Release: Coast Guard

The US Coast Guard is a complex organization that is part of the US military and has duties range from homeland security to the maintenance of navigation aids. But of course Search and Rescue remains an important role and Aerosoft now bring you the best in ships and helicopters so you can expand your flight simulator to the exiting world of the US Coast Guard! Including both the newest type of cutter and the most versatile helicopter of the coast guard this is a very complete package. After you sailed the cutter to a location of your choice, you can use the shipyard tool to 'build' a static ship at that location. With three simple clicks of your mouse (and a restart of FS2004) a static version of the ship will be placed. You can now take off from that ship and perform your mission. After landing you change from helicopter back to the ship model and sail to your next mission. A truly complete package for a great price.

Well that is conjecture and opinion since there are sites that cater to just that with many ships to use. :D (will get even better with FSX)

If you get a chance Mathjis, check out the freeware ships by Deltasim Studios at AVSIM. Done in 3DSMax, with custom breaker wave animation, really great designs!

Cool placement tool. I've been doing some object libraries and was going to do some CG cutters, but this should keep everyone happy!

The project looks really good, best of luck on it!

Conjecture and Opinion? It's called FLIGHT simulator 2004...

What would be the point of building a 737 for Ship Simulator 2006?

But you're right! It's a growing "paradox"! Some of these boats are much better than average freeware planes, specially those at deltasim that are "payware" standards.

Also don't forget some of the ships by Mitsuya Hamaguchi. I've sailed the Queen Mary 2 from Greece through the Suez Canal, and Arabian Sea to Sri Lanka. The key was installing RXP's Garmin 430. With that I can set a course and know the ship will follow even when I'm asleep or away. Been thinking about a RTW in a ship.

Has anyone else tried Ship Simulator? I got the demo and decided against it. I don't want to sail the calm waters of canals or around a few islands. I wanted to sail the big ships on the open seas, so if that is what you are looking for, you will be disappointed. Well, if you expected a "world" to sail in like FS, anyway.

I saw an article recently on Flightsim.com about sailing in flight simulator, and the comment in the article was something to the effect that no one thinks of sailing in flightsim. I wanted to point the author quickly to :

A) My article on flightsim.com about sailing in FS and down through the Panama canal.

B) FS-Shipyards

C) the VUSCG.

D) VATSIM's rule against sailing on their network....
