gmoreira 29
So, flying on the clock here to get this finished on time... it's gonna be touch and go... But anyway. After a nice monday afternoon barbecue at my place, my JS4100 was ready to go, in front of my hangar: All set for the first leg to Nice, in the passenger list, 15 lucky winners of a competition that would take them along to Monaco for the launch party of the RTWC! Engines running and all set to go! Gotta love FSX, REX, PMDG, Andras Field and Aerosoft!!! Cleared for takeoff! Adventure starts here! Climbout like a rocket and the beautiful Andras Field being left behind.. REX some more... Alps ahead... after that the sunny Cote d'Azur... Final Approach just after sunset. Strat pouring the cocktails! We're almost there! Parked @ LFMN... Off to the RTWC launch party!

gmoreira 29
Here goes the "proof of completion" of the Prologue. Full stoey and pictures to come!
gmoreira 29
Leg 2 of 5 - LFMN (Nice) to LIPV (San Nicolo/Lido) This leg was going to be hard! 2 hrs flying with the slooowoowwowowowow but beatiful DC3. Decided to hone the PPL(A) acquired skills, with NDB and VOR homing along the route, using the complex and boring piece of museumware. DOES ANYONE KNOW ANY DECENT PAYWARE FREWARE AOR ANY OTHER WARE THAT'S A LITTLE BETTER THAN THE DEFAULT DC3??? So for the start... After the hard partying last night and with the personal distillery (aka. Liver) still trying to cope with the amounts of alcohol ingested, the DC3 was looking magnificent on the ramp @ LFMN this morning. Engines running and taxying out.... wish I could see better where I'm going... Line up... And lets GO! Climbout with nice crosswind... Pictoresque! Bye bye Nice, á bientôt Passing Monaco... Fuzzy memories coming back to the mind! The rest of the flight was pretty much like this... Venice and the Lido in sight. Descending full speed ahead! The beautiful scenery of Venice blessing our approach San Nicolo in sight. Final approach. Touchdown.. Remember keep your heels on the floor and toes off the brakes! The end Off to Venice to relax for a day! Tomorrow we have a lot of flying to do! Ferry the new Baron B58 to Sion, then an A319 to Innsbruck and the return to Andras on my Bonanza! Ian Pearse 12
Nice pictures! Re: the comment about wishing you could see where you were going on taxi, that's the fun of tail-draggers! I get that when flying the Lancaster. Learn to do the tail dragger zig-zag so you can keep an eye on what's happening. The payware DC-3 to go for is either the MAAM one (is it FSX as well?) or the recent Just Flight one. I need to get one of them at some point during this challenge... I find the default one a bit odd... detailed in some places, not so in others....
Matt_Smith 1116
MAAM is an FS9 model ported to FSX, where as JF's DC-3 is native FSX model
gmoreira 29
Thanks guys for the comments and help on the alternate DC3 versions. I really find that the default is way behind the quality addons we have today, that portrait what's real life aviation with much more detail. Ian, the zig zag is really difficult with this mamoth of a taildragger. I find it much easier @ my local flying club with its Cub!

gmoreira 29
While cruising along, might as well share a bit more of my prologue... Leg 3 took us from Venice to Sion, a beautiful flight over the Alps, and a terrific approach (for wich I didn't prepare myself enough... had never landed there!) Here just after departure. Goodbye to Venice and the Lido... The beautiful B58 produced by Carenado Weather ahead Well... I still need to negociate the Alps... Don't think 10.000' is gonna be enough! Sion in sight! On final And here we are! Another leg complete!
gmoreira 29
Leg 4 of 5 was out of Sion to Innsbruck. Another challenging flight, with a short runway for takeoff and a difficult approach. I was to ferry an A319 for TAP PORTUGAL, and my Bonanza should be awaiting me at the destination after an engine overhaul... CS-TTS waiting for me... barely fits the parking position.. Taxying is to be made with marshall assistance of course! Literally inching towards the runway! God! Thi is a shor runway, and I have a lot of weight onboard! BRAKES SET FULL POWER GO! That was too close for my taste! Climbing out Descending to LOWI Final approach Engine shutdown Postcard from Austria
gmoreira 29
The final leg took me in my Bonanza back home at Andras Field Takeoff Sorry, no photos of the arrival... Had to rush to finish in time!
