B747-400 PW4056 Template; Mach Number v. TAS

Recommended Posts

Hello PFPX Developers,

I am really enjoying the program. However, I've noticed when planning some long distance flights with the B744 PW4056-P3 aircraft template, the en-route time output by PFPX was much shorter than that given by the FMC after programming the route and inserting the applicable winds.

I looked at the cruise tables in the template txt document and noticed the TAS at various Mach numbers for the PW-variant is way too high (by about 22kts) For example, for M84 at FL350 the table shows 506 kTAS (ISA conditions) whereas this should be nearer 484kTAS. The templates for the other B744 engine variants (GE and RR) do have the correct figure of 484kTAS for M84 at FL350. The same applies for M85 and M86 profiles.

Not a huge point, but maybe something to look into on a future update.

Regards,
