zombotron 1
Hello, I´m always looking for difficult approaches with a late final turn and there is only one nice video which shows unknow difficult approaches: Do you know other interesting approaches? Thanks for your help, zombotron
FloG 31
LOWI, Localiser RW26, then circle to land on 08. Really a nice approach, particularly in low visibility. Besides, even the slightly offset LOC to 26 can be quite some fun to fly. Not realistic, as the real world airport does not exist, but still one of the greatest and most challenging approaches: The checkerboard approach to Kai Tak RWY13, leaing you into the airport just a few feet above to roofs of Hong Kong! Best enjoyed with FlyTampa's Kai Tak scenery! Lukla with its steep upward sloped runway
zombotron 1
Thankyou for your help!!!! With a Boing 737 I am not able to make this circle at LOWI on 08 because in FSX the valley is very small. Are there any sceneries available for LOWI? Lukla is a very nice airport but I think the FSX scenery isn´t realistic. In the video at the beginning there is shown the Aspen approach on runway 33 is it really existing? zombotron
simopilot 0
This video is well done but the Aspen approach on runway 33 isn´t existing in the real world There a lot more interesting sceneries in FSX: Nice - France Cuzco - Peru Courchevel - France Lukla - Nepal Santos Dumont - Brazil Tivat - Montenegro In the video they also show the FS Open scenery of Paro which is one of the best freeware scenery for FSX I hope I can help you, simopilot
zombotron 1
I have just downloaded the FS Open scenery, it´s marvellous. For which airports do polits need a special training? I only know it from LOWI and Madeira. Sure there are a lot more. zombotron
FloG 31
There's "Approaching Innsbruck" by Aerosoft, which models not only the airport itself but also the city of Innsbruck. I can't recall for sure, but I think that the default Inn valley isn't too much off regarding its width. Could be I'm wrong, though - it's been a while since I've flown there in default FSX... zombotron 1
This aerosoft scenery looks great but it´s so expensive!!! Aren´t there any freeware sceneries of LOWI
Emi 5161
Also try the circling approach into Lugano's runway 19 (LSZA). The IGS25 approach into Sion (LSGS) isn't bad either. Nice 6° Glidepathes on these two! Some other nice approaches are Madeira (LPMA), Paro (VQPR), and Courchevel (LFLJ).
freddy4242 15
I've done the full approach in to PARO BHUTAN (VQPR) a few times in an actual airline 737 full motion simulator. It includes a (very) late final turn. The aircraft need to weave through dozens of houses scattered across the mountainside and come literally within feet of missing the roofs. Landing there depends very much on the prevailing weather conditions. The airport is considered so dangerous that there are (apparently) only 8 pilots in the world qualified to land there. And yet, despite how treacherous it is, you rarely hear it mentioned in lists of dangerous approaches/airports. There's a few YouTube videos on the Internet of the approach taken from cockpits; although, considering the fun and thrills I have when I do it in the full motion simulator, the videos strangely don't seem to portray the excitement of it that I might have expected. The full motion simulator gives a good idea of what it might be like in real-life, but I still find it a damn lot of fun in FSX.
