MarkHurst 173
I'm experimenting with failing an engine and feathering the prop, but as far as I can tell it makes no difference to performance whether the prop is feathered or not. According to the Cat manuals, the extra drag means it is not possible to sustain a climb with a windmilling prop, even at METO power. To put it another way, does feathering in the simulated Cat do anything other than stop the prop from windmilling?
Finn 873
Feathering in the Aerosoft Catalina is the default FSX feathering simulation. I´m not sure whether FSX decreases drag from feathered props. So the not so informative answer must be: If FSX doesn´t alter drag according to propblade position (feathered or not), then the Aerosoft catalina won´t either. Feathering in FSX is in many ways flawed, thats also why the feather check after engine startup is a no go. Finn
