  1. 2 Questions:

Does anyone of you had an CTD WITHOUT using ActiveSky?

I dont have it installed, maybe I should?

Does anyone of you had a CTD WITHOUT using AES?

    Just to sort it out.

    In short, yes and yes.

I have now logged over 60 flights to EGLL from LFPG with the Aerosoft LTU A321, Posky 747-400, Level D 767-300ER, Lago Maddog MD-80, PMDG Beechcraft 1900C, default 737, default Lear 45, default Cessna 172 and digital Av Piper Cheyenne. I have tried everything from FS9 and Heathrow only to everything to the firewall.

All flights but 4, with the Cessna, ended with a CTD while on long final just after turning onto the rwy heading at about 10nm. The Cessna flights where rough with slow loading textures and frame rates dropping to 7 or 8 at around the 12 to 9 nm range. Once on the ground all was OK.

My guess is that something is overwhelming the FS9 engine and when using higher speed aircraft, FS9 can't keep up with the demand.

I'm going to try disabling each texture and bgl one by one to see if I can find the offending file or files.

    Dell XPS710 H2C

    IntelĀ® Core2 Quad CPU @ 3.192GHz (4CPUs)

4 GB RAM (only 2.814GB is recoginzed)

    2 x 750GB HDs RAID 0 for a total of 1.5TB HD space (only 12% full)

OS is MS Win XP Pro (5.1, Build 2600)

    DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

2 x Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX 768.0 MB cards (SLI enabled)

    Dell 2407WFP (Digital) set @ 1920 x 1200 (32 bit) (60Hz)

  2. Thorsten,

    No joy!

I removed and reinstalled with normal textures and then installed your last posted files in the zip, inofficialpatch and then made a total of 18 flights to EGLL from LFPG with the Aerosoft LTU A321, Posky 747-400, Level D 767-300ER, Lago Maddog MD-80, PMDG Beechcraft 1900C, and default 737. Each aircraft was flown on the same flght plan 3 times, (day time with AS6 weather and Pilots global mesh, daytime with the mesh and no weather, and daytime no mesh and no weather). No other add on scenery.

All flights ended in a CTD (g3d.dll error) anywhere between 11 and 8nm while on approach to Rwy27R. I further slewed each aircraft to 25 miles and made approaches to the other rwys with the same results at 8 to 11 nm.

My FS9 is 9.1 and the rest of my system details are as follows:

    Dell XPS710 H2C

    IntelĀ® Core2 Quad CPU @ 3.192GHz (4CPUs)

4 GB RAM (only 2.814GB is recoginzed)

    2 x 750GB HDs RAID 0 for a total of 1.5TB HD space (only 12% full)

OS is MS Win XP Pro (5.1, Build 2600)

    DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

2 x Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX 768.0 MB cards (SLI enabled)

    Dell 2407WFP (Digital) set @ 1920 x 1200 (32 bit) (60Hz)

  3. Hi all,

Not sure about buying this as I already have a Heathrow scenery. FPS is pretty bad though as I am using 66% AI traffic. It is bearable. Yeah I know I can turn the traffic lower but I don't want to as it works well with other even more detailed scenery.

So my Q is this. How does Simwings EGLL handle with 66% AI traffic? Is it a jerkovision slideshow or an improvement over the other offerings out there?

    cheers

I'm guessing that the other Heathrow is uk2000's. I had Heathrow pro installed and had to turn my traffic down to about 50% with a large fps hit. I removed the the pro and installed Simwings-Aerosoft London Heathrow 2008 with no statics and High res graphics and ran the slidders all the way up and turned my traffic up to 100%.

I found that I took a very small (1 to 2 fps) hit. and very fluid motion in the scenery.

I think London Heathrow 2008 is the best buy of the year and as another sim-pilot wrote, "AES is the icing on the cake!"

  4. Getting back on topic I hope Simwings sprinkles some static aircraft around the airport. At certain times of the day traffic can be pretty sparse using programs like Ultimate Traffic. A little static aircraft here and there insures a nice rounded level of traffic around the airport at all times...

I agree as well, Dillion. I just got back from a short visit to the UK and we (the crew and I) had some time to kill while I waited on the client to arrive, so we poked around a bit and it seems like there is always some kind of activity. 8) Anyway, after being there I really can't wait till the scenery is out!

Is there a release date yet? :?:

  5. Just one thing DirectX 10 is already available and running, just check Nvidia and Ati webpages with their Directx 10 demos,...

    Wedge,

I don't want to start a fray but as I stated before the current "Full" version of DirectX is 9.0c. Yes There is a "Demo and preveiw" of ver.10 that is out. There is also a SDK out that contains some of the 3D rendering code but the full version is still in the works.

All my info is coming stright from a Microsoft Manager and engineer who is involved with the project. I get to talk with him face to face one to two times a week as he boards the aircraft that Microsoft leases from our company.

  6. Once again I am confused, DX10 will not be released for ages, quote from earlier post.

If this is right, what have I installed on my Vista machine with this file:-

    directX_aug2007_redist?

This file found when Googling Direct x!0 on the net?

    John,

The latest DirectX version is 9.20.1057 (9.0c). The file you have installed is DirectX End-User Runtimes, and it is the latest update for DirectX 9.0c.

  7. We still haven't seen the full Vista/DX10 version. Once that comes out I may take a look...

Dillon, you might be waiting for a while. The inside information from a confidental MS source is that DX10 is not going well and is causing big problems with Vista. As far as Vista goes, he states that several major service packs are being worked on to fix only a small amount of the known major bugs.

When I asked him about the time frame that we might see good frame rates with FSX, He said when DX10 gets working and the bugs in Vista are taken care of.

When asked when that might be, my source said, "Don't hold your breath!"

  8. I had this happen after I loaded another aircraft and by chance started my AES 1.90 help.

AES warned me that a file ***.dll was not in the right place and then it fixed the problem and the aircraft loaded fine after that.

If you have the latest AES, try starting AES help and see if that might help! 8)

    Just a thought

  9. Due to a hard drive problem I had to completely reload all of my flight software. I was lucky enough to backup all of my downloads and keys eccept one..... worldcup. I was able to re-download the file but I don't have my key, I checked my on-line account but coudn't find it there. Would it be possible to get the key re-sent to me?

    Thanks,

  10. What airports are we talking about?

    Hi Mathjis,

Ramstein AFB Germany, Sembach AFB Germany, and Bitburg AFB Germany, but I have been informed that Bitburg has been decomissioned and I guess is now a GA airport.

  11. Marco, Shaun, and Mathijs,

    Update:

I have an answer from my friend, a General in the USAF, and it's good news of sorts.

Access to the facilites can be granted and photos made within limits but the proccess is quite detailed, too much to go into here.

Please have who ever needs this info contact me via e-mail and I'll get the details to them.
