How to dampen the trim button in MSFS using Axis and Ohs.

It has been reported that the trim control is slightly too reactive, not allowing for fine adjustment.

This is due to the input scan rate being too fast.
By the time you release the control used to increase the trim by one increment, two or more increments have been triggered.

This tutorial will show you how to overcome this by using Axis and Ohs.

NOTE :
We will not cover the use of Axis and Ohs itself.
There is a more detailed tutorial available here :

STEP 1:
Make sure to the elevator trim assignments in MSFS are removed.

STEP 2 :

Start Axis and Ohs.
1 – Click “+” in the “Assigned Buttons” pane
2 – When the “Add Button Assignment” box appears, click the arros in the “Key Down Event” entry zone.

Please login to display this image.

STEP 3 :
From the Simulator Event menu, select :

1 – “Aircraft Flight Controls”
2 – “ELEV_TRIM_DN” (Double click)

Please login to display this image.

STEP 4 :

1 – Move the appropriate control (Wheel / Switch / Button)
2 – Check “Repeat”

3 – Select “Med”
4 – Click “Add”
NOTE : In this example, we use the trim wheel of the Honeycomb Bravo throttle.
The exact same procedure applies to any device as long as the control used is a digital input. (No analog axis)

STEP 5 :
The newly assigned button will appear in the list.
Click “+”

STEP 6 :
Repeat the same steps for the ELEV_TRIM_UP function

STEP 7 :
Both functions now appear in the “Assigned buttons” list

You are all set !

In the video below, I illustrate the way the trim works when assigned to the “ELEVATOR TRIM UP” and “ELEVATOR TRIM  DOWN” functions.
It is obviously too fast for fine control.
Then I apply the steps below for a much more “damped” result.
NOTE :
The video shows the procedure applied to the Honeycomb yoke trim button.
