Cockpit preparation procedure

Hi there,

Performing the cockpit preparation, I don't know what it means some checks:

1) GPWS...TEST (How?)

2) ILS... as Req (why during takeoff?)

3) XPNDR....STB (do it means "Transponder in stand by"?)

Can you explain to me how I can perform or what it means these checks?

Thank you

1. You can perform a GPWS test by pressing the button located above the ND brightness knob.

2. I don't think you should have ILS on during takeoff, but when you set your thrust for takeoff, you will see a green bar indicating the localizer (to keep yourself aligned with the runway during takeoff roll). However, it's always on if the runway actually has an ILS.

3. Yes, XPNDR STB means transponder standby.
