musefan
Hi all. Looking forward to getting this tour underway. I enjoyed the RTW tour, so this one should be just as much fun. Mathijs said that using different aircraft is encouraged, so in that case I'll be using the PMDG 737, the Aerosoft CRJ 700 and the Aerosoft Airbus A320 (if it's released). I've also recently purchased Carenado's Phenom 100 business jet, so I hope to try and learn how to fly it if I have time. I'm using P3Dv4, so you have to excuse me for using a lot of default airports. I will try and purchase some more airports as they become available. I've recently become a single man so I have a little bit more money to spend than usual lol. I'd probably be better off saving up for a new PC, but I'm rubbish at saving. I'll be using Active Sky for P3Dv4 for real world weather, and I'll be using PFPX for flight planning.

musefan
First leg completed, from London Gatwick, to sunny Nice on the south coast of france. PFPX was giving a very silly SID out of Gatwick, so we decided to go full rebel and make up our own departure procedure. Our flight plan took west of Paris and on down through central France Getting our final preparations at gate 102 before pushing back Taxiing out to runway 08R behind an extremely slow Easyjet A319 or A319, I can't remember which Departing Gatwick about 5 minutes behind schedule Climbing to our assigned cruise altitude of 37,000 feet, as we cross the English Channel A nice of the wonderful city of Paris from FL370 off to our right Descending through 30,000 feet, with a nice view of the Pyrenees Mountains I thought we were a lot closer to our destination than we actually were, so I was fully configured for landing a bit early. Not the end of the world. Better to be early than rushing it at the end. We are shooting the ILS for runway 04L. We were originally assigned 04R, but I seem to remeber having a problem in that the localiser for 04R is slightly off centre. So we didn't take any chances. We make a nice landing at Nice, about 10 minutes ahead of schedule We park at stand 48A, but there seems to be a problem. GSX doesn't seem to recognise the gate numbers. Not to worry, it was a good first flight to the tour and hopefully we will have many more like it.
gazoeller
Hi Neal, glad you had a chance to participate also in this tour around the world. Looks like you are now the front runner and not the follow-up guy. Keep one flying! Gernot

There are time constraints with this tour so I'll have to be on top of things this time and forget all about real life
musefan
Leg 2 takes us from Nice to Corfu. It's another lovely day for flying, so on with the show. Our planned route takes us toward Milan, before making a slight right turn down the length of Italy toward the Greek island of Corfu, very popular with holiday makers Today's weather shows en-route winds coming from the west, which should help us on our way We begin where we left off yesterday, at Gate 48A at Nice. Despite all my attempts, once again, I just can't get GSX to understand that we are parked at a gate, and not out in the middle of the airfield. Luckily we have our air-stairs at the ready, and we can get our passengers safely on board. We are sharing the apron with an Airbus A320, owned by our fellow Irish operator, Aer Lingus. We get clearance to taxi to runway 04R Nice smooth take off, we take the BASI6A SID departure to the northeast out of Nice, which includes a very early sharp right turn We keep our climb going towards FL330 Across the Apennine Mountains to the East we have the tiny Independent state of San Marino, home of the famous Imola F1 Grand Prix, where I believe Brazilian racing legend Ayrthen Senna was tragically killed. Descending through FL270, right on the sourthern tip of Italy, we can the coastline of Albania to the east We take the VOR approach for runway 35 at Corfu. We get clearance to taxi to stand 3. It's a beautiful 22 degrees here, not a cloud to be seen. Another flight done and dusted. Next stop, Crete.
musefan
So leg 3 will take us from Corfu, on a short 75 minute hop down to the island of Crete. Our planned route takes right down through mainland Greece Looking like favourable winds again We are currently parked at stand 3 at Corfu airport making our final preparations. Passengers are loaded up and we're almost ready to go We need to backtrack down Corfu's only runway so we can swing around and line up for take off on runway 35 We take off about 20 minutes behind our scheduled departure time, due to P3D crashing on me We climb through 12000 feet to our designated cruise altitude of FL350 We have passed our TOD and we are now descending though 32000 feet We are assigned the VOR DME approach for runway 27 We park at stand 7, although GSX doesn't seem to have the stands lined up properly
musefan
Had to cancel yesterday's flight to Port Said. I'm having some computer trouble. So I've already fallen a bit. Hope to get sorted out soon and catch up again.
musefan
Our PC is back in the game, so we can complete our flight to Port Said. We depart Heraklion from Runway 27, and we immediately make a right turn, following the SIT2D SID departure procedure. Our route then take us south east, where we originally plan to land on runway 28 at HEPS. We will later amend this to land on runway 10. Parked at gate 8, our final preparations are underway We taxi out to runway 27 We take off and prepare for an immediate right turn We seem to be missing the next screenshot, but basically we keep our climb going up to our assigned cruise altitude of 37,000 feet. Unfortunately our entire cruise was over water so we have no images, as they weren't worth capturing. We begin our descent just as we reach the north coast of Egypt, before we make a left turn toward Port Said. We dial in the frequency for the Port Said VOR, as we keep our decent going, in preperation for our approach. We will be taking the VOR DME approach for runway 10. We reach the Port Said VOR at an altitude of 3,000 feet. We then turn left to a heading of 317, for a total of 7 DME, while descending to 1,400 feet. Then we turn left again and drop our landing gear to line up with runway 10. It's a reasonably smooth landing, although we are right of centre. We park up at gate 9. We are back on schedule. We have 11 days to get to Bombay. Easy!
musefan
Really fell behind. Obviously we are not going to make it to Mumbai by the 23rd . Oh well, we'll keep going anyway. Our proposed route for today So we are still parked up at gate 9 at Port Said, taking on almost 8 tonnes of fuel We take off from runway 28, where we will get vectored onto our first waypoint It a 2 hour flight and the scenery is pretty horrendous, unless you like lots of sand. Here we are just after reaching our assigned altitude of 37000 feet About 75 miles from our top of descent now, and the view is just as mundane as it was earlier After making a right turn out across the red sea, to get onto our STAR arrival, descending through 14000 feet Approaching our FAF at 2200 feet Landing ILS approach for runway 34L at King Abdulaziz International, Jeddah. Parked at gate 3, next stop Dubai.
musefan
Oh dear oh dear, we are so far behind. We need to get to Dubai next. here is our planned route generated by PFPX: We are currently parked at gate 5 at King Abdulaziz International, Jeddah, where we just awaiting pushback: We make the long taxi out to runway 34R Take off Climbing through 8,000 feet taking the EGRE1N departure SID Climbing nicely for 41,000 feet, we see the familiar boring terrain Passing through the Gulf, we descend through 23,000 feet Taking the DESD1B STAR arrival for ILS runway 12R On final Safely on the ground at FlyTampa's Dubai Parked up at OMDB, Dubai, gate A3 with all the big guns Next stop will be Karachi in Pakistan. I really need to get a move on to try and get back on schedule.
akanishta99
Nice plane! It looks like we're in about the same place. I'm just across the water to the east.
musefan
On to Karachi, Pakistan: Finishing up preperations at gate A3 in Dubai Taxiing out to runway 12R behind an Emirates 777 A routine take off onto the RIKE3G departure SID Climbing for FL390 Cruising along the Iranian southern coast at 39,000 feet, just entering Pakistani airspace Taking the ILS for runway 24R, it's quite foggy today at Jinnah International, Karachi. Also, the ILS seems to be slightly off-centre Taking manual control we land safely Parked up at gate 22 where we will rest over. Our next stop will be Mumbai. musefan
Next we move on to Mumbai Pushing back from gate 22 at Karachi Quite foggy as we taxi out to runway 25R Climbing out of runway 25R where we will get vectored onto the DANG3A SID Crusiing down the west coast of India at FL390 Really tricky VOR approach for runway 32 in the fog. We hit hard, but we were safe enough, even managed to get on the centreline. It's not easy hand flying when your framerates drop to stupid levels because of fog. I need a new PC Parked at gate C3. Apparantly Mumbai doesn't have any suitable gates for a 747. So it looks like the Ryanair NGX will be out for the next leg to Calcutta
musefan
Off to Calcutta Ready to push back from gate 22 at Mumbai Taxiing out to runway 32, the fog from the past few days still hasn't shifted, and Active Sky tells us that Calcutta isn't going to be much better Take off Climbing through 10,000 feet, we get a look at the new Rex Texture Direct with Soft Clouds that I recently purchased. I wish they would hurry up and update their HD Airport package for P3Dv4. Climbing through 28,000 feet and the cloud is beginning to thin out Cruising at our assigned altitude of 37,000 feet Descending through 11,000 feet No runway in sight at 800 feet We land on ILS runway 19R. The default frequency is wrong, and when we figured it out it was also slightly offset to the left Parked at gate
musefan
Now we move onto Bangkok Pushing back from gate 46 at Calcutta Taxi out to runway 19R Take off Clmbing through 6,000 feet and it looks like we could be in for a bumpy ride Continuing our climb through 25,000 feet for our assigned cruise altitude of 39,000 feet We hit our TOD just as we pass into Thai airspace Descending through 11,000 feet, our VNAV has taken us a little lower than we should be. On short final for runway 21R Landing Parked at gate 22 at Don Mueang International, Bangkok
musefan
Heading for Vietnam Pushing back from gate 22 at Bangkok Taxiing out to runway 21R Take off Climbing through 5,000 feet Keeping our climb going through 18,000 feet for our cruise altitude of 41,000 feet Beginning our descent shortly sfter entering Vietnamese airspace Passing the Catbi VOR at 7,000 feet, we get a glimpse of the fog. Apart from Bangkok, the last few airports have been really bad with fog and they are killing my framerates Taking the VOR approach for runway 25, in the fog, only to discover the frequency wasn't working until it was too late. We ended up taking a "blind visual" approach and we hit hard, but we're still in 1 piece Who's bright idea was is to fly to an airport with no parking? Oh, yeah it was mine
musefan
Our proposed route to Hong Kong Take off from runway 25 Climbing 11,000 feet Climbing through 29,000 feet Just reaching our cruising altitude of 41,000 feet as we enter Chinese airspace Descending through 19,000 feet, just after entering Hong Kong airspace On short final We land on 07R, but someone in the tower is getting sacked in the morning for clearing us to land with another aircraft already on the runway preparing for departure Parked at gate E15 at Hong Kong
musefan
Moving on to Shanghai Pushing back from gate E15 at VHHH Taxiing out to runway 07R, looks like the fog has lifted Take off Climbing past 10,000 feet, lights off Climbing through 31,000 feet Cruising at 39,000 feet just passing back into Chinese airspace Descending through 34,000 feet as we approach teh Shengzhou VOR Fully configured for ILS runway 35R We might have a tail strike to check out Parked at gate 12 at Pudong, Shanghai

musefan
Next stop is Tokyo All fueled up, passengers on board, and we can push back from gate 12 at Shanghai Taxiing out to runway 35R Take off Climbing through 10,000 feet Still climbing through 31,000 feet Heading out across the East China Sea, cruising at 44,000 feet, due to a very light load we are carrying Just starting our descent Landing on ILS runway 23 Parked at gate
musefan
Not going to make the deadline unfortunately. Real life got in the way. But we will get there eventually. Next stop will be Yuzhno. Here is our proposed route We are currently parked at gat 42 at Tokyo Haneda Take off from runway 34R As we are climbing, we hit an altitude restriction of 12,000 feet, so we have to level out for 5 minutes or so Crusing As we descend through 30,000 feet we are taking a right good battering from a 140kt crosswind Making our approach, coming down to 5000 feet Landing on runway 19 Parked at gate
