HI Keith I was able to instal the A-10 into fsx, a few problems showed up

1)the gun fires continuously as well as the sound 2) you cant bring up the GPS because shift 3 gets you a cockpit view instead 3)when you flip back and forth from virtual cockpit to the 2 D view the two views interact at the cost of frame rates Once changed over though it works quite reasonably,aside from those few problems

Keith I was able to solve the continously firing cannon by deleating a line of code in the cfg file, it seems that aerosoft uses the lights as cannon fire (bless there hearts) and to get rid of the sound of cannon firing i deleated that sound from the sound file folder

I tried the A10 install into FSX, following instructions above. The AC setup but FSX will not recognize any gauges when I open the program. Lots of old gauge messages and A-10 crashes. What do I have to do to get gauges loaded/working? :(

The first thing I did was to create a new folder inside the FSX folder. Look in the fsx.cfg file for a group of lines that begin "SimObjectPaths" Insert another line under the last of this group "SimObjectPaths.6=Aircraft" you might have to change the number to a higher one if there is already sixth sim object line ,change it to 7 etc .now save that line to the fxs.cfg file.Now open the FS9 folder and go to the Aircraft folder , open that and COPY ,dont cut. copy the aeorosoft A-10 folder and all its sub folders to the desk top . Now go back to the FSX folder ,find the Aircraft folder we just created and "Paste"the whole A-10 folder from the desk top to FSX folder , Once thats done Start FSX and try it out.I have not had any problems with the guages at all.Did you install the A-10 folder from the aerosoft disc itself or from the FS9 folder? You could, maybe try to deleate all of what you already have in your FSX folder with the A-10 and try again,Other than that I wouldnt know where to start, :? Good luck....Randy

I have been getting the same "black bar effect" if after changing screens(from 2D cockpit to 3D) you notice part of one "view" over lapping the other you can at least get back to the black screen only by going to the "MAP VIEW" then cancelling out of the map view... I have tried everything I can think of to alleviate the "black Bar Effect " No luck so far :? ... have you had any problems with your gauges?

To get rid of the black bar you have to change one line in the panel.cfg.

[Default View]

X=0

Y=0

SIZE_X=8192

//SIZE_Y=5555

SIZE_Y=6143

You will see this by quite a number of FS9 ported aircarfts and this fix does correct it.

Hey Martin THANK YOU :D:D Whew Heww !!

that one has been bugging me for a while. One other bug-a-boo of mine

is, has any body out there found a way to view the GPS or is there a way to activate it (the GPS) without using the "shift 3" command?

This is not forgotten :)

During the last days I was on a very special FSX mission.... I thought I had an error with my FSX configuration. I did several re-install and finally went from XP to Vista. The error was still there.

Let me describe the error: When I was taxiing on the runway their was a tremendous friction causing masses of smoke and debris flying around and partly hiding the aircraft. well, at least that was what I believed I was seeing.

Finally I posted some screen shots and was promptly informed that this was nothing more than the snow effect of FSX. :shock:

I am an imaginary guy, but how from a completely snow-free runway such amounts of snow can rise into the air and doing so looking not like snow at all ...

So now I finally have found something in FSX to rant about. I am still in the process of re-installing everything. When it comes to the A-10, I will check and post my findings here.

Cheers Martin

By the way, is there a replacement for this horrible effect?

:? Its A conspiracy I say ... A conspiracy,, that Bill Gates is out to get us all

:wink: :wink:

I will trundle through the files and see if I can find the "snow effects "

and thanks again Martin for the previous fix

okay, I feel like an idiot. :oops:

I've used Aerosoft installer, and am confused as to what to do from here. I assume that I need to move the files from within the Aircraft folder which was created be the installer, into the SimObjects/Airplanes/ folder.

Then what?

Any help is very appreciated.

Thx!

Did you instal the a-10 into fs-9 first ,or are you going striaght from the disk .or was your copy of the a-10 a download?

Randy

If you scroll up this post to August 15 ,I think I covered fairly completely

the process I used. I had the hard copy disk ,I don't see why there would

be any difference in the installation

look to see if the installer created a separate "Aircraft " folder in the

program files/Microsoft games/Microsoft flight simulator X,if the installer

didn't do that you might try creating a separate folder the Way described

in the aforementioned post

I did not install the A-10 folder into the Simobjects/Airplanes,folder

Good luck, I will check back later

Thanks Randy.

Well, after some progress I was able to follow directions as above. However, I still cannot see the A10 in the list of available aircraft?

In the pictures of the Current Aircraft/Select Aircraft screen

on the startup of a Free Flight go to the top left of the screen

Aircraft Manufacturer click on All and scroll down that section

,and if were lucky Fairchild Republic will be there,if it is click

on that and pick one by double clicking on a picture

I hope this works for you as im running out of ideas

Tried that already. :?

I wonder if there is some difference as far as the installation of the download version vs. the CD (can't imagine so)

I've double-checked everything:

1) Ran the downloaded Aerosoft installer

2) Pointed to the main FSX directory within Vista

3) Installer created two directories, "Aerosoft" and "Aircraft"

4) Edited fsx.cfg to reflect SimObjectPaths.6=Aircraft

I am running Vista64-bit, but that shouldn't matter either? -Am I missing something?

I didn't know you are running vista

maybe there are some issues with

that operating system that need you

to do things differently.I am afraid

that I have no experience with vista

whatsoever.The last thing I can think

of would be to install the A-10 into

FS9 ,get it running there than " copy "

the files from FS9 to FSX

Other than that I am at a loss :?

Good luck
