  1. Hello,

first of all, you can handle the demanding performance by set the scenery density. Anyway we have experienced good framerates at all.

@ Influx: please post your installed pay- and freeware sceneries and utilities you use by loading the flight simulator at Orly.

A short description of your graphic settings would be great.

    Thanks for this post,

In fact I've Orly X with a few payware installed :

FranceVFR Paris with all the addons of this company.

Addit pro to manage my sceneries

MyTrafficX with AirNav FSLive Traffic 3

    REX 2.0 HD

Rex weather engine 2.0 on a another computer (Simconnect)

FSMAP on the same network machine

    That's all for Orly neighborhood.

In fact I've similar problem with Mega Airport CDG

My FSX.CFG is tweaked as far as I can with really better performances regarding the first results I got.

    My master computer :

    Antec DF85 with Gigabyte X58A-UD7,

Core I7 960 at 4.2, (no HT for FSX)

    16 Go of memory,

2 X 160Go Intel SSD HDD (one for the system and the other for FSX),

    2 X 1,5 To Sata3 HDD,

2 X 5870 with CrossfireX (Catalyst 10.9): I use ATI CF Extension for FSX (few FPS better),

    3 x NEC Multisync EA231WMi : 23" at 60Hz

2,0 Gbits/s Network team connection on the 2 "FSX" computers with a manageable switch between,

    Windows 7 x64 Integral Edition,

    FSX with Acc. pack.

    Microsoft performance : 7.8

The slave one is an HP Workstation

I run FSX with a 5760 X 1080 resolution but lower resolution do not increase considerably performances (5 fps more).

That's what I can say at this moment.

    Regards

    Marc

  2. Hi everybody,

Regarding the performance problem, after some adjustments in my fsx.cfg (some more tweaks based on Jesus Altuve experience) I got some more fps on that scenery (nearly double).

Some troubles stay, for example when arriving on Runway 6, fps dramatically fall from 15 to 8 fps, but on the airport itself, with normal traffic I get 15 to 17 fps.

If I take off, fps stay at 8 to 10 fps and only a few miles from the airport increase at a "normal rate".

    Another evidence?

    Marc

Just found something regarding this problem...

I've noticed that everywhere my fps were dramatically decreasing there was Chimneys with smoke in the background.

As I didn't know from which add-on those Chimneys were, I disabled one after the other all the sceneries regarding Paris (FranceVFR), finally just leaving Orly X.

(The last one was "Nextmesh France").

    Heading Runway 6 : 15 fps !

I enabled then all those sceneries back and... no more Chimneys, no more smoke... and fps between 14 to 17 fps with normal traffic, almost everywhere.

I don't really understand from what those  Chimneys came but that was a part of my problem.

    Marc

  3. Ours at 41 fps

    our_vc_41fps.jpg

Default at 37 fps (note the very weird geometry where you can actually see the underside of the glareshield)

    def_vc_37fps.jpg

    Hi Mathijs,

That was only a smile, regarding this nice plane that I was one of the first to say it was a nice add-on.

But regarding its frame rate at LFPO, your new scenery, with all at normal or less, or at LFPG one of your older scenery, Fps are down, never at 30 !.

That's not because of the plane but when someone says : " but it's very nice to fly into one of the Mega Airports and see FPS solidly above 30 with settings I have not used before.", I'm still asking to have an answer at the multiple posts placed on multiple forums regarding really poor performances at some mega airports :

Airbus X at LFPO taxying with very poor AI traffic and normal configuration (all at the center) : 15/17 fps - arriving at runway 6 : 8 fps - Taking off : the same - flying later at FL220 50/60fps.

Airbus X at LFPG at the door with same config : 10/12 fps, taxying 8/9 fps and that's the best, usually 4/5 fps.

And I always defend Mega Airport sceneries, but not for the fps...

But I never got an answer on those problems.

    That's a smile

    Marc

  4. I don't understand too !

I've a similar configuration without such problems.

The only thing that would be abble to give such a result would be a problem with another scenery.

Is it possible for you to send me a copy of your scenery list and may be also your fsx.cfg ?

If I can do something for you it will be with pleasure...

May be try a search in all Fsx directory for all file with LFPO (if you didn't did it)

    Marc

  5. I understand now. Here is what I found:

    APPLICATIONS

    9/10, 9/12, 9/13, 9/15 - Side by Side - fsx\modules\PFCFSX.dll (Pete Dowson PFC driver module)

    9/10 - Application Error LVDL.dll (Level D Simulations B763 addon)

9/12 - Application Error fsx.exe fs-traffic.dll [9 times on this date] (Microsoft application extension)

9/12 - Application Error fsx.exe ai_player.dll [2 times on this date] (Microsoft application extension)

    9/13 - Application Error fsx.exe g3d.dll (Microsoft application extension)

9/15 - Application Error fsx.exe Windows interface stopped

I'm not sure what caused these problems since I have successfully executed FSX without incident.

Unfortunately these are common errors with FSX and Windows seven, but not only with MA Orly X (and may be not at all).

I do have or had some of those messages also and FSX still crash sometimes, I don't know really why, but it does not so much as yours.

What I did to reduce some of those was to use fully qualified path for all programs and dll in dll.xml :

    C:\Users\User.Domain (or) User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

    for example I replaced :

    <Launch.Addon>

    <Name>Captain Sim Menu</Name>

    <Disabled>False</Disabled>

    <Path>Captain_Sim\Captain_Sim.b757.menu.dll</Path>

    </Launch.Addon>

    with <Launch.Addon>

    <Name>Captain Sim Menu</Name>

    <Disabled>False</Disabled>

    <Path>(F):\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Captain_Sim\Captain_Sim.b757.menu.dll</Path>

    </Launch.Addon>

I notified a few left errors after that, may be because Windows 7 doesn't use the same file and path system as the previous OS (XP for example) and prefer fully qualified path.

I had some troubles with Oracle and data base tools on the same matter.

I'm still not sure if all data are well recognized now but I found Fsx more stable, and it worked (partially) for me .

Do you use compatibility mode ?

Warning 9/10 - Name resolution for the name pantsletter.ru timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.

I think you have won a malware . ...

    Marc

  6. In fact if FSX crash you must find errors in the "Event Viewer".

Do you know how to find it ?

In the start menu, just type "Event" in the "Search programs and files" and you'll have "Event viewer" in the list.

It should be something like this in your language as that' it in french.

You'll have critical errors in the Windows part / Application or System.

    General information would be useful...

Send me an email if you prefer...

  8. Hi there,

    Some good news.

I tweaked my fsx.cfg again, regarding Jesus Altuve advice, and made some change and can obtain now over 15fps.

I'm just surprise that on Runway 26 with Aerosoft Bus, I reached 17/19 but with Flight one ATR on runway 6, back to 8 fps at the entry of the runway and for the all takeoff.

Traffic still dramatically decrease frame rate.

I do continue to test this scenery with other planes and other rules...

    Marc

  9. Well, I uninstalled and reinstalled the package to no avail. Does anyone else have FSX running under Windows 7 64-bit - I doubt it but there might be something there.

    Thanks

    fb

    Hi Frank,

Yes I do have Windows 7 64 bits ultimate but not this problem.

I've just tried to rename all LFPO objects outside Mega Orly folder, did you tried that ?

    Marc

  10. Hi,

In fact there is 2 posts regarding this performance problem with Orly as I was not sure that this was a bug :

    The other post

Thanks for you answer Henk but In fact I did it :

I disabled all FranceVFR Sceneries, searched and renamed all LFPO files outside Mega Airport.

I disabled the Crossfire functionality with no real evolution.

I don't understand how people can get 20/30 fps on that scenery !

    Or may be I don't understand why I don't get that !

Just a question what's your screen resolution ?

Are you working in full screen mode ?

    Marc

  11. Hi,

Yes I do have FranceVFR Sceneries (All of them) but with or without them activated, same problem (I've tried one by one).

Regarding Mega Orly files, I've excluded (renamed) all the files regarding LFPO in all the other directories.

I've tried with Crossfire deactivated nothing new...

Actually 12 fps with Aerosoft Bus at the gate A3, it's the best I reached (less when taxiing)!

    Marc

  12. Hi Frank,

Regarding how many sceneries I have - the list would be quite long as I have almost 800 entries in my scenery.cfg file.

Wow a huge number in fact !

Isn't it too many at one time ?

You should reduce the number of sceneries at one time (removing those you'll not use in your next flight)

There's some tools to do that.

Actually I've only 36 add-on areas in my manager...

Regarding placement of scenery entries in my scenery.cfg file - the entries in the file are sequenced by country (alphabetized). The only exception are those entries that require a specific placement (above or below in the file).

Regarding the scenery order, there should be some troubles with that, if I understood your post.

What I've read and practice is that sceneries must be ordered in a specific way: you'll find whatever you need with google.

The lowest layer (at the bottom of the Scenery Library list) is the "Default Terrain" one.

Everything else get added on top of that, layer by layer, just like building a wedding cake.

When we start looking at the scenery manager (a specific one should be welcome but I'm sure you do have one with such a number of sceneries),

at the top you'll find the specific folders as AES and AFD.

Then you'll find in that order :

specific airport (Aerosoft MA, FSDT or FranceVFR local airport)

specific local area. (FVFR Flight Paris...)

Regional area (FVFR Flight Alpes Nord...)

    Other area (NextMesh...)

Traffic add-on generally just before the propeller layer (MyTraffic...)

    and then the base area...

Your problem should be something regarding that order but I'm surprised that you never had troubles before...

Hope this will help you ...

    Marc

  13. Hi Shaun,

First of all thanks for your answer...

In fact this computer is not only for games as I've got an expertise company in computing development and network management and administration (since 18 years now)...

Flying is one of my hobbies as a lot of people.

I did try to disable Crossfire with the same result or a little bit slower, but not significant.

Memory, as processor and so on, are used in huge processes witch do need such performances.

It's only a + for using FSX

I noticed that performances look different just after a computer restart, a few Fps higher, but actually it's between 7 to 9, not really flyable (interesting expression).

I'm still searching where the problem should be, as, as I've talk about those problems with a few flying friends, those performances seem to be "a little slow" as you say, but a big little.

    I don't really understand.

    Marc

PS : For information FSDT LSGG(Geneva) work at 25/30 fps at the same time, with the same plane

  14. Thanks for your answers.

As I said my computer is not really an antic :

Antec Dark Force 85 with Gigabyte X58A-UD7 mainboard

    Core I7 960 at 4.2 ghZ

    16 Go of memory

2 X 160Go Intel SSD HDD (one for the system one for FSX)

    2 X 1,5 To Sata3 HDD (for development)

    2 X 5870 with CrossfireX using ATI_CF_Xtension.

    Windows 7 x64,

FSX with Acc. pack and some (a lot of) add-on : A great number of Aerosoft, France VFR, FSDreamTeam, REX 2(which increased my frame rate) and so on.

Optimized with Jesus Altuve tweaks for normal flights

    Microsoft performance : 7.8

I'll try to change settings but as I use also tweakfps (for fast tweak), I didn't see a real evolution by changing parameters on MA CDG before Orly installation...

I'm still looking for a solution as such a computer should give better frame rate at my point of view.

I'm wrong somewhere but don't know where !

Those 2 sceneries are my must, I love them !

    Kind regards

  15. I was waiting for this scenery for a long time.

First of all, it seems to be a really nice job but, as Mega Airport CDG, performance are not there.

My computer is not any more the old fellow who accompanied me during my flights all these long years, as you can see on my signature.

When on FSDT LSGG (or wherever on complex sceneries) I am about 20/25 fps, with the same configuration I don't go further 7/9 fps on this new add-on.

I noticed the same type of problem on Mega Airport CDG with a poor 10/12 fps, but I thought it was because it's an "old add-on).

Those frames rate were all notified with Airbus X but also with basic planes. With no scenery : 30 fps.

    What's wrong with that ?

    Any idea ?

    Thanks for your replies !

  16. So, a lot of things said, a lot of comment posted but a great add-on on my point of view actually. Nice job !

I'm still testing it but find it really interesting.

The only thing that is actually annoying me is that during a flight, in full screen mode, for an unknown reason (I didn't find any post on that) Fsx hang, the main window become black with other backward windows flashing and then the window come back at the last step of the flight. It seems to be an Internet connection ?

    My computer : Antec DF85 with Gigabyte X58A-UD7, Core I7 960 at 4.2, 16 Go of memory, 2 X 160Go Intel SSD HDD, 2 X 1,5 To Sata3 HDD, 2 X 5870 with CrossfireX.

I'm under Windows 7 x64, FSX with Acc. pack and some add-on

    Any idea ?
