Aerosoft Aerosoft Team [Inactive Account] 51558 Posted July 14, 2011 Aerosoft Share Posted July 14, 2011 If you can see Flying Wild Alaska on your local Discovery Channel, don't miss it. Amazing footage of flying on the ragged edge.
Robert S 75
Hi Mathijs, I did better than that - I just returned from an Alaskan vacation and took a Beaver floatplane tour and flew the Misty Fjords - a little better than watching it on TV. Wow, it was incredible! When I get a moment, I will post some pictures in this thread of the flight. I also have HD video, but the files are huge. I sat in the co-pilot's seat and unfortuantely the cockpit glass was scratched, so my photos have a bit of blur in them

Robert S 75
Unfortunately, I do not have the licensed means to split up my very large video files, but I did resize my pictures. Here are some from the flight. They don't do the scenery justice I'm afraid...

Robert S 75
Thanks Shaun, My pilot was a guy named "Dale", - according to everyone who knows him he is a legendary bush pilot. He told me that 22 years ago, he went to Alaska to visit his sister and he "forgot to leave". There are so many of those mountain lakes only accessible from a floatplane, and you can rent a cabin on them from the National Forest Association for about $22.00 - $35.00 a night. These cabins are so remote, that before being dropped off you must sign a document stating you have a weapon and that you planned your provisions accordingly! My pilot, - Dale - rents one of those cabins every weekend. There is only 1 per lake so it must be a truly remakable and scerene experience. Make a man out of you for sure! Anyways Shaun you are correct - he has the best job in the world and he told me so! I will always remember how beautiful that flight was....
