danbw 7
Hello all, So, I finalised my set-up: Intel Core i7-4790K 4x4.00GHz (Turbo 4.40GHz) Asus Z97-A Motherboard Vision X-Series SIlent V2 Gaming Case Kingston 8GB DDR3-2400Hz HyperX FURY Asus GeForce GTX770 2GB OC (with DirectCU II cooler) Raidmax 835W Power Supply Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD 1TB Seagate Barracuda (7200rpm, 6GB/s) Antec Kuhler H20 650 Asus Crystal Sound 2 (Dolby Home Threatre & DTS) Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit The SSD is supposed to be my primary drive, even though its not the largest, and I would like to know whether with this case, it will be possible to install only FSX on the SSD with it being the primary, boot-drive. I would like to install Windows on my HDD, which is my secondary drive. I am just wondering if this will make a difference (the fact that the HDD is not the primary and the way I want to set it up). Thanks in advance and help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Dan
Aerosoft Aerosoft Team [Inactive Account] 51558 Posted July 29, 2014 Aerosoft Share Posted July 29, 2014 I would not advise installing Windows on anything but the primary drive. Why not make the HD the primary drive and install FS on the SSD. That's how I did it. I got an 256Gb SSD just for FSX.
danbw 7
I would rather have my PC start up quickly so, I am kind of stuck here
Aerosoft Aerosoft Team [Inactive Account] 51558 Posted July 30, 2014 Aerosoft Share Posted July 30, 2014 Of course anybody uses his hardware different but that would save me perhaps a few seconds a week. I restart my system once a week just to clear it fully, coming out of sleep mode is near instant these days.
Deputy Sheriffs mopperle 4162 Posted July 30, 2014 Deputy Sheriffs Share Posted July 30, 2014 I strongly advice to follow Mathijs suggestion. I meanwhile have everything on SSD (1TB for FSX) and yes Windows and programs start faster, but that's only relevant for once a day.
