As far as I am aware, this project will stay on track but will ask who will take it over.
I am afraid it will be a while before it is clear what the future brings, the plans are rather massive, but a lot of things need to be arranged and we want to have it all lined up before telling about it. Super exited though!

There has never been any moment in the 21 years I worked for Aerosoft that I was not handling at least five projects. So no matter at what moment I would leave, it would always be in the middle of multiple projects. The reason I leave is rather mundane. I was simply uncomfortable with decisions and how Aerosoft was being run. That happens, and it is no drama. Every employee will face that at some point. I just happen to get a job offer from a competing company that was extraordinarily attractive.
There is no bad blood between me and Aerosoft, as I have seen suggested. Just an employee that leaves a company. The fact it became 'news' and even featured in some videos was a bit of a surprise to me. According to my wife, also incredibly bad for my ego.

It also has to run properly on the consoles -
I did not even consider that. You are 100% right, though. That fact locks it squarely in the current hardware demands.

As FS2024 is built using the same Asobo engine, I would expect very little (if any) change in system requirements. As before, you will need a solid CPU to get enough FPS and a solid GPU to make them look good. Surprisingly, people seem to forget that simple rule all the time.

Other than that it is being worked on as we speak, not.
The 'limiting' factor is that being the first released airliner it used some technology that was later replaced by other technology in the SDK. Mainly the interface options need to be redone and that is a ton of work.

I am sorry Norman, I simply do not understand. Would you be able to explain in some more detail?

At this moment, we have no Schiphol product to announce. I do agree it is strangely missing at this moment. Every airport dev knows it is one of the hardest airports to do, but still....

Very good advice, however (you knew it was coming, right?).... I think you overlook DLSS 3.
A friend asked me to build him a new machine for MSFS, and I took some time to experiment with that technology for the first time. And it is, as so many people already said, a total game changer for MSFS and X-Plane. Switch off DLSS 3, and we got 44 fps in one of my standard test locations; switch it on, and we got 83 fps. On a very solid 4k monitor, I was unable to see any difference unless I was extremely close to the screen. This was on a 4070 card.
I have an AMD card, so I know the AMD equivalent technology, FSR, but in my experience, it does not bring the same increase in framerates and lowers the virtual cockpit's sharpness and crispiness. Of course, drivers determine this to a great degree, but I have not seen a major improvement in the last months. So I think I will switch from my work machines back to Nvidia at this moment.

Indeed, indeed.
Besides, Project Managers basically do nothing useful. They just get told by upper management to get things done and by the developers that it can't be done. Can you blame me for doing something else after 20 years?
Friends, this is my last post on this forum section as the project manager. I leave you in good hands. When I leave Aerosoft end of the month I will make a new account and join as just another enthusiast for the A330!

I am 100% sure the devs have read this and will take the comment as consideration.

There might not have been signs of progress here, but the complete team has been working very serious hours, and there is simply not a lot that can be said. Telling you that we tweaked the turning circle from 42 meters to 39 meters is simply not very impressive for a forum. But it still has to be done and is one of the dozens of issues that have been solved in the last week. It is just the stage when all features are in, and they all need to be debugged and tweaked.
The A330 is just one of my projects, and project management is just one of my tasks at Aerosoft. Reading my departure as a sign of problems with the A330 is simply incorrect, and it is just unrelated. My decision was made long ago.

Sorry, can't give any timeline. But a lot has already been done.

Of course, that is possible, but that easily triples the amount of polygons and resource use. For a smallish object like this, not a problem, but that just leaves the next object that could use a few more polygons open to discussion.
A good modeler (and this project is done by one!) will decrease the level of detail the further you get from a normal viewpoint. The image you show is a view that is simply not where an aircraft crew would ever see it. When I look at it from a closeby stand, it is not something that stands out in my opinion. If I would be the modeler, I would not add more polygons to this object. If I had some to spare, I would always use them to make a very close more detailed object.

37 minutes ago, Eric Bakker said:I have seen a few rumours on the internet that you and Robert are leaving Aerosoft. Can you please comment on these rumours?
Those rumors are correct.
After more than 20 years, it felt like Aerosoft and I have grown apart and that it was time to leave. These things happen. I was a bit surprised that even though I am old as Methuselah, there were still companies and people interested in my expertise and experience. I will start a new career, and I am very much looking forward to that. We'll meet again.
I will hand over the project management for the A330 (and other) projects shortly and am confident that the new project manager will take over here to inform you. I am confident that the project will not be seriously affected.
Now, I like to close this discussion in this forum topic. This is about the project and not about me.

Hi!
Would it be possible to get info on latest list of airports that supports VDGS? Maybe even have a pinned/dedicated post/thread that updates accordingly, would make it easy for users/potential users to find.....
Have a nice day!
Will work on that.

I will do some images tomorrow, working on the manuals so I will have it open the whole day.

More info on the A330 going well ? Could we do some small previews to give us water at the move ?
I know we are a bit lacking in information, a lot of going on and I promise to get back on track with that.

Hi, I know this is not the right forum, but will you fix the installation routine (A330) for P3D V6? It seems that many plugins are working. I tried the record thrick with no luck.
Thanks in advance.
Miquel.
To be honest, I think that would not be a good idea because it would be interpreted as though we would support V6, which we simply can't do. At this moment all our internal development for Preper3D is halted, but we continue to monitor the demand.

Goodbye, So Long.....

...and thanks for all the fish!
This will be my last post as administrator of these forums, and I wanted to thank everybody for the many years of participation, comments, complaints, rants, and compliments. My first posts are 19 years old by now, and when I read them back I am happy to see that, basically, not a lot has changed. In fact, since I started moderating forums on CompuServe 29 years ago, my basic idea about moderation has never changed. Simply be as open and honest as commercially possible; never be politically correct, and never be afraid to say no. Always stand in front of your moderators; I get paid to take shit; they do not. Moderate as little as possible; forums have a self-healing capacity.
Since I stepped down from the forums, they have not been a happy place, and my fingers are itching to start to mend bridges and restore confidence. But that would be incorrect. I have made my comments in private to the persons who will have to take over my role here. A forum is a combination of ideas about how it should look from the administrator and the community. With me gone, the forum will change. And that is as it should be. My opinions on that are of no importance.
For me, our flight simulator hobby was always about the people, not so much the simulator. I simply like flightsimmers. That's why I organized so many events in the 1990s; it was just a way to get friends around. Flightsimmers have one thing in common; they want to learn and master new skills. I remember my first low-vis ILS landing. Dropping out of the clouds at 350 feet and seeing the runway (roughly) in front of you was a monumental event for me. I did a thing! Every simmer I know will always be willing to try something new. A more complex approach, a more complex aircraft, a manual circle to land. And this curiosity and willingness to learn makes flightsimmers people I tend to like. They are 'interesting.' After you discussed the latest PMDG release, you can easily discuss a book. Now I love my car enthusiast friends, but not many of them will understand the first line of this post.
That is why moderating forums was always a joy for me. I made very solid friends who I met on these forums. Others made me laugh; some made me think. Even dealing with the occasional troll was mostly fun. Occasionally being insulted comes with the job, and having fun made of my family name does not really upsets me. Heck, my father was called Ruud Kok, and his brother, called Dick Kok, emigrated to Canada!
Moderating these forums was a privilege. It was by far the best part of my job at Aerosoft. In my new job, I will most likely not interact with customers often. However, you will most likely see my name pop up, and if you visit events you will still see me with a new company name on the badge.
Godspeed to all of you.
