  1. Hello Alain,

You only quoted part of the answer as if it was the full answer!

Hi! Shaun, with all due respect I said in my post "if I remember correctly"...since I don't remember correctly please feel free to add what ever is missing so you can refresh my memory as to what was your complete answer on the night texture.

  2. Very few add-on's are good but the majority are not. I wouldn't mind Aerosoft to be the big supplier cause I know they would bring consistency and reliability. We wouldn't have to hear bs like: Customers nowadays demand/expect utmost perfect performance right out the box or download??? Daaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!

    Enough,

    MAB

Yes Aerosoft does have some very good addons, I have some of them BUT when I asked why they do not make night texture on all of their US X cities their answer was if I remember correctly "Most peoples don't fly at night" that may be true but I am one of them who does fly at night and I would not care to pay twice the price for night texture.

You are right.... Aerosoft can't please everybody and that is why if they allow other dev. to make addons for AFS2013 (assuming AFS2013 wil one day be released) you can turn around go to another dev. and by the city with night texture......if you don't find what you need from Aerosoft.

  3. I think we would all like to know that alain. But if they are working with MS then I don't think they are going to be allowed to tell us even if they wanted too.

There you go, see how easy it is to make deduction....remember Mathis comments..... Quote "What I am going to say now is personal. Not Aerosoft comment." end of quote.

Aerosoft will have a winner with AFS2013 > ....only if they use the latest thecnology available (SLI, DX11, 6 core +.....) and if other dev. are allowed to make addons for it cause I don't want to have to buy addons from one supplier only.

  4. I disagree that it is a yes/ no answer. It very much depends on what MS flight turns out to be: Sim or online arcade game.

I understand but my question is more like "Is Aerosoft on board with MS Flight no matter what it is" .....

so they are on board "yes" or they are not on board with MS "No"......

  5. "Do I make senses or do you think I'm that far off my rockers......Posted Image"

    Of course you are.

The Throne is empty since FSX was the last and final so it is up for grasp. If Aerosoft hits the mother load, all the right stuff, with the new simulator FSX will be dumped faster than a blink of an eye. Add-on's mean nothing when new and better is right in front of you. I once dumped MSFS for twelve years and guess what I can still do it again for a better one.

    Full ahead Aerosoft!!!

    Cheers,

    MAB

Sitting in your seat I can understand your position but sitting in Aerosoft's seat I'm not sure it's a good thing $$$ wise. ..I'm just like you and I would like to see a far better sim. than FSX so do not think I'm not for Aerosoft if they want to come out with a new sim....more power to them.... so lets forget about my question on addons compatibility and let me ask this question to Aerosoft.......

Question: Aerosoft or Mathis... since you are thinking about building AFS2013 does that mean you are not on board with MS and Flight?

Easy question right...it's a yes or no answer .......let see what kind of answer we will get to start with...

  6. Here is something I posted on another forums,

    ================================================================================

let me explain....let say I'm MS and I want to make a lot of money without investing a lot of my own money in Flight....what do I do....I try to reach as many peoples as I can with what I already have....still with me....so I have FSX...we know FSX is used by serious simmers buying addons... and the one who received FSX as a gift at Christmas played with it a little and forgot about it......that's the one I'm after.

Now how do I get the regular moms and pops to spend $$$ on Flight (based on FSX platform).....it's call game for Window live.....with a game everybody can play MS make more $$$ and the other good side of it is MS will make sure all dev. can make addons for it...no more piracy = .....$$$ for the dev. and $$$ for MS.....got it?

Now IMHO do I think MS is comming with a new Flight meaning DX11, SLI +++ I'll say....a big NOPE....wayyyyyy to much work and $$$ involved for MS.....so if I am in MS shoes I'll keep FSX like it is right now (Flight will be based on the same platform DX9) make little improvement here and there on FSX and keep all the dev. and their customers who invested a lot of $$$ happy. So you "wanna" play with Flight....get online and have your CC ready......

    ================================================================================

Now as we already know Aerosoft went all over the world to get dev. and others on board, as we also know some stated they will stay with and only with MS ...and others willing to invest $$ with Aerosoft.....well.... we don't know....wink.gif so lets say I'm right about what I just said and I'm a dev..... where will I invest my hard earned money.....with MS where I know they will attract customers they don't have and where my addons will be safe from piracy and make more $$$ or with Aerosoft where the market will be limited to old simmers using FSX, now if Aerosoft is comming out with a bew sim. and no other dev. is welling to get on board what do you think will happen....only Aerosoft addons will be usable with their new sim.

As a business man myself I wish the best to all companies doing business today.... so what I am expressing here today is my own opinion and speculations since I don't have any access to what's happening behind close door.

Do I make senses or do you think I'm that far off my rockers......blink.gif

  7. This is just my view but it would make sence for aerosoft to put on hold it's plans to make a sim to see where microsoft are going with this. If this new sim is going to be like FSX where it will allow add-ons then it'll not make alot of sence for aerosoft to spend alot of money making anew sim they would be better off doing what they are doing and making great add-ons. Afher all the market for flight simming is small compeared to other games and is there going to be room for 2 high qualty sims as both offerings are coming from two good companys. It will leave the devs of add-ons with the problem of what sim to make things for. I hope aerosoft will carry on looking at making it's own sim should microsoft drop flight or flight is just going to be a mission based game and not a simulator. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Lets wait to see what will be the answer to my question first and start from there......that in itself will tell you a lot.

  8. Why don't we look at this from another angle, the (Aerosoft) angle......... I am a business owner myself, I am a tattoo supplier, I supply Doctors who do breast reconstruction, girls who do permanent make up and tattoo shop (lets compare my supply to addons) so let say my own supplier (MS) announce a new machine on the market "Pain free tattoo machine" (Flight) .....and that's it..... nothing else as far as details.......what do you think will happen......my customers (us) will get on the phone (forums) and will ask me (Mathis) questions like...

"Will I nedd to change my machine?" (FSX)

"Will I be able to use the needles we already have with the new machine?" (addons compatibility)

"Have you seen this new machine, is it really pain free?" (Flight, latest hardware, DX11,++)

Now do you really think I (Mathis) would not know the answer to those questions......seriously.....I have a big company (Aerosoft) selling my tattoo suppliy (addons) all over the world but I don't know if my needles (US Cities X) will be compatible with the new machine (Flight) or I have not talk to my supplier (MS) so I know nothing about this new machine (Flight)...I (Mathis) did not ask any questions to my supplier (MS) about this new machine (Flight)...........PLEASE ....give me a break......I (Mathis) am talking about my bread and butter here.......$$$....

To all of you who think Aerosoft does not know the answer to these questions you all needs to see me about some property I have for sale, about 20mi west of Boca Raton, FL

Now if you want answers to your questions cut the speculation out and ask them directly to Aerosoft, take a step back and see what will happen.....let me ask the first one......

Mathis, will your addons on the market as of now be compatible with Flight?

  9. Umm is putting all your eggs in one basket such a good idea these days.

If given the option to be in more than one basket I think I would take it this day and age.

Its a pity the last Sim wasn't FS9 then we could have called this the FS X-Files smile.gif with all this Hush hush stuff.

Don't know, but as far as I can tell the latest basket I see as far as flight simulation is FSX, until I see Flight or AFS2013 up and running I will not be able to make a decision on the fact of is putting all my eggs in one basket is such a good decision, show me another basket.

  10. Like I said I wish I had a crystal ball, lets try something else...what about going with facts about what we know for sure about the buzz in the industrie... (not in any particular order)

    #1: Microsoft announced a new sim/game "Flight"

#2 Orbx is on board with Microsoft only as stated here from John Venema on his forum...

QUOTE: Since ACES closed I have gone on record on many occasions to clearly state that we will continue to support the Microsoft platform, and only the Microsoft platform. Whilst we have been approached a number of times to port to X-Plane and look at other sim alternatives, my position has been clear: we're a Microsoft shop and will stay that way. end of quote.

#3 As far as I can tell we don't know if or when Aerosoft will start their project (AFS2013) as stated here by Mathijs

QUOTE: BUT, we have not yet announced the start of the project, it is still 'not on' at this moment. end of Quote.

Everybody...lets had what we know for sure.

  11. Hummm! I was just thinking about the old VHS and BETA tape format (both were good) ....VHS came out as the winner...... Blueray DVD and the HD DVD format (both of them were also good)....Blueray stayed on top........so here is my take on this is......

After adding all the country using FSX, FS9 and FS2004... the market is still a small one so will it be Microsoft or Aerosoft cause I can't see both selling enough in that small of a market......so if I may make a prediction..... assuming AFS2012 and Flight are equal as far as visual and performance..........the first one to hit the market will take it all.....I wish I had a crystal ball.

  12. Here is a part of what I wrote on another forum.....

"If I was an FSX addons dev. today will I be worry.....you "betcha"....why will you ask.....pure speculation here again but let me give you what I think is a couple of good reason.....firstl...compatibility.....so let say Microsoft has this new Flight built on a new platform (core engine) + DX11, PhsX, SLI, using 6 or more core ++, and this happend to be a fantastic new sim.... all slider to the right including cars traffic...no stuttering.... no blurries..... no bugs no matter what speed or detailed plane you want to use.....and Microsoft don't want to share it........dev. don't have access to the core engine....... this Flight is soo good you don't need addons....... or Microsoft will sell their own addons....that is what is scary as a company like Orbx, Aerosoft and others......unless they know something we don't about it....but after reading more and more on it Microsoft is playing alone."

  13. More news here....

    http://news.cnet.com...tag=topStories2

With this in mind I may buy more FSX addons but there is nothing in this new article who lead me to belive it will take for ever to see Flight out and running.........

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The game is in its early development stages, with an alpha version nearly ready for internal testing, according to Kevin Unangst, a senior director in Microsoft's game unit."

Like I said before if fMicrosoft does things right ...new platform, SLI, PhysX, DX11, as many core as we can use...Hyperthreading++ we will have the best flight ever....

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The company is offering few details on Flight, but Unangst said that it is looking to appeal to flying enthusiasts with the realism, accuracy, and fidelity they expect, but also imagines including other types of gameplay that might appeal more to novices."

There you go, not only a game.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Microsoft isn't saying when to expect Flight to take off, but it likely won't be anytime soon."

How long did it take for window 7 to go from beta to official release.....not that long.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I wouldn't expect for people to see Flight in public beta this year," Unangst said."

    2011 is in 4 months......

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Will Flight be so good we won't need anything else......time will tell.

  14. http://www.legitreviews.com/news/8811/

One of the casualties of last year's layoffs at Microsoft was the Aces game studio responsible for the company's long-running Flight Simulator game. At the time, Microsoft promised that the flight simulation franchise would continue in one form or another. This week, Redmond confirmed that it is indeed following through with a new title: Microsoft Flight. The game is in its early development stages, with an alpha version nearly ready for internal testing, according to Kevin Unangst, a senior director in Microsoft's game unit.

So if this is to be belived we will see this new "game" sooner than later.

To me early development stage with an alpha version nearly ready = new platform, SLI, Hyperthreading, PhsX, DX11, as many core as you can use.....again pure speculation on my part but are we not in 2010 with hardware up to the task??

  15. Worry...not to worry....worry.....I would be.....is this not a step in the right direction....this is more than six month ago right?......as I can tell by reading on other developper's forums...they may be involve in it......

    Quote:

" Since ACES closed I have gone on record on many occasions to clearly state that we will continue to support the Microsoft platform, and only the Microsoft platform. Whilst we have been approached a number of times to port to X-Plane and look at other sim alternatives, my position as CEO has been clear: we're a Microsoft shop and will stay that way.

Secondly, please do not ask us for more information, other than what Microsoft themselves have published (as they did today) on public sites for everyone to see. Whilst it's fun to speculate about this new platform, you need to understand we simply cannot say anything at this early stage. Please respect our wishes in that regard.

Finally, we are 100% committed to releasing content for this new platform, in whatever guise that may be; of that you have our promise."

    end of quote.

    Worry.....not to worry...worry....

By the way my earlier thread was not to be insulte anybody but just to tell you all Microsoft was ahead i(IMHO) n the race for a new sim. or game so if I have insulted somebody please accept my apologies......

  16. I Judith, I did not know Aerosoft stoped talking to you (us) many moons ago cause i've not been on this forum lately for similar reason, why is that? That's not cool, I was wondering why I did not get an answer from them yet. This is just amazing to me......you go Aerosoft blink.gif .

DDR3 = bandwith, faster rams (on a tight timing), better overclocking (i980x at 4.4GHz+ DDR3 7-7-7-20 200MHz + GTX 480 + Asus Rampage III extreme) + faster all around system.

QUOTE : If it takes one woman nine months to get a baby, nine women should be able to get a baby in one month, right?

Nop....but what about nine woman taking care of one baby.....wub.gif

QUOTE: Aerosoft have the benefit of designing the system from scratch.....

My point exactly, if you are "gonna" do something new well do it right....

Was nice talking to you Judith....I always like a good debate.

  17. Basically, yes. While a game can do certain things that can make it harder or less efficient to make driver-level optimizations for it, SLI works transparently for game developer for the most part, as far as I'm aware.

I think it's supposed to use DirectX 10, but I'm not quite sure. And I don't really care, either, because the difference between DX10 and DX11 is not that big anyway. Especially when considering the fact that the majority of current games still use DX9.

It depends, but it's not something to be taken lightly. Or else we'd be swamped by massively multi-threaded software by now.

    Judith

Thank you for your reply Judith, please don't get me wrong by asking this question but are you a developper for Aerosoft? I am assuming you are.......

Now by the way you are answering my question let me tell you...you have a future in politic.....haha

1: OK, your first answer does not help me at all (sorry) so let me ask another way, does a game (AFS 2012) as to be built or coded SLI compatible to be able to use an SLI driver from ATI or Nvidia, yes or no?

2: About the DX question it is not a matter of if you care or not it's a matter of been up to date with what's going on in today's game market, who cared about DX10 when all game were DX9 only.......funny all game (fairly new one) are in DX10 and all future game will be DX11, new vid. card are built with DX11 now, same thing happend with DDR3 memory, everybody on DDR2 were saying we did not need it since not to many board were available for DDR3 memory.....hello...it can only get better.

3: Making the same mistake as FSX did would not be wise, seriously build a game who will use all available core, it may not be something to be taken lightly about synchronizing the additional threads with the rendering thread but maaaan can you imagine ASF2012 using 6 core and by the time AFS2012 is ready we will probably have 8 core CPU.

This is a complain we read all the time "Why will you buy a CPU with 6 core when none of the game on the market can use it", that's exactly my point....be the first....make it work.....make it future proof...make this game a multicore game......I'll be the first one to use my plastic card for a game (sorry) simulator like that....

Judith, I don't know if you are a developer for AFS2012 but with all due respect if you'r not can a developer or somebody who make decision at Aerosoft answer these simple questions?

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

  18. Thank you for your answer BPL but since you'r not sure about wich DX will be in use and you don't know the answer to my others questions I hope somebody from Aerosoft (like a software developper) can answer me.

Seriously I'm sure somebody from Aerosoft read my questions and can answer them..... Mathijs maybe.

    Thank you.

  19. I am sure somebody can answer my questions?

1: Wich DX will be use in AFS 2012?

2: Will AFS 2012 be built (coded) to be able to use SLI?

3: Since using all possible core from a CPU can only improve AFS 2012 performance will this be done with AFS 2012 or is synchronizing the additional threads with the rendering thread to big of a task?

Like I said before I am just trying to understand what will be included and what will not be included in AFS 2012

    Thank you

  20. That mostly depends on whether Nvidia or AMD will consider AFS 2013 important enough to implement specific optimizations for it in their drivers.

Who cares about hyper-threading if you can have more than enough real cores? Besides, there's nothing special about hyper-threading from a software point of view.

Probably not, because the current 3D graphics APIs have certain restrictions, which basically means that rendering has to be done from only one thread (read one core). In the best case you can do everything but rendering in additional threads, but there's only so much that needs to be done. And besides, you still have the problem of synchronizing the additional threads with the rendering thread.

    Judith

Are you telling me FSX can't use SLI because Nvidia or ATI do not make drivers to be use with more than one card for FSX and not because FSX was not built (coded) to use SLI....so it will be up to Nvidia or ATI to make a driver enable SLI for AFS.....or for that matter FSX?

About my DX question, wich one will be in use for ASF 2012?

Is synchronizing the additional threads with the rendering thread to big of a task.....why am I asking.....because there is no such thing as overkill in PC's world IMHO.

Don't get me wrong I am not asking questions here to get in a big debate but to know what will be included in AFS and what will not be included so I can make an educated decision about buying AFS.

We allk now what are the bugs in FSX.......no SLI, stuttering when maxing up everything or making hard turn from the VC view, popping trees or buildings, no VC shadow in DX9, DX10 preview is full of problems, texture catching up with the plane. reflecting clouds or stars on ocean's water +++

    Thank you for answering.

  21. I have not been here for some time and I did not have the time to read every post about AFS 2012 so if this has been asked before fogive me......

1: Will the new sim be SLI compatible?

2: Will it be Hyperthreading compatible?

3: Wil the new sim use all core (exp: i 980X 6 core) for everything...not just terrain.... here is an example of what I'm asking, in this vid. Phil Taylor is saying FSX can use up to 256 core but this is for terrain only....

so it will be great to have all core working on everything......

4: Will you be using DX11?

I'm asking all these questions because this is the future for all new game or simulator.

    Thank you.
