Configuring the Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo for the PMDG B737 under P3D

This tutorial will explain step by step how to setup the Alpha Yoke and the Bravo Throttle
with the PMDG B737 under P3D v4.

Please login to display this image.

The goal is  :
- To demonstrate the basic use of the configurator

- How to download and import ready-made profiles from the Aerosoft database

- How loading profiles of BOTH the yoke and throttle works
- Peculiarities of the PMDG interfacing
- How to make sure the correct profile(s) load(s) in the simulator.

NOTE :
Altough this tutorial uses the PMDG 737 and P3D v4, this procedure is 99% common to all aircraft and simulators.
This can be used as a base for other setups.

NOTE :
The axes are NOT configured in the Configurator.
They must be assigned from within the simulator controls axes setup display.
The Configurator only manages the buttons !

- Make sure the PMDG B737 NGXu is installed in P3D.
- Make sure P3D is NOT running.

STEP1 :
- Start the Configurator as administrator
1 – Click Actions
2 – Click “Download Profiles”

Please login to display this image.

STEP 4 :

à This will simply download the file onto your harddisk.
     Typically in the “Downloads” folder.
Make sure you know EXACTLY where your browser is saving the
      downloaded files.
This NOT a Honeycomb or Aerosoft feature.
It entirely and only depends on YOUR setup.

Please login to display this image.

STEP 5 :
Repeat from STEP 2 for the throttle.

STEP 6 :
The two .json files are now  saved on your computer.

Please login to display this image.

STEP 7 :
Go back to the configurator.
Choose “Actions” -> “Open Settings”

Please login to display this image.

STEP 17 :
Not mendatory but HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !

- Click “Actions”
- Click “ Disable Simulator Defaults”

à This will delete the buttons automatic assignements in the simulator
so that only the Configurator settings are active.
     This prevent multiple/wrong assignments.

Hello.

When I try to assign switches from the bravo to events on my PMDG737 under P3Dv4 the "press event" never saves.  Everything else saves, the actual event, the variable and the "L" as a custom entry all save.

But when the profile is loaded into the sim the switch won't work.  I don't know whether this is because the press event never saves.

Can anyone offer advice on how to remedy this situation?

Hi,

Can you send us some screenshots of what you are trying to do and what variable / event you are entering ?

Best regards.

In this case the event I am trying to trigger is anti-ice for engine 1.  I know that I have correctly entered the event name because other formats were "not fund" by the configurator whereas what I have entered here is recognized when I show bindings.  NGX_EVT_OH_ICE_ENGINE_ANTIICE_1

Whether I type something into the "press event" field or I leave it blank, it always returns to the default "Press-Event" descriptor but won't save anything I enter.  I do not know whether having a name in this field is mandatory but regardless the event does not trigger.

Hi All,

For some reason, I can never get any Bravo profiles over to P3D V4. I followed the directions precisely, however, when I reload the bindings in the Sim through Addons/ honeycomb/ BFC_Throttle - Reload Bindings, I get the message;

AFC Bridge Reloadjson: BFC_Throttle reloaded 44 binding(s) successfully from profile 'Default_Throttle'.

No matter what profile I try to load for the Honeycomb Bravo, I get the same message. The Bravo works using this default setting and I set throttle assignments through the Sim but not the configurator.

Any help will be appreciated,

Cheers

Hi,

Did you save and activate your profile in the Configurator ?

Does your profile name appears in the status bar of the Configurator ?

Best regards.

Hi,

I activated the profile but I can't see where you save the profile in the configurator.

The profile name appears in the status bar at the bottom of the configurator (Profile: PMDG_NGX(u)_Throttle).

Cheers

Hi,

Yes, I activated PMDG in the configurator. I have saved different profiles in the configurator, however, the only one that appears in P3D V4  is the default throttle.

I followed the instructions in this thread exactly as shown, with no luck. It's frustrating the profiles don't copy over. I let the installer do its thing when initially installing the configurator, I have a dedicated drive (not 'C') for Prepared, could this cause an issue with the profiles? One more thing, when using the configurator, I assume the sim should not be running and that the configurator should be closed before running the sim?

Hi Pov,

Do you ever see the profile you want to load in the status bar of the Configurator ?

The sim can be running while you set up the Configurator, and the configurator may stay open at all time.
I even suggest to have them always running. It speeds up things when you need to make some changes.

Best regards.

Hi,

Yes, the profile I want appears in the configurator as per your screenshot, that's the curious thing. The profile appears as active, however, when I reload the bindings in prepared, the message reads bindings reloaded from default_throttle and not the active profile in the configurator

Hi Pov,

Two very basic and silly questions (again)

1 - Are you sure you are sing the appropriate Configurator version ?
(P3D v4 version and NOT P3Dv3, for instance)

2 - Did you activate the profile after you loaded it ?

Hi everyone,

I hope I am not being a bother, but in this thread I asked whether there might be something wrong with how I am making entries in an effort to set custom keys in the configurator.  The only thing I notice in the screenshot that I sent is that no matter what name I type for the action (just the name of the press event not the variables) the name always disappears.

I would like to program the buttons on my yoke/throttle but I cannot get the programming to work.

Thanks.

Can someone tell me how this works in FSX?

I found a Bravo profile here on Aerosoft for FSX.

I have imported it into the configurator and I see variables attached to buttons.

But when I press activate profile, nothing really happens in FSX.

The 7 switches dont work.

The turn buttons for the autopilot dont work.

The LED's dont work

Maybe the profile is for one specific airplane only?

The HoneyComb folder is in the FSX files and I can see the JSON file profile in there.

Do I need to copy/paste those files into a specific airplane file? (like the Configurator local load function?)

Getting a little desperate now as I can't find a solution or a full tutorial for FSX configuration.

If anyone can help me that would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!
