Abbreviated Checklists for the Airbus A318 - DOWNLOAD HERE

I've written a set of Checklist for the A318 for people who are short on time but want to get the most out of the new Airbus A318.

I have optimised the flows to work with the Checklist and Co-Pilot options set to ON in the Airbus menu.

My Checklist is not a manual, it assumes that you can programme a flightplan, understand how to read a SID/STAR and have completed at least one tutorial flight successfully.

I use GSX for ground services, ASN for weather and VoxATC, with the First Officer operating the radios, as well as Navigraph Charts.

That last sentence is not meant to sound like an advert, that's just the combination that I have found works best for me and this is reflected in the Checklists.

If VoxATC instructs you to descend before you have reached Cruise level, acknowledge the request but remain at your current height until the Descent Checklist becomes available.

This won't be a problem as VoxATC always instructs you to descend earlier than necessary.

UPDATE 03.10.14

Tegwyn, the creator of VoxATC has provided instructions on how to get VoxATC to instruct you to descend later. See below.

You can get VoxATC to descend you later by setting a value in a config file.

Go to c:\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Internal Workings\VoxATC X

Find the file VASettings.xml and make a backup copy of it.

Under <Settings> Add a new line

<DescentRatio Value="4.0" />

Set the value to greater than 3.5 to make voxATC descend you earlier..

Ensure that you add these lines exactly as shown. The case of the characters is important for example you need to use Value not value or VALUE.

Enjoy.

As an aside does anyone else complete full flights from cold and dark to landing without checklists?

I know this is a total NO-NO in the real world but the great thing about the Bus is that even though it's more complicated than the standard planes it's also very intuitive and can easily be memorised so procedures become natural and I have not used the co-pilot or checklists for ages.
