danbw 7
Hello everyone, So my PC past a stress test fine, I just got my system fired up and after a few hours, installed RealTemp to review the temperatures whilst running FSX on high (whether high or low makes much of a difference I dont know), and whilst running FSX, my temps were between 60-85 degrees celcius. I have not overlocked, however CPU-Z indicates that my CPU is running on constant 4.4GHz even with no programs running. I don't know if this is normal. Keep in mind this is using the Antec Kuhler H2O 650 liquid cooling system. At idle the CPU runs generally 50+ degrees. Thanks in advance and any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Dan
Aerosoft Aerosoft Team [Inactive Account] 51558 Posted August 1, 2014 Aerosoft Share Posted August 1, 2014 Nothing to worry about. People seem to think that lower temperatures are better, but and AMD chip designer told me they like their chips to run close to the max temperature because that is what they are designed for. Deputy Sheriffs Jeroen Doorman 1763 Posted August 1, 2014 Deputy Sheriffs Share Posted August 1, 2014 I'm not a big expert but from what I have been told by the company that build my system is that a CPU will only run to it's speed when it needs to and when at idle it's not running on it's max speed. But most likely at overclockers.net you could get a better answer
danbw 7
Thanks for your replies - they are much appreciated. So, Mathijs, people on the avsim forums who I've also spokent to keep saying the temps are too high and they are wrong to think that? I'm just a bit concerned with what to do next.. Aerosoft Aerosoft Team [Inactive Account] 51558 Posted August 3, 2014 Aerosoft Share Posted August 3, 2014 It's high, but within limits and is absolutely no problem. Many people try to keep their CPU as cool as possible, I never completely understood why if you are not overclocking.
