  1. Very nice! I like that video because it keeps me on humor and sprung for the release of the Airbus and it shows the beauty of the Aerosoft Airbus.
  2. Interesting and absolutely supporting Aerosoft's decisions: The competitor who makes those detailed to the freight compartment temperature system depth add-ons (I try to stick to Aerosoft forum rules and not mentions competitors) just announced on their forum (I don't have access there 'cause I never registered but a fellow flight simmer cited) that their B737 NGX which is due in summer will be a pure FSX version without any backwards fS9 compatibility. Those hard core FS9 fans are driven absolutely mad (I can't understand why they can't admit that the FlightSim world has moved on and FSX offers a hugh gap forward in possibilities for aircraft add-ons.). Either way... I think the P...'s decision (being the add-on developer that stuck very long with FS9) proves without the slightest doubt that Aerosoft's previously decision to make the A-320 a pure FSX add-on was a very wise, sound and anticipatory one. I can't even image what a blowback it would have been had Aerosoft developed the Airbus FS9 compatible and P... had come up with a pure FSX version with a lot more to offer. Bravo! You have done it right!

Hahaha, that was a good one, Stewart! To the situation here in Austria: Austro-Control (Austrian ATC) just announced to prolongate the closure of airspace until tomorrow 2 PM LOC but are prepared to extend until Monday. The ZAMG (Zentralanstalt fuer Meteorologie und Geodynamik) announced some ten minutes ago that there will be some slight rain tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon which should wash out the volcanic ashes. Slight rainfall is prognosed to continue trough Tuesday und that should (theoretically) reopen the airspace in southern Germany, Switzerland and Austria. But they predict that air masses will start moving north, hence re-shifting some of the ashed towards UK and the situation could worsen there. And from Thursday on there will be a northwesterly drift again and will bring new ashes to western and central Europe. So there's a high probability that the airspace will be closed again over a greater part of Europe at the end of next week. (Should it open in the meantime altogether) But of course there's not a lot of certainty. Nobody knows how much rain we will get and nobody knows how the volcanic activity will carry on. VFR General Aviation traffic is not affected here! (Up to FL200) But interestingly the private pilots didn't dare to fly much today and yesterday and there was very sparse GA VFR traffic as well. Good old railroad seems to be afforded a new hayday! A footnote: Our online newspapers just reported that "Mr. Silly Walks", John Cleese, substituted his cancelled flight off Oslo by a taxi cab and took the cab for a 25 hours ride to Bruxelles ... ;-)
  4. I liked it on first sight. Impressive and obviously high quality. Would make an excellent throttle quadrant for the Aerosoft Airbus. But the price is certainly a bit on the expensive side... a little bit... ;-) 2.000... gosh... that nearly doubles the price of my i7-920/GTX275 PC system. Out of reach!
  5. 100 % support for the CH Sticks as well from my side! I can't image why they're not as famous these days. I got the CH Combat Stick Pro USB and the CH Pro Throttle USB some 3 years ago. Of course the set fits the my Aerosoft F-16 and my Lotussim L-39 best. But as more and more single-engine civil aircrafts use sticks (Diamond Katana, Diamond DA-40, Robin DR400...) it's realistic for GA aircraft as well. Of course the Pro Throttle does not offer 2 different throttle levers for a multiengine jet. But I just can say the very best about the quality of CH. Sturdy as hell, built like a tractor, not a single failure in those 3 years. And very precise. For the pedals I would prefer the dhs-electronic/Hofmann SimPed USB Pedals. Full metal, highest quality. They just have one problem: A driver incompatibility with Win 7. (They work perfect in Win XP)
  6. Thank you!!! Nice! Is it just my impression or did the chocks actually get smaller? Mathijs asked about their size at the end of the previous Airbus thread and some (like myself) argued they seem a little bit too big. But it could just be the perspective of those screenshots. However I like their size as the chocks appear now. BTW: I think the dirt under the windows has a very (!) realistic look!
  7. I didn't mention airspeed in my method, just "speed". Of course to apply groundspeed makes the calculation more precise. I just didn't want to be too detailed. It's like to difference between flight-level and feet AGL which I mentioned. If the altitude you're aiming for is expressed in feet AGL and the altitude you're leaving is expressed in FL you have to convert that FL to feet AGL in the first place to be precise. But the difference in the resulting fpm descent rate isn't too much in reality. (I agree that the resulting difference between correctly applying groundspeed and airspeed can be substantially more with a lot of wind. And, of course, the lower the speed, the bigger the difference.) And remember: You don't have to be exact to the last foot per second. First of all every change in the wind during the descent will affect the descent path much more. And if you dial the descent rate in manually you don't have 1 fps increments. The increments in fps descent rate to be chosen of are higher, each 20 or 50 fps for instance. So there's not much use for the difference in the result between 1833 and 1837 fps descent rate.
  8. You're very welcome! I would even recommend you a small brochure that contains all those rules of thumb and approximation formulas which pilots use in real flight. The ony problem is that the brochure is in German language. But I'm sure there are a lot of comparable English ones out there. And you're absolutely welcome to ask here whenever you need a fomula like this one.
  9. Very simple. A itsy bitsy little bit of good old math! ;-) You have to make a descend of 18000 feet (Let's skip the QNH-FL difference). Let's say your speed is 250 kts. So you will have an estimated flight time to the fix of 9.6 minutes (40/250x60). Divide the 18000 feet to loose by 9.6 minutes and you have the result: 1875 feet/min descent rate. That's how we do it in reality very often...
  10. I'm not Aerosoft, but be assured, Birdman: There will be full opportunity to get the boxed version elsewhere. There can't be any doubt about it...
  11. Not only that VORJAB asked for looking at those night VC screenshots in a dark environment, for my taste the balance between the exterior lights of the night scenery in screenshot no. 3 and the VC lighting is very good. A panel light that's not too bright and thus preserves night vision. (As far as you could claim night-vision in FlightSim altogether.) The cockpit panel light of the SimCheck A300 in comparison is far too bright for my taste.
  12. Wow!! Amazing, incredible! Just to put a light on how good your job is: Wednesday is showed the VC screenshots to a friend of mine who isn't into FlightSim at all! He just knows real Aircraft and photographies of them. He just stumbled: "Unbelievable. That's like photography!" Consider it done for my part! But how can I transfer that pint over the internet? ;-))) I will be off to bed in some minutes as well. And you have the honour to give me very good thoughts for my sleep with those screenshots ;-)
  13. I do have to admit that I'm not technical expert for software protection measures. But I was in fact thinking of some kind of tag to all files. There must be some way to do it. (I'm a technical positivist ;-) ) I did the same thing in principle - but completely off software - with a small manual that was printed on small scale and designed and written by me. I charged only my onw costs for it - some 5 Euro. I knew that I would be f....d the very first moment the first user photocopies it gives multiply copies away for free because all the costs would remain on my shoulders. My solution: I chose variable sides and filled in in an hardly detectable place within a graphic a serial number. And I registered everyone who bought the manual by name, adress and associated serial number. It worked perfectly. No copyright violation whatsover! It helps a lot if it's possible to track you down...
  14. Full approval and back-up from me, Kwiss! With regard to Hitchhiker who stated that this version was rather unfinished perhaps Mathijs and Aerosoft can prevent the full realeses' torrent upload by watermarking it! I don't like online-authentification because I never fly online and because I often change the hardware. But no objection at all against watermarking! In fact I would love it! That makes the very person trackable who uploads foreign property to torrents!
