Here is my video of Echo performing aerobatics at McLeland Field. The display is very loosely based on my real life solo display but of course we had no ring of fire and I was not allowed to go this low so the resemblance is a bit faint! The video runs for about 18 minutes, is in HD and very suitable for Full Screen Mode.
If you have a slowish Broadband which causes buffering pauses, click the Pause icon in the bottom left corner, then click the resolution up to 1080p...Now WAIT as the pink band moves from left to right, till it gets about halfway across. Now click that same Pause icon to start it running again and finally click the Full Screen icon at bottom right...It should now run through without further pausing.
At the end you will see a "Replay" button...If you click that you will get an uninterupted full screen replay!

Hi Shaun...I thought I might do that too!...The rate of roll at slow speed is VERY slow but fortunately it picked up quickly as I fell out towards the sea and the elevators bit harder too, as you could see. I would use more starting speed for any future roll but the aeroplane is not really aerobatic
Hi Andras...The VNE is 110 MPH but I imagine they used a ready available ASI from one of their bigger models

I finally got this to work how it was supposed to:-

Unzip the downloaded file to anywhere and it will create a folder called 208_Squadron_in_Kenya...Open the folder and doubleclick the file "208_Squadron_in_Kenya.pps".
The PowerPoint presentation should now play with music.
If you just let it run then it will go for about half an hour.
If you do not have Microsoft's PowerPoint then you can download a free PowerPoint Viewer here:-

I really enjoyed my first flight in this freeware machine at McLeland Seaplane Base.
It has a rather unique feel and is laterally a bit pendulous, but I think you might expect that with the big hull.
I like the look of it a lot and would like to see an AI Traffic version popping in and out of the Seaplane Base...I think I will make a special Traffic Version for that purpose and I also think I will base it over at the Marine Services pontoon.

When I built McLeland Field I spent a considerable time building the Approaches to the runways...I built five approaches:-
ILS R/W 31
GPS R/W 31
ILS R/W13
GPS R/W 13
VOR R/W 31
Runway 13 is the most hazardous to approach due to the proximity of mountainous terrain, but for the GPS approach to this runway I built in a bit of offset from the extended runway centreline to give greater lateral separation from these mountains.
The attached YouTube video shows the use of this approach in a Light Sports Aircraft (LSA)...The Cessna 162 with the Garmin 300 Glass Panel. The video runs for almost 15 minutes and is only suitable for Flight Sim enthusiasts and more especially for those who fly light GA aircraft rather than airliners. I have not listed it publicly as it would bore most people.
However if the subject interests you then here is the Abacus version of the Cessna 162 with Garmin glass panel doing a short three legged cross-country, finishing with a GPS approach onto runway 13 in real weather (raining). Bear in mind that LSA aircraft are really VFR only and they do not have airways navigation facilities...However, it is nice to know that if you get caught out by the weather then this panel will allow you to do an autopilot controlled approach that will get you safely down.
The video is in HD and should be clicked up to the full resolution of 1080 and viewed in Full Screen Mode...This will allow you to see the mouse clicks to load and activate the approach and to control the altitude and rate of descent throughout the approach.

I saw a recommendation for a lights improvement for FS9 by Nick Needham and I installed them from the download file called "Nicks_Lightfix_V2.zip".
I am very pleased with the results and here are a sequence of Traffic screenshots...The only edits are on the 1st, 8th and 9th, which have the contrast increased to show the star constellations.
The package provides auto installers to install the new lights or restore the original lights...The "install new lights" offers installers for "Aircraft Lights", "Airport Lights", "Landing Lights" and "Tower and Ground Beacon Lights" with excellent instructions.

Since I updated this video to HD it has become my firm favourite...In Full Screen mode and 1080 resolution I can see so many small details around my base...I spot something new every time I run it
Just in case anyone does not know how this sort of flying is done...I flew all three aeroplanes...First on my own in the Red Machine. Then I played that back as Traffic and formated on it, in the Blue machine with the chrome cowling, and split at the right time and came in the right way to thread the needle with the Red machine while rolling in time to his roll. Finally I played back both of those as Traffic and flew the lighter blue machine with the 5 cylinder radial, continuing on when they split and did a half loop and roll off to come in at 90 degrees to the runway and roll under their smoke trails as they threaded the needle. Then I had to judge my circuit to get down and join with the other two on the turn off the runway for the taxy in and parking...Great fun and I just loved it and I love watching it happen all over again

Peter - as a newcomer to this forum I was greatly interested to read of your experiences
on Viscount and Vanguard aircraft. My first ever flight as a passenger on any aeroplane was
made in a BEA Vanguard in August 1965, flying from London's Heathrow to Belfast Aldergrove airport.
This beautiful turboprop (of which BEA operated 20) had an engine note to match its looks, a musical
sound that was a unique feature in the London skies of the 60's and 70's. But my curiosity now is to know
the particular aircraft I flew in on that first flight of mine. As far as I know only one Vanguard now
survives, preserved at Wisley and this situation only heightens my curiosity. Did BEA keep any logbooks of their
aircraft movements and route operations? I guess they must have done if only for servicing requirements.

I think it would be very difficult now to find which Vanguard you flew in, as the relavent records have probably been scrapped...You don't say what date in August 1965 that you flew to Belfast from LHR but for interest my logbook reveals that I flew that sector in August 1965 as follows:-
4th August in G-APEO
14th August in G-APEP
15th August in G-APEM
16th August in G-APEP
21st August in G-APEK
Also for interest G-APEP now resides at Brooklands and they do very occasional engine runs on the RR Tynes

Just as a matter of interest Mathijs, your site is using the wrong "Embed" code for my video and that precludes selecting "Full Screen Mode"...The correct Embed code will place a "Full Screen Mode" icon in the bottom right corner.
In case it is of use, here is the correct Embed code:-
