  1. Hi,

    are you sure PANC even uses VDGS? I have only found a video with a human marshaller. So this would explain why it is not implemented...if it does not exist in real life.

    FYI: I had the same behaviour with VDGS when spawning at LLBG. (with the PMDG 737 at Gate D8)

    Display way down below the actual VDGS.

    After a while fideling in the cockpit (preparations) and switching views from there to here, the display 'corrected itself' and was at the correct height. Didn't recognize when or why this happened.

    I flew into LLBG the day before (also 737) and everything was fine.

    I don't have any ship addons installed.

    Thanks for the info...yes...it is expected it does not happen when arriving, but only when departing and "might" correct itself when switching views.

    We are looking into ways on how to fix this mesh related behaviour.

    It seems the same Issu is also on the Ben Guron Airport. Test it with the FBW. Here a Screenshot:

    Update I just zoomed out with S and come back than it works interessting.

    Yes Rainer:

    this is what I would expect...that moving the view some distance away and coming back forces the sim to reposition the object. So, as the scenery mesh has been loaded completely by then, it finally ends up at the correct altitude.

    Hi

    Your condition waits that the index 0 of the matrix is equal to 10.
    On the image of dataref tool it is at 1

    So try the value 1 in your condition.

    Hervé

    Actually it is not 10, but 1.0...so this should be fine. But he indeed should check with the "Christmas Tree" application, if the LEDs are functional outside the simulator, like suggested by Cedric.

    Hi, just a quick Test, with FBW A320N and the CRJ9-900 I have the Issue. With the PMDG B737-700 not.

    lg Rainer

    Hi Rainer,

    normally I would expect the issue to be unrelated to the loaded aircraft...maybe only by coincidence due to overall msfs load or something.

    In the end "it seems" to come down to the fact that GCLP, unlike the other airports using the vdgs driver so far, is quite "mesh volatile" due to its location, so the altitudes at which certain objects are placed in relation to ground elevation are sometimes not updated correctly. Have you tried what happens, if you take the showcase (drone) camera, move several 100m away and come back to your position? Sometimes this fixes the wrong altitude placement.

    Nevertheless, we are going to look into implementing an alternative way which does not rely on having the correct ground elevation.

  6. Hi Edward,

    thanks for the suggestion.

    The only issue I am seeing is that we potentially have to get rid of the user interface all together in the future...to allow for xbox support. So...I am not sure we should extend the current ui to allow for that, although I agree a solution outside the aircraft selection's customize screen would be nice to have. So...I will keep it in my mental backlog to ponder on.

  7. Hi Daniel,

    normally, AO should put in the correct auto-start definitions into that file for you, so if that did not happen, something is definitely off with the install. Nevertheless, you can try to alter and save the file as below, and see if it helps your case:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252"?>
    <SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
    	<Descr>Launch</Descr>
    	<Filename>exe.xml</Filename>
    	<Disabled>False</Disabled>
    	<Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>
    	<Launch.Addon>
    		<Name>Aerosoft VDGS Driver</Name>
    		<Disabled>False</Disabled>
    		<Path>{PATH_TO_YOUR_SIMULATOR}\Community\aerosoft-vdgs-driver\aerosoft-vdgs-driver.exe</Path>
    	</Launch.Addon>
    </SimBase.Document>

    Don't forget to replace {PATH_TO_YOUR_SIMULATOR} with the actual path to your Community folder and the "aerosoft-vdgs-driver.exe".

  8. Hi Daniel and welcome to our forums.

    Is that something that happens all the time?

    What I see directly is that it does not look like you are using the most recent airport version there...the vdgs system is still the old one, so you will have to update that.

    Please close the sim, go to your "Community\aerosoft-vdgs-driver" location and open up the file "aerosoft-vdgs-driver-log.ini" with a text editor. In there, set "Verbose=1" and save the file. Open up the sim again, load into an VDGS supported airpoirt and bring up the ui. Finally attach the file "aerosoft-vdgs-driver-log.log" created in "Community\aerosoft-vdgs-driver" here for me to take a look.

  10. Hi Ollie,

    thanks for the heads-up.

    Glad you have found a work-around, for now. One of the medium time frame goals will be to get rid of the potentially error-prone autostart mechanism all together by refactoring the vdgs-driver into a was-module, which will be run by MSFS directly. Which will also allow us to potentially bring it onto X-BOX.

    Regarding the other supported airports (so far our EDDK, EDLP and ENVA): resources have been kinda bound by the Aero Expo where we were present. Now that this is over, while I don't know any specific dates, I am not expecting any huge delays. Would be surprised if it was more then week(s) ;).

    Hi Ben - we're making progress. I can't explain the Desktop link, other than there being an older copy of the module folder there from when I was troubleshooting initially. I deleted it just in case - can confirm everything is now ONLY in the Community folder.

    Ollie,

    can you also try and see if it helps your case to explicitly exclude the aerosoft-vdgs-driver.exe from any AntiVirus software like Windows Defender or Norton? And double check that the aerosoft-vdgs-driver.exe as well as MSFS itself are actually started with administator rights, so that all roadblocks which might prevent a successful and complete auto-start are moved out of the way.

    Okay, I've found that if I run MSFS as 'Admin', the VDGS does auto load with MSFS, so will be doing that in future. Obviously something in my settings somewhere preventing the exe.xml from running.

    Yeah: having an application start another application can sometimes cause funky results, so making sure the calling application has as many right as possible (aka admin) can surely be helpful.

    Thanks for letting us know what did the trick for you.

  13. vor 13 Stunden schrieb AndyM001:

    I don't use Windows Defender, but I have Norton installed, will look in to seeing Norton is stopping the file from initialising. Thanks for the tip.

    Edit: Tried the excludes in Norton and it's still not auto loading with MSFS.

    Can you alsp still add an exclusion to Windows Defender, anyways? Just to make sure it is made sure it is not interfering in the background.

  14. vor 14 Stunden schrieb lucky67:

    Since I was observing the same annoying issue eventually I was able to find a solution, at least for my case, to avoid manual startup.

    Actually the default Win10 OS Defender antivirus (not using any other AV on my system) seems to interfere: hence simply preset an exclusion for the aerosoft-vdgs-driver.exe executable in the Windows security settings.

    Now the executable nicely and automatically intializes at startup (and de-init as well when quitting), no need to preset the executable to run as admin and no need to switch  Defender off.

    I hope it can help.

    Thanks for that valuable information. Highly appreciated. So...you are saying that is now works reliably for you, everytime you start the sim?

    I also use Win10 defender, but don't have to do it....but who knows what those bits and bytes are doing in the background anyways 🙂 .

    Maybe the others experiencing this problem can chime in, if adding the aerosoft-vdgs-driver.exe to their AntiVirus excludes helps letting MSFS autostart it.
