CKAJCA 2
PFPX takes quite a long time to start with the majority of the time with the message "Updating route cache for first time use" during the initialisation process. Is this normal? Regards Colin
srcooke 422
Hello Colin, I only see the "Updating route cache for first time use" when the cache doesn't exist ie on new install. If you add routes from another source I guess this would trigger the update also. Should you have installed the 9000+ routes option then I guess it would take a little while to run, I have 1300 routes installed and PFPX is fully started in around 45sec. CKAJCA 2
Hi Stephen I see that message every time I start up PFPX. Is something missing from my system or is there something I should be doing? Regards Colin
srcooke 422
There is nothing specific for you to do Colin, when you close PFPX a file '~RouteCache.tmp' is generated in folder 'C:\Users\Public\Documents\PFPX Data\Temp' I guess that if for some reason this cannot be written too then on loading you'll see updating route cache each time. You could try deleting ~RouteCache.tmp with PFPX closed, restart and the cache will be generated. Close once again and the tmp file should be re-created. There are other reasons for the cache been generated but I certainly don't see this on every start.
CKAJCA 2
Hi Stephen I followed your instructions and everything happened as you suggested it would. I still have the message "Updating route cache for first time use" but it was only for 7 seconds as opposed to 1 minute 7 seconds before. That is clearly a vast improvement. I am surprised that I still get the message but at least PFPX is starting much quicker. Thanks for all your help, much appreciated.
