darrro87 3
Hi, i have a question about charts LPMA Madeira http://www.ukvirtual.co.uk/dl/charts/lpma.pdf Approaching on "Cirlcing RWY23 VOR/DME" by STAR LIDRO4A. Abusu Waypoint is for me IAF, then 212 heading (R 32 inbound) to FUN and what next ? could i passed FUN and heading 237 to rwy23 or i must go R 016 outbound and once again Abusu, FUN ? i dont understand "Circling VOR/DME.. " chart. For RWY05 there is also circling VOR/DME procedure, could someone explain wht does it mean ? I know what mean Circle-to-land, this is the same? thanks
Chaders 97
Hi, Just head 237 to the runway. Once past FUN it's a visual maneuver to final. The term Circling VOR/DME is generally used when the offset between the final approach course and the runway centre line is greater than 30 degrees. It can be designated a circling approach (with the higher minima required) if this offset is less than 30 degrees. The important thing to remember is the final part of the approach must be flown with reference to the ground.
