I've actually been involved with vWorld possibly being used for Flight Simulation for a number of months now and we've just implemented massive autogen buildings built off building footprints...

Pretty much everything is procedurally done, which is a very big paradigm shift from FSX... It means things like dynamic occlusion, and much more... More detail, better frames per second, etc etc etc...

I can post more info on that once I've tracked down the links...
