How to configure a single axis throttle with the Aerosoft CRJ.

There is not much difference with the the dual axis throttle quadrant.

The main difference is the function assignments in Flight Simulator.

THROTTLE CONTROL :
Instead of binding each engine separately, the single throttle lever is assigned to the “THROTTLE AXIS” function.
This function controls all the engines together.
Differential thrust is therefore not possible.

NOTICE : In some cases, it has been reported that the THROTTLE AXIS isn't recognized.
In this case ONLY, try using
THROTTLE 1 AXIS

REVERSERS CONTROL :

Reversers are either triggered by the lower portion of the throttle axis (if the lever has a detent to split the reverse portion from the throttle portion  ),
either by a contact. (this contact can be either a button of the throttle quadrant, or an ON/OFF contact at the bottom of the lever)

- If the reversers  are triggered by the lower portion of the throttle axis, this has to   be specified in the CRJ EFB.
No reversers assignment is made in the simulator Controls configuration panel.

- If the reversers are triggered by a contact, this contact must be assigned to the “DECREASE THROTTLE” function
in the the simulator Controls configuration panel.

The videos below describe step by step the throttle and reversers assignment in different throttle quadrant configurations

Please note that the devices used in the videos are for example only.
Any other device with the same structural configuration will work exactly the same way.

Also, make sure the sensitivity of the throttle axis is linear :

CASE #1 :
Single axis with reverser portion. Reverser will be configured in the EFB

CASE #2 :
Single axis with no reverser portion. A separate button will be assigned to the DECREASE THROTTLE function

CASE #3 :
Single axis with no reverser portion. Throttle lever has an built-in switch that will be assigned
to the DECREASE THROTTLE function

For the sake of clarity, I have always created  new profiles from scratch in the simulator.
This is the best way to avoid unwanted/unknown bindings simply by knowing what you do and what exactly is configured and set up.

Once again, DO NOT rely on so-called automatic/default/plug&play assignment or “out of the box” configuration.
