I am also a VATSIM pilot but I can understand the desire to just do a fly in with the aviation club GA aircraft without bothering with realistic ATC procedures.
Think of it as a social meeting, not focused on ATC and procedures.
VATSIM is not very forgiving for the uninitiated and not everybody wants to spend time learning correct procedures.
For anybody that equals fun with procedures there are a lot of alternative VA's available, I nerver thought the Andras Field community would fulfill that role.
My problem is just that squawkwin does not work all that well for me.
I understand what you mean. And thats ok.
But what i mean is, that there was wrote about the complicated VATSIM. And thats not ok. VATSIM isn't complicated.
And all the Controller help you if you are a newbie.
I am a member of the FriesenFlieger VA. They fly on VATSIM. So i know what i say.
But here somebody wrote about VATSIM and is never fly online before flying with VAE in Andras Field.
Thats not OK. I think.

Flying is not "SIMPLE". But not complicated. Not by VATSIM, not by IVAO and not by VAE i think.
"Make things simple". What does that mean? No Rules? No ATC? A little rules? A little atc?
But with rules and with atc it's the same as by VATSIM or others.
SIMPLE makes for long no fun, i think.
Please tell me, what you mean with "simple".
I am a member of VATSIM. Using FsInn. Its NOT complicated.
My experience is that the more clients, the more the PC is unstable. And the Online Flying will be complicated.
Apart from the many open ports.

I know you can, it's just that I haven't found a nice way of doing it, and admittedly been a long time since I tried.
Since I don't have a lot of time on my hands to figure things out and try-try-try, I usually just end up flying adventures or freeflights, or sometimes quick-&-easy online via the gamespy interface in FSX itself.
And yes, I know that sucks, but I can usually find a decent server to fly around on with some people.

ok, i understand you. But i don't have any problem to fly VFR in VATSIM. It's easy.
I think: each has just a slightly different opinion and different experiences regarding the VFR Online Flight in VATSIM...

I hope so too, as I share your sentiments about VATSIM/IVAO. I am VATSIM member myself, but hardly ever use it because I'm mostly a VFR guy.
I have gone and registered on VAE and hope to see/speak you all at Andras (which I will purchase tonight

But you can fly in VATSIM "VFR" very well. I am a member of VATSIM and a member of the "FriesenFlieger (www.friesenflieger.eu). The FriesenFlieger VA is a big "VFR" Community. An we fly very often in VATSIM. The controller in VATSIM are very helpful and very friendly to the VFR Pilots...
And in reality, there are now once IFR and VFR, big Planes and small planes...

As mentioned earlier, I don't think anyone on the board or anywhere has an objection to flying in VATSIM or IVAO. I fly in VATSIM myself. What we do want to do though is make sure that we also have an FSX server as a priority for those who just want to fly with their friends without joining an organisation etc. We are trying very hard to cater for everyone.

i understand you. If really no one of the Andras Aviation Club will flying with VATSIM or IVAO, then it must be accepted. And then it is ok.
But perhaps we should find out once with a survey. Otherwise this discussion don't end...

And what about the others, who would rather keep to the air traffic rules? Especially at airports around the aerea of Andras Field.
I am a newbie too. And i am flying in VATSIM and sometimes in IVAO.
And i can say that every tower controller will help you, if you want it.
The flightsimulation is more fun with the most real air traffic rules. Believe it.
And these are easy to learn, for a newbie too.

I am still in favour of a dedicated server we can use via the standard FSX multiplayer option. Aerosoft are currently looking into creating a 24x7 server for us. To me this is the simplest option that allows anyone with Andras Field to fly online regardless of experience and skills, with no requirement to join any organisation or complicate matters.
That said, I have no objection if VATSIM or IVAO were to approve the field for operations for pilots to conduct flights on those networks too. I think, though, as the bottom line we need a simple server that everyone can use even if you are new to FSX. VATSIM etc is overwhelming for many newbies and others simply do not want this complexity. I see no reason all these options cannot co-exist but I think a simple dedicated server is a must-have.

What is complex by VATSIM or IVAO?. The only thing is, that you must keep as pilot for example to the air traffic regulations, the atc and the airspaces. And i hope that we want it too. We run a flight SIMULATION.

IVAO is free too, there's a reason IVAO exists , not everyone likes or prefers VATSIM.

Because as James A correctly pointed out, the airport would be unable to receive services from both VATSIM and IVAO at the same time.
We need something that all members can use at the same time be they members of VATSIM/IVAO etc or not a member of any online ATC service.
I propose EAFS be treated as an un-controlled field on both VATSIM and IVAO. This way you get En-route and approach control services from either network, but to land at EAFS you have to terminate radar services and switch to unicom.
Unicom can be a server that is for the exclusive use of Andras field, with local Controller (Tower) or no Tower services and pilots follow the
basic procedures used to arrive and depart at an un-controlled field.
This seems workable with FSINN pilot client as its easy to switch to another FSD type server from either VATSIM or IVAO.
This would also allow members who are not part of either VATSIM or IVAO to arrive and depart from Andras field whenever they wish
via a multiplayer session only and communicating via Tower on Unicom with a voice client like Teamspeak.
This also prevents any conflict between rules and regulations or VATSIM/IVAO and the rules/regs the Andras Field board implements.
But the key is to set up something all Andras Field members can use.

Why not, if all members of Andras Field (if they are not already) a member of VATSIM (for example) would be? The membership is free. Anybody can join VATSIM. And with FSInn for example we all can fly online on Andras Field with all the advantage of the VATSIM Server. I see no problem.

Mathijs just a question instead of jumping through hoops in vatsim etc i own a va which is affiliated to Virtual Aviation Experience even people in push back tugs are welcome and there server is still in the making but very very close to opening why not ask them if they will be a server sponsor and all you have to do then is join vae which is free and off you go 24 7 server which can cope with large amounts of people flying on it i can have a word if you like just a thought but if you want pm me about it feel free

I don't understand that. Why should we separate Andras Field from the big online world (VATSIM, IVAO)? The membership on this servers are free.
On this two servers there are many controller online (tower, ground, approach, radar, fis...) and many many pilots and virtual airlines over the hole world.
I think , to separate Andras Field from this world, degrades this beautiful project to a "playground" without realism.
Ok, we have to look at the air traffic rules, the ATC-phraseology, the airspaces and so on.
But that makes the flight-SIMULATION "real". And that's what we want. Or not?

Please do NOT use VATSIM. The built-in server access with FSX would do just fine. VATSIM has too many requirements.
The whole idea of online flying is to enjoy ourselves, WITHOUT the added stress of rules/regulations that accompany VATSIM.

but i think, flightsimulation is boring without the real Air Traffic Regulations (These are independent of VATSIM or IVAO...). Anyone can do then what he want. Where will it all end?. I also believe that it will be boring if we always take ourselves to Andras Field. The real Flight World is so much more...

All I'm saying is it will take a change in policy from either of those networks before a Fictitious airport is allowed to be used. Also unless we have controller rated members here who would be happy controlling we'll all be left using Unicom and self announcing which would leave us no better off than having an AF server to ourselves. The majority of users on VATSIM and IVAO fly IFR in the big iron and will just pass un-noticed over our heads. If VATSIM do change their policy I'd be happy to fly at Andras on the network but until then lets just have somewhere to meet up and fly together.

I am flying al long time with VATSIM in a little VFR-flying club (friesenflieger.eu). That works very best. The controller in VATSIM are happy about every VFR Pilot.
But you are right when you say, VATSIM must accept a fictive Airport.
I hope, that Mathijs Kok (Aerosoft) can regulate this with VATSIM.
And i hope that we comply with an own server to the rules of the air traffic. Otherwise it makes no fun to flying online.

Why not use the big VATSIM or IVAO Community for flying online?
With VATSIM for example we have "real" ATC at the Airports around Andras Field.
With VATSIM i can fly for example from EDDW (Bremen) to Andras Field with ATC.
If we use an own server, than the world around Andras Field is without traffic...
I think its better, to integrate Andras Field in the VATSIM (or IVAO) airspace.

This is very much work in progress as we like to see this all done by the USERS of Andras Field but there are a few things that we feel can not be avoided. Feel free to jump in with ideas and suggestions!
- All pets that could pose a danger to aircraft that taxi are prohibited (for example dogs).
- All helicopter operations over the airpark (landings etc) are forbidden without prior permission.
- All jet/turbine operations on the airpark (landings etc) are forbidden without prior permission. Jet/turbine taxi is prohibited under any condition.
- It is prohibited to taxi after sunset and before sunup - 30 min. Please use one of the small tractors (or even electric carts) available on the field.
- Aircraft have priority over vehicles. No exceptions!
- Maximum speed for aircraft is 10 mph, for cars 15 mph. Regular checks are done for your own safety.
I think rule 4 should be re-thinked.
The most of the online-flightsimmer can do their vfr-flight after the work (and after sunset).
So they fly with "daylight" also after sunset.
With rule 4 they never can fly to Andras Field.

Alternatively, we don't need IVAO OR VATSIM, but rather just a server that people can log into.
But than we have no other controller on the other airfield around andras field.
The advantage of VATSIM (for example) is, that we have right now "real" traffic and tower controllers around Andras Field.

Could you identify what exactly causes your problems? Slew around and see if you can spot a view or even an object that causes the bit that make sit slow. Make sure you run this scenery at Unlimited FPS setting and not limiting it. FSX has a huge bug there and setting a limited fps will cause you to loose about 20% of fps (only when you see highly fluctuating fps over 50 does it starts to make sense)
I am getting a very easy 35 fps so I would think it is some special thing your system does not like.

on my system (Win7, Intel Q6600, Radeon HD4870) i have disabled the two human...bgl files in the scenery folder and than i have aprox. 10 fps more.

i think online flying with Andras Flield ist a very good thing. I am flying a long time in the VATSIM Airspace and there are many little Airfields with an Info Tower Controller online. That works very good for VFR Pilots.
When Andras Field has an info-tower-frequency than the pilots must speak and listen on that frequency, and so the taxiing, landing, starting can regulated by the pilots themselfs. And when the info tower is manned, then the tower regulates the traffic. That works also in the reality...
And when we do that in VATSIM (or IVAO), then we have many manned other towers (airfields) to fly to...
