Recommendation on HowTo Install the Airbus Pro

In the past we have seen people installing the Airbus Pro to not suitable folders, which could lead to problems. Therefore we recommend the following way to install the Airbus Pro.

Since quite a while Lockheed Martin introduced the so called "add-on.xml" method to install addons (aircrafts and sceneries). This method allows the installation of addons outside the P3D mainfolder into any folder of your choice without the need to point P3D manually to such a folder. If the addon installer does his job, P3D automatically detects such an addon.

The big advantage is that you do not need to reinstall such addons in case you upgrade P3D. It might also help you in situations where your P3D disk runs out of space, so that you can install your addons to another drive (We do not recommend to install on a external disk!).

(!) ATTENTION

This installation methode of course works only when being supported by the addon. So does Aerosoft with its most recent addons like the Pro Series and also some other developers. You can check this by running the installer: when it does NOT ask for the P3D folder but asks where to install the addon, the installer supports this new method. In case you are unsure ask the developer.

No this is what you should do:

- Do NOT install inside the P3D mainfolder

- Create a folder outside of P3D and call it something like ..\Addons

- turn off your Anitivirus software and for the future exclude all sim related folders from being scanned

- Run the installer as Administrator (right click on the setup file and choose "Run as Admnistrator")

- when being asked where to install point to the folder you created as above, like in the following screenshot:

Regarding Aerosoft addons: the specified path will be remembered and displayed automatically the next time you install another Aerosoft product.

- After the installation you should see within this folder another folder of your just installed addon (beneath other addons), like in the screenshot from my PC:

Please login to display this image.

After the installation it is mandatory that you reboot your PC!

That's all you need to do for the moment.

(!) Important Note

There are still some generic files/folders installed into the folder c:/users/YOURNAME/Documents.

In case your Documents folder is linked to OneDrive, this can cause serious problems. This happens quite often on new PC, when you log into Windows with a Microsoft OneDrive account or any other Microsoft account. To solve this problem you have to unlink your Documents folder from OneDrive. How to do so yo can read for example here:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-files/unlink-my-documents-folder-from-onedrive/21edbce4-a38e-489b-8aab-608f0f4ee506

Uninstall:

If you had a previous version installed or want to make a fresh install:

- backup your installed liveries (you can use the Livery Manager, in case the repaints you hav are supported)

- uninstall the product by using the uninstaller, do not manually delete files!

- reboot your PC

You can keep the files under c:/users/YOURNAME/Documents/Aerosoft, as these are generic files not aircraft specific.
