  1. You can indeed install both side by side, I've done it myself.

BUT you may run into license activation limits if you try to activate a license too many times (this shouldn't be a problem just installing them side by side, but if you swap simulators to new computers frequently it happens).

In that case, you should submit a ticket for license reactivation.

I am sorry our ideas do not match your preferences.

However, if you manage your systems fully custom I am sure it is not such a troublesome task to 'correct' our installers.

I've no problem with such tools, I just don't want to be forced to use them :)

  3. I'd go the other way: I much prefer to install stuff myself rather than have to rely on any number of different launchers and installers, including several that just start each other. I'm sure it's handy for inexperienced users but at least always give the option for a full manual install.

Everything about my systems is custom, including the directories where things have to go. Automated installers tend to fail in such a scenario as all too often they have no way to detect properly where things are to go they get it wrong. Heck, I have both XP11 and XP12 installed and frequently automatic installers find either neither or they find the wrong one.

I have a question the 330 on x plane 12 is it a creation of aerosoft or no ,how do you find this model? thank you

There are 2 A330s, the stock one that comes with XP12 and the JarDesigns A330 that is an XP11 and XP12 compatible product sold (among others) through Aerosoft. Aerosoft isn't the creator, they're the distributor.

I really liked it in XP11, haven't used it much in XP12 as I don't really have the time any longer for long haul flights.

It's definitely not on the level of the FlightFactor and Toliss Airbusses, but it works well and looks good too. Jardesigns however doesn't have very much in the way of support and updates lately, which may bode ill for the future.

For the price though, it's a good deal.

  5. and it's rather poetic, the busiest airway and roadway in the country running parallel to each other :)

Other examples include Washington national, where aircraft have been known to mistake the frozen Potomac river in winter for the runway...

  6. Only sound problem I had was my PC suddenly and without warning resetting itself after a critical error in the sound driver of the built-in soundcard (RealTek).

    That was XP.

If it was FSX related it would only be because FSX caused DirectX to call some functionality that's broken.

Putting in a modern SoundBlaster seemed to have cured that.

  7. they work with the LDS767, so it's not a given that "jetways don't work with addons".

What I did notice is that I need to park it a bit far forward (past the stop bar) for them to work though, so maybe the same is true for your aircraft.

  8. I upgraded from a Core Duo to Core 2 Duo. Only other thing replaced was the motherboard (old motherboard didn't accept Core 2 Duo CPUs).

Performance went through the roof, literally (I've capped FSX to 20fps, which is ample).

Core Duo averaged 5-7 fps on medium low settings.

Core 2 Duo runs at 20 on medium high (locked), not found the limit yet.

  9. For the GPU, CPU, Memory and Mother Board (all that determines how many frames you get) I see a price of 671 euro (including shipping from Germany to my hill in France. That's the lowest end quad core CPU, a 8800 640 mb GTS GPU, the mobo I got and 2 mb of memory. I did not check all bits in detail but even if you pay 10% more I get nowhere close to what you quote.

Ah, you don't include everything else in the price. Harddisk, DVD drive, case, etc.

Increases it by a few hundred.

But yes, I prefer brick and mortar shops over online. Especially for more expensive stuff I like to see what I buy and not have to bother with international shipping back and forth if something goes wrong.

  10. maybe I'm behind the times, Mathijs. When I built my current rig late 2005 the specs you list would have set me back 3000 or so.

I'm fitting for the moment a mid range Core 2 Duo, budget restraints won't allow more at the moment.

The rig cost me 1600 to build with a Core Duo and a GF7600 at the time...

Anyway, going from your specs I come to something like 1200 Euro (without screen, keyboard, and operating system).

Which is indeed roughly the same my rig cost 18 months ago, but still almost twice what you said it costs.

  11. And that's what he calls a "modest" system. Sigh...

At least I'll have a Core 2 Duo from tomorrow, replacing the Core Duo that blew up flying the ATR (though likely that was a coincidence) today.

Does put the replacement of the 7600 with an 8800 on hold for a few months though, until my bank account cools down.
