rvc 1
What causes this to happen in FSX? I have it on probably 20 or so planes in FSX both on payware and free downloads. I have Windows XP Pro with SP3 and I am using FSX SP1 and SP2. rvc 1
I kept trying to add an image from photobucket but for some reason I am doing something wrong, hope someone can help me without an image. The outside textures of the fuselage are missing, but the interior textures are there. Hope this helps understand my problem.
Shaun Fletcher 570
Hello rvc, Un-install SP2/Acceleration from FSX and then Re-install SP2/Acceleration. A corrupted SP2 installation is being known to cause these types of graphics issue.
rvc 1
Thanks Shaun, I will give it a try.
rvc 1
OK, I reinstalled FSX SP2 and it did not correct the problem, any other suggestions?
Shaun Fletcher 570
Hello RVC, Did you try re-installing the product too. But the issue is within your FSX and not the products, I dread to think but it may mean a complete re-install of your FSX.
rvc 1
Hi Shaun, thought I would let you know I stumbled across a fix for my texture problem, thank God I didn't have reinstall FSX. It turns out I had purchased a plane from another source previously and it had the textures missing after installation, I talked to a Customer Service person I had bought it from and they did not know what caused it to happen but suspected FSX SP2. I was going through the XP Control Panel and saw it was still in my system, I deleted it and all my other plane textures are now there. Geez, why didn't I do that before? At any rate, it is fixed, just wanted you to know and thank you for the reply. Hello RVC, Did you try re-installing the product too. Shaun Fletcher 570
Hello RVC, Could you please PM me and let me know which aircraft it was so I can maybe suggest it as well if re-installing SP2 doesn't work.

jeanco46 0
The reason is that many planes that where developed for fs9 and upgraded to fsx are incompatible with dx10. You get your textures back if, in the graphics settings you uncheck the box "preview directx 10", but in doing so you'll of course miss some of the special effects produced by dx10. Software producers should inform customers whether their product is dx10 compatible or not. Examples: Aerosofts KatanaX, Wilco 737 PIC, CLS A330/340 are all NOT dx10 compatible and it gave me a lot of chagrin, because I refuse to go back to dx9 (my pc can run dx11!) jeanco46 0
BTW, I downloaded A2A's P51d Mustang the other week, and that one showed white textures as well. But after installing the update, the texture where there in all their glory! So is the problem really so big?
Shaun Fletcher 570
Hello Jeanco, I'm afraid the initial issue isn't about white textures and DX-10 its about not seeing the aircraft properly as if bits were missing, please see the picture
jeanco46 0
Hi Shaun, please tell me what picture you mean in your last reply. The plane preview in the "free flight screen"?

DX10 does not apply. And even when you check the DX10 box FSX remains a DX9 game whether you like it or not. There is no `refusal` you simply have no choice. DX10 preview is exactly that, a pre-beta slightly-modified FSX so that it uses the DX10 API pipeline under a few circumstances. As it was never completed, you will never have a DX10 FSX.
