  1. Welp, I found out Windows Firewall needs to be disabled for people to get in with FSHost. So I'm going to load up my internet securities antivirus program to have a firewall that way. So for now, my FSHost servers are down. But I'll let everyone know when it's back up.

Thanks for your patience in this matter.

  2. I'll try to look up the problem in the FAQ or Help section at their site tomarrow morning when I get a chance, but in the mean time, I'm going to turn the other two off in case that's the problem. Thanks for the update Peter! I'll get it figured out one way or another.

  3. Okay, I'm going to see if I can have the server running for the next 48-72 hours from about 7:30am Central Time this morning, so that maybe someone can try again if they could please. I went ahead and changed the server's port address to the default 23456 that both FS2004 and FSX use to comunicate back and forth between individuals. And also, can someone try to connect to Teamspeak as well? You may have to do a search in the connection menu of TeamSpeak for '3n1 Racing', but I think you should still get there by entering the 12.208.254.248:8767 address.

Me neither at Fri, 9 PM Z. Maybe too early? I could find the machine, though. I could log on to other sessions positively.

    regards,

    Peter

PS: Frequently I look at the free 24/7 FSD (FSINN) server of www.mcdu.com. It has teamspeak, too.

Peter, did you mean that you could see the sessions for my computer, or did you mean you found the program FSHostSpy? There could be up to 3 sessions showing up for that address if I have them all running at the time.

  4. Hope you both get well soon -my 3 year old son is doing a 2 week cold twice a month thing at the moment! No glider servers on FSHost but it is very easy to use for most people. Some hosts like Netwings.org are very low lag too. Cheers

Thanks Jim451 for wishing my son and I well! Sorry so late in giving thanks.

  5. Thanks guys, I think I'll change the servers address to 23456, then maybe you will be able to see it. Anyway, I hope it works. I'll try to get on it again and see, but I'll still need someone to try to get in from the outside. Also, I noticed that you cannot get to the session from FSHostSpy, but if you double click it, it saves the address so you can enter it into FSHostClient. I'll find out later if this works also with connecting with FSHost.

    Thanks for the help,

  6. Hello everyone, I set up a somewhat temporary server on FSHost. You can find it and connect I think with the program FSHostSpy. It is titled, "SOAR! - FS2004/FSX - Temporary". If anyone has trouble getting on, please let me know. I know I can get on with the other computer, but it's on a router and can be deceiving at times. I haven't got TeamSpeak2 setup yet without a password, so you will definately not be able to use it yet.

Also with FSHost, there may be a problem with the 23458 address thingy (sorry for the lack of terminology, if I even spelled that right) and others being able to connect if someone doesn't have 23456 to 23458 set up right on there firewall. I remember seeing some problems with multiple copies/servers on one computer, but I cannot seem to find it at the present time.

If you can get in, please let me know also. It will be nice to know if it works outside of my router.

  7. FSHost works on all platforms too.

Jim451, I haven't been on FSHost for a few months, but I'm wondering if you know of any glider servers on it. Maybe I'll check FSHostSpy later. Right now I'm taking care of my son who is sick and me too. So I've only gotten to fly for a total of 10-15 minutes in the last 8 days.

  8. Thanks Dirk! I've been wanting to get an email together to thank him for all his work for the MSFS community. With FSX and a little with FS2004, I just started flying the Duo Discus X, and never looked back to fly any others. I even did up my own custom paintjob for it. Whenever I get into another cockpit, it just doesn't seem right, cause I've gotten used to the Duo Discus X cockpit.

  9. Sounds like I missed another one. But at least I know you're using FSX Multiplayer. I think when you enter a session there, you can start out near the hosts aircraft among other situations. Especially since I cannot spend 7-8 hours in one flight without having to hit the pause button. Plus I can come in and out when I want to although my time wont count for anything, it would still be fun.

  10. Hi,

i'll try it out in the evening, if both - my job and my wife - let me have some time for flying.

    Best Regards,

    Dirk.

I understand, and take your time. We made it home okay last night, but my son came down with a severe cold, so I may have an off chance that I could see for myself today.

    Thanks Dirk

  11. I just noticed this morning that Wolfgang Piper has had recent updates to some of his aircraft, and one new aircraft. If anyone has Acceleration/SP2, can you tell me if the VC Canopy transparency in the Duo Discus X has been fixed? I'm away for the holiday, and I was just wondering. Cannot wait to get home to see.

  12. First af all, WELCOME to SOAR!

My first reaction to if those specs would run FS2004 was, YOU BET! I'm no computer guy but those specs make me want to think FS2004 would really soar quite well, if not extremely well. And as far as freeware and payware addons, there's still a huge interest and upload rate at AVSIM for FS2004 stuff that makes me believe it will be around a while. If you have both sims, I believe I would install both if space was not a factor. Then again, I'm really satisfied with FSX on a system that is at least 2 1/2 years old. Some of my specs are...

2.19 GHz Athlon 3500+ (single core), 2GB RAM, 512MB ATI Radeon X1300 graphics card, on a WindowsXP SP2 system.

  13. I wish I could join you also, but I'm out of town again for Thanksgiving. Also, APS wont let me register. I tried to register under a different email and it still wouldn't let me. I may have to just brake down and email the person in charge and see why I cannot register there. I believe I may have been registered there a while ago, but I cannot remember exactly.

  14. I was wondering about the correct title of the program, because at one point in time, it was starting to bug me since the folder inside the ...\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules folder had that title. Thanks for clearing that up Peter.

And, a HAPPY One Month Anniversary to you and CumulusX! from the first public alpha release!!

    sf4JC

  15. Well, the good news is it works good as always. The bad news, is for myself, I have to start reading the readme again. I haven't read it since version 04, so needless to say, I couldn't get CumulusX to work for me at first this time around. So if any of you have not read the readme for a while, believe me, you should. And I'm sure Peter would agree that everyone should read the readme, no mater what version it's in and how many you've read before.

So, I want to say sorry to Peter for not doing what I should've been doing every release. I really want this program to work for the health of the FSX soaring community. So for me, LESSON LEARNED, Don't neglect the readme!

  16. Open the weather options, go to user-defined weather, and click advanced weather. Now in the options clouds, winds, temp/pressure and visibility you can set different height-layers in which you can set the specific conditions you wish. With the visibility-option you can create fog at the heights. Setting windlayers with different windconditions can also give spectacular effects when fliying from one layer into the other.

    Bert

Not sure if that would help me any, but I could mess with it a while, but the fog in the valleys that I saw in real-world weather had it building in the valleys but not over the water/lake. Maybe it's even a cloud buildup, since that is what the textures look like anyway.

    sf4JC

  17. Has anyone ever found a site that has a tutorial on setting up weather? I haven't looked yet, but I'd like to set some weather up for great screenshots. When I tried TDS10 the other week, I had awsome weather for screenshots but didn't think about taking any.

In particular, I'd like to get some fog buildup in the valleys like I've seen with the real-world weather.
