  1. Also got the same impression - loaded at one spot in Valkarya airfield FL (Searey homebase) and crashed - the aircraft was submerged in the ground like if it was water. Tried again from a different ramp spot and it worked. I will try to replicate both to see if the ramp spots matter.

  2. Second try at loading the aircraft worked. Same issue with VR - SPACE key defaults to above and in front of the aircraft (moving the camera position to inside the cockpit works around this issue).

Many positives in this model! It's a bitch to fly, though for me, for a good reason - the engine sits high above the center of mass - power up means nose down - yikes.

  3. Hello everyone,

I'm new to AES, I've been flying mainly GA aircraft so I hadn't used it yet but I want to go back to airline flying and so AES is now installed. I've tested it with default 737 and... boy was it beautiful :).

I'm presently trying to configure PMDG's B1900D but I am unable to tell AES that the cargo door is on the left side. Can it be done?

    Warm regards, Alex

  4. I made some sceneries about 6 years ago, McGrath and a few other iditarod checkpoints in alaska, and with all the research about those places that it involved, looking at pictures, trying to get a feel for the places to somehow recreate that feeling in the sceneries... I got a little depressed about not being able to visit them! :) .

  5. Well Thorsten I've been an admirer of Sim-wings' quality sceneries since I think FS2000. The fact that even though FS9 has been obsolete for so long but you, with Aerosoft, still support it is fantastic, as I too am still stuck with it. And as a TCA Alaska pilot flying from Anchorage for more than 10 years now this scenery is a real treat.

You mentioned Fairbanks and other US airports might be coming next. I want to mention another alaska airport that has been forgotten by the payware industry: Ketchikan. We've had gorgeous scenery for the area since 2004, with Misty and Tongass Fjords and now the new Orbx sceneries in FSX. Most if not all of the other airports in the area are already beautifuly rendered. Still, oddly, Ketchikan Intl has remained untouched, except for one or two good freeware approaches. And it looks like an interesting airport to develop, even if a little small.

Thank you, looking forward for PANC's release.

  6. Thanks, I did install the low poly. That shows how outdated my system must be. But it was a risk I new I was taking. And the aircraft's a beauty, specially with all that aged and stained effects, by the way.

African Airstrips Adventures, on the other hand, has been working great for me and what a fantastic piece of software it is, very immersive (after only a few free flights and the introduction flight with former charlie 1). Let me congratulate Aerosoft and the software designers for this.

I'd like to add something about why I'm enjoying African Airstrips Adventures so much: around 1986 or 87, I was about 14 years old, I discovered the ZX Spectrum 48K and when by chance a pirate tape of a Psion Flight Simulator came into my possession I was hooked (and permanently, as I'm still here). There was no guns to shoot in this sim, no other aircraft to see. Ground scenery was dark blue, sky was cyan (but only when I was allowed to use the color TV to play), there were 2 or 3 runways, and I think two lakes - round lake and triangular lake. And of course, there was no side views, no external view, no ATC, no AI traffic, no clouds. Almost everything had to be imagined. And in my imagination I was flying in Africa making deliveries from one runway to the other. Where there was blue I saw the savanah and african forests, wildlife near the lakes, etc. Ever since that first flight simulator experience I think I've been wishing for an addon like AAA. Now the savanna's presence is seen and almost felt, I've flown over the flamingo colonies by the nakuru lake shore (and I think I even heard them!), spotted buffalo herds on simba taru plains, saw traditional villages and almost felt the taste of the red dusty earth in my mouth (some things still have to be imagined). So thank you, this is really a very special addon for me.

    Warm regards,

I remember this small bug in the installer, the Bush Hawk is recognized, even though the setup indicates the opposite.

If you have performance issues use the low poly model and medium resolution textures (use the Hawk's V1.10 tool for this).

But of course the Maule should do as well.

  7. I loved these screenshots, it's a place I've known well in FS flying for TCA Alaska VA since 2000. I'm still sticking with FS9 mostly and using Richard Goldstein's Alaska Cinematic in summer, which covers anchorage area with beautiful photo scenery. I'm wishing that chance will make the eventual FS9 version of this scenery and AK Cinematic fit together perfectly. If they do, flying into and out of Anchorage will look simply too gorgeous.

  8. Well I went ahead and installed AAA and found out that despite the initial message the installer had recognized Bush Hawk after all. I had the Bush Hawk livery installed and no Maule liveries. So this problem is solved:).

Unfortunately my PC is too weak for FSX and the Hawk together so I decided to remove the Hawk until I upgrade my PC and use AAA with the Maule. Unninstalled AAA and then the Bush Hawk, restarted FS, reinstalled AAA and everything went ok, I now have a Maule in nice Zebra colours. I hope I created no issues by reinstalling AAA.

    Warm regards everyone,

    Hi Aerosoft,

I bought the Bush Hawk together with the african airstrips adventurs (AAA) and have already been able to install the bush hawk. But when I try to install the AAA it says Bush Hawk not found - and I really wanted to take advantage of the new liveries. Do you have any idea what could be wrong? I wasn't able to find other mentions to this problem on the forum.

    Best regards! Rui

    *EDIT*

I should add that I installed both Bush hawk and its update, which were bundled together in a zip file.

  10. I wasn't sure if I'd get in trouble if I used the real name. :D

Oh lol, I understand:). Well, when I looked at the real aircraft I found, the fading paint created a pattern on that spot that does look like an L. So we could say that it's all for realism's sake:D.

  11. I noticed one small mistake in a texture, on one of the first screenshots: the downed DC3 has the colours of a ReeveL Aleutian. First I thought it was on purpose and only a reference to the Reeve Aleutian airline, as the livery wasn't the one I knew. But a bit of google and ntsb checking showed that a Reeve aleutian DC3 in those colours did go down in nikolski in the late 60s and it is still there. The damage you modelled is even the actual damage it shows on pics on the net - perfection is in the little details!

Probable cause of accident - premature take off due to wind gust followed by stall and crash - dutch harbour flyers beware!

    :)

  12. And I did try Alphasim's PBY:). I've been following the PBYs coming out since FS2000 maybe.

Here's a special pby model I enjoyed in FS2000. It was out from Abacus. It wasn't very good in some ways - I never got the propeller pitch to work, but the airplane model was beautiful to look at, for that time. This was before rolling wheels was invented in FS world:)

The scenery was Polynesia 2000 from www.flightworld.org, now closed. I had many many pleasurable flights in this scenery, a dream for that time, concerning ground texturing and scenery objects (It's still for sale here, it seems: http://www.flugsimulator.de/flightworld1/poly2k.htm)

  13. I've tried it also and I liked it. I've read my posts of disapointed people and some said they were expecting a diamond, while what they found was, to them a crude rock. But, in my opinion, no out-of-the-box version of FS was ever close to a diamond - such an install is what I get after 2-3 years of tuning up, hardware install and wonderful Addons that suit my style of flying. The diamond is up to the user to develop. And this FS version has the potential for the fan community to turn into a real state of the art gem.

  14. I think, in this case, they may be (relatively) few but they are among the best: ). All of the aircraft on the list you made made waves among the flight sim community, from military fans to bush pilots (excluding maybe airliners because, I believe, one of the heads from aerosoft loves props best). From the A-10 to the Super Cub with its oil level stick, a dream for the die hard bush pilot, as is the mighty Beaver. And even though I've never tried a whirly bird I am aware of what people say of the Seahawk.

Now what I'd like to see from Aerosoft if I could chose? After the coming-soon PBY:) I'd pick the DC-4!

    Regards,

    Rui
