  1. Gavin,

I sometimes get the same problem, caused by a different add-on. When this happens FS window goes black, so I use control+C and the popup says "do you wish to quit Flight Simulator? Yes or No. I then click no and FS resumes in full screen.

I know this is just a work around and hope it works for you.

Old pilots never die, they just foreget where they tied down thier airplane!

  2. Doesn't the F15 have the ability to control the two horizontal tail surfaces independent? That would certainly help in this situation.

Yes, as a matter of fact they do. :) The Eagle is the only aircraft, that I have flown, that I would take into a fray! :!:

Of course The F-15 has been eclipsed by newer aircraft.

  3. Thanks Sascha

Can't wait until we open our Chines forums (seriously).

Then I will have my wife translate for me (She is from Hong Kong).

Oh, and Iron.Eagle, Thanks, I might take you up on that! As for official language, here in the U.S. I sometimes have trouble understanding what some of the younger folks are saying. :? I guess language is changing all over the world!

  4. I just got back from picking up my new Cessna 182, :D (I traded in my trusty old 182), :( and must say that the new G1000 glass cockpit makes Navigation alot more like flying the heavys but the ability to fly by the seat of your pants is still there. The basic information is still the same just presented in a differant way! :)

I did cheat a little though, I purchased the G1000 training program from the Garmin website for less then $10US. After reading the manual and playing on the computer with the training software (about 6 hours over 3 days) I felt good enough to go pickup the plane. The dealer and I went up for a check and fam ride and he pointed out a few functions of the G1000 that aren't covered in the basic manual and then I was on my way home. 8)

After a 3 hour flight back to the home airport, I must say the new cockpit is very nice and after I get used to all of the extra functions I'm sure that I will come to love it. :)

All this is coming from an "old codger" who was dead set on the old steam cockpit. Just goes to show ya that we all can change!

  5. Download this tool from avsim: fs9cfg16.zip

Install it and start it, then select tools and set ai taxi speed.

    Gino

    Hey Gino,

Thanks for the info, I'll give that a try, but I thought there also was a way to do it from within MyTraffic or one of the sub-programs that install with it.

  6. Hey All,

I have searched all over the forum and can't find the answer to my question. I'm running the lattest version of My traffic with FS9 and the AI traffic is taxiing too slow for my taste :? (FPS is very good, 25-40 most of the time). I'm sure I read somewhere that I can speed up the AI traffic but I can't remember where and I can't find it on the forum. I guess what I'm trying to ask is could anyone tell my how to make my AI traffic taxi faster?

    Keep'em flying!

  7. Hello,

I have it installed as it comes and it works great. Whatever your add-ons are, I don't suppose you need to tweak it at all.

    Cheers

    Manta

    Hi All,

I recieved my shipment lastnight and installed FS Global 2008 in FS9 and as promised I'm posting my results. As Manta says it works well just as it installs but after over 10 hours checking different locations in the sim world I found a few spots that some add-on sceneries didn't look right or did not show at all even with all my display sliders maxed out. :?

I started moving the Global sceneries down the list until all of the test locations and add-on sceneries displayed properly. The final placement of all the Global scenery is below all of the add-on scenery, including the "Add-On Scenery" entry but above all of the rest of the FS9 default scenery.

Over all I like how FS Global 2008 looks and I'm very pleased with the fact that there is not a major FPS hit, 1 or 2 FPS at most! The detail is amazing and once properly placed on your list, works very well with all default and add-on scenery. :)

I hope that this well help anyone who has the same question I had.

  8. Hi Shaun,

Thanks for the quick reply. That's what I was thinking but I wanted at least a second opinion.

I'll make sure it has low priority when I install it. If it works, or if I have to move it around a bit to make it work and get it fine tuned, then I'll post results so we'll all Know.

  9. Hey All,

Just got off of the telephone with Microsoft tech suppert and he confirmed that the servers that carry the weather and the FS news are down for repair and upgrade and they should be back up and running in about 48 hours, sooner if all of the repairs go smooth. :)

Well, at least we all now know that we will have weather back soon. :D

I just thought everyone would like to know what I found out!

  10. Hey All,

Just bought FS Global 2008 and waiting for it to arrive. :) I know this is maybe a dumb question. I just wanted to make sure that I have it in the right place on my list when I install it. :? Am I correct in thinking all FS Global 2008 scecery should go above the default scenery and below everything else? :?:

  11. Hey All,

I had a strange problem today, I was creating a flight, in FS9, and had every thing set up but the weather and time. when I tried to set up the real world weather, it started to download and then the sim crashed to desktop. :? I then tried to do it again with the same result. :( So then I created the flight and didn't touch the weather and all loaded OK. Once I got in the sim I tried to load the real weather and it started to download and then crashed to desktop. Everything was working fine earlier today and I've not made any changes to my sim or my computer in about a week. If anyone has had this happen or any ideas on how to cure this, it sure would be of help.

  12. Hey All,

Look at it this way, with AES and all of the other airports and add-ons, FS9 looks better, runs better and is easier to do what you want to do in. 8) :!: As long as Oliver keeps going on AES and the rest of the gang at Aerosoft keep turning out more great add-ons for FS9, I'll keep flying with it. :!:  I have uninstalled FSX from my machine and it will stay on the shelf till Microsoft gets it right! :x (My guess is about the year 2008 or maybe 2009) As always Microsoft released a product before completing the beta testing, just like Vista

Oh wait.........we are beta testing FSX and Vista now  , my bad!
