrong version of the 64bit version. You need to install both, 32 and 64 bit.

PFPX cannot start though.Tried to run files mentioned above (as admin) but without success. vcredist_x64 seemed to work, vcredist_x86 triggers error message: 0x80240017 Unspecified error.Error log states:...[12C8:110C][2015-10-05T21:02:42]e000: Error 0x80240017: Failed to execute MSU package.[0280:0B0C][2015-10-05T21:02:42]e000: Error 0x80240017: Failed to configure per-machine MSU package.[0280:0B0C][2015-10-05T21:02:42]i319: Applied execute package: Windows81_x64, result: 0x80240017, restart: None[0280:0B0C][2015-10-05T21:02:42]e000: Error 0x80240017: Failed to execute MSU package.[12C8:110C][2015-10-05T21:02:42]i372: Session end, registration key: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{74d0e5db-b326-4dae-a6b2-445b9de1836e}, resume: ARP, restart: None, disable resume: No[12C8:110C][2015-10-05T21:02:42]i371: Updating session, registration key: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{74d0e5db-b326-4dae-a6b2-445b9de1836e}, resume: ARP, restart initiated: No, disable resume: No[0280:0B0C][2015-10-05T21:02:42]i399: Apply complete, result: 0x80240017, restart: None, ba requested restart: No By the way, the distributed vcredist_x64 is about half as large as the same file from microsoft.com (?)Any ideas?(Thanks in advance...)Running on Win 8.1 on an AMD A6-5400K APU with Raedon HD Graphics 3.90GHz / 64 bits system (x64 processor)
Deputy Sheriffs mopperle 4162 Posted October 5, 2015 Deputy Sheriffs Share Posted October 5, 2015 Take the files from Microsoft, both 32bit and 64bit versions and try again
Deputy Sheriffs Tom A320 4915 Posted October 5, 2015 Deputy Sheriffs Share Posted October 5, 2015 By the way, the distributed vcredist_x64 is about half as large as the same file from microsoft.com (?)Any ideas? As I wrote above (#6) the 64bit version of the vcredist package which is included in the PFPX installer is the wrong version (2012 instead of 2015). That's why Otto pointed to the Microsoft downloads (#4).Please also read a topic before you add to it.
Frank_PMI 0
Dear Tom and Otto,First of all, thank you for your help. Second, I have read the whole thread and done as described above. I have tried with the MS files but to no avail. Just tried again, now. Both files (x86 and x64) trigger the same error messages as mentioned before. No improvement.Vielen Dank und hoffentlich bis später...Gruss, Frank

Deputy Sheriffs Tom A320 4915 Posted October 6, 2015 Deputy Sheriffs Share Posted October 6, 2015 Hello Frank and chevol,on all my systems (Win7, Win8 and Win8.1) the setup of the redistributables worked without issues.I just Googled for the given error code (0x80240017) and it looks like that this problems occurs if not all latest Windows Updates are installed. Please run Windows Update to make sure all available updates are being installed on your system.
