A320 U Activation Key

Recommended Posts

On October 28, 2023 I bought the FF A320 Ultimate XP12 Extended. The Order Confirmation contained a Serial Number with the following format :  xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx (20 characters). Due to certain problems when starting up XP-12 with the A320 U I was forced to delete this aircraft and reinstall it lagain, last month (March 2024). To my surprise the activation window after reinstalling this aircraft was asking for the key with the following format :  xx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx  (26 characters). Even so I contacted the help desk at "support@flightfactor.aero" and some advice was forthcoming I was unable to activate the reinstalled A320 U ever since.

Why would the format of the serial number ( key) have changed within a few months ? Is this a bug and if yes, how can this "format issue" be solved. Any advice would be greatly and thankfully appreciated.

If the key format changed you should get a new key with the update from the shop you bought it - did you buy the aircraft in the Aerosoft shop or anywhere else?

Hello Corgi,

the key format has not changed from FlightFactor. It is always the 20 Character format.

Please don't install the CEF Plugin (resources/plugins folder) with X-Plane 12.

This is important.

And be sure to install the latest version of the FF A320. This is at the time v1.7.3.

Best way is to download the newest version from your Shop account and install it from scratch.

If you have purchased with us, you can redownload the A320 Ultimate for XP12 here:

Registration | Aerosoft Shop

Goto "Instant Downloads"...

Hello Heinz,

Really appreciate your fast response to my problem of activating the FF A320 U after Re-Installation. I have deleted the CEF Plugin from the plugins folder and de-installed the FF A320 U aircraft and thereupon re-installed it from the x-plane store, where I bought it from. To no avail. Same story : after start-up of the XP12 simulator and after choosing the FF A3320 U from the aircrafts directory, at the end of the loading process the activation window appears. Upon clicking the "Enter serial number" window the format : xx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx (26 characters) appears and activation stalls since my original key (serial number) consists of only 20 characters. I am at my wits end and probably have to re-purchase this aircraft, but this time from Aerosoft.

Thanks again

I have contacted the support @ "support@flightfactor.aero" and asked them if they couldn`t just send me a new activation code that fits the new activation format (26 characters). Their answer was we don`t have such codes for the a3320u because this is a bug ! Originally I bought the FFA320u aircraft from XPlane. Org.

Don't repurchase the aircraft, you will end up most likely getting the same issue because the files you get from Aerosoft should be the same as those from X-Plane.org.

FlightFactor told you this is a bug... but that's all? Don't they offer any solution or ideas about how to fix that bug? And, do you have the latest version Heinz mentioned (v1.7.3)? If you are using an older version maybe redownloading the new version from the X-Plane.org store could help - if you don't get the latest version from the store, try updating the product using the updater (not sure how that works, never had a FlightFactor aircraft myself, but here they have their own updater which might be included with your aircraft already).

If you already got the latest version and it's not activating, you can try installing a second copy of XP using the X-Plane installer. This second version should be bare bones with no scenery but activated properly and then you install your A320 into this new XP version from your original download (don't just copy the aircraft from your first XP installation) and see if you can activate it in this new and completely default XP environment (which should not cause any bugs). If that works, copy the activated aircraft into your main XP installation and it should be activated there as well.

Dear FlyAgi

Your idea to install a second copy of XP12 and installing the FF A320u into a completely default XP environment seemed to me the pivotal point in solving the activation problem due to a mismatch of the activation code format. So I proceeded as you suggested, but to no avail. Again, after starting up XP12 and at the end of the loading process of the FF A320u, which I downloaded from the Org.Store, the activation window pops up and is asking to insert the serial number. When I click the corresponding bar the format shows again that 26 characters are required (xx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx) instead of the original serial number with 20 characters, that came with the order confirmation (20 characters : xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx).

So back to the drawing board or else give up for good !

Hi Corgi100

Having same problem.

I also reached to Xplane.org and FF support but they are pointing at each other - getting bounced back and forth between them. Have removed and reinstalled updater to latest version - twice and reinstalled A320 fresh. Still don't seem to be able to resolve the problem. I'll keep trying different options and update here if I find anything.

What does that mean?

FlightFactor makes the product and generates the keys, then delivers both to the stores - if there is any issue with the key format then it's clearly a flight factor issue, if not caused by another addon interfering somehow. What can a store do if they get a product requesting a 26 characters key if FlightFactor gives a 20 characters key for that product?

Further, if this is a bug, as stated by FlightFactor according to Corgi100, then it's a bug in the product's activation system and again, Flight Factor has to get around this - pointing onto the stores makes no sense, as stores can only hand over the product and keys they get from the developers.

Anyway, do you all have the version 1.7.3 installed? Does updating to that version fix the issue or not?

Update on this: I found this issue over on the german forums and it was caused by a security program altering the product files on installation (in this case it was BitDefender causing this).

To get this solved, please try the following:

  1. Disable your Antivirus software temporarily
  2. Create an exception in your security software real time scan for the whole XP folder so it does not remove any files later on
  3. Reinstall the FlightFactor A320U
  4. Start XP and see if you can paste the serial key into the activation field and try to activate
  5. If all that works now, enable your security software again (and hope it won't destroy anything)

In general I don't recommend using anything else than windows defender for security, it's good enough and you don't need additional stuff for anything but psychological reasons - if you really do bad things (you know, warez and porn and stuff like that) with your computer no security suite will help you out on this, sooner or later you will get in trouble so simply don't do that stuff and if you absolutely need/want/must do that for any reason then set up a virtual machine for these potentially harmful activities (that VM you can simply restore after using and your host computer is safe anyway).

If using Windows Defender you should also create an exception for real time scan for the XP folder so it does not alter your files but also for performance reasons (and this is true for every security software, I just want to point out that Defender benefits from that exception too).

Hey guys.

I wonder if the situation is solved and the steps mentioned above work for you? Please report back.
