Why the heck is the ND showing that route?

Even if your flight plan is perfect the Airbus in FSX has a nasty tendency to show a route that even your grandma would understand makes no sense. Even worse sometimes the aircraft actually tries to fly that silly route! We know, we got dozens of examples and we have experienced it ourselves many many times. Sometimes the only way to follow a route shown on the ND would need an Immelmann turn, something the Airbus computers seriously frown upon.

These issues are cause because the databases used by our bus (and the real bus, the database is the same) are not always complete. Sometimes they send the aircraft from point A to B and then back to A without indicating is the last turn should be left or right. Sometimes there are bugs in the database.

Everybody who tried to navigate the Paris Peripherique with a navigation system will understand the issue. The data is there but it can be interpreted in several ways. And if you think the navigation system in an Airbus A320 is more advanced than in your 2015 model TomTom you are mistaken. Sadly mistaken. That's not an issue because just like you in your car to decide there are two highly trained professionals in an Airbus flightdeck. They see it makes no sense, take control and fly what is logical. That's when pilots make their money.

I got literally dozens of examples how the Airbus navigation systems mess up. Pilots love to photograph that, they are just reluctant to have these images shared. It's not good pr. Honestly the few I can share here are modest compared to the mess that is often shown.

Of course, as we simulate the real aircraft the main issue is if OUR bus messes up more than the real bus. And yep, it does. Just as Airbus often we need to fix the issue for one approach at a time. And there Airbus Industries has lot more resources then we do. But if you report them we'll try to fix them!

Interesting you raised this one, have seen a couple of that in real life :)

Still the real bus is one of the most amazing aircrafts and the virtual one is following :)

Hi

It's really important to have posted this as many, like myself, thought it was just an unsolvable bug. Thanks for this, now it makes sense.
